  • United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Unit Terms of Reference

    Title : Volunteer Management Assistant Duration : 6 Months (August 2015 February 2016) Location : UNV Country Office Team (COT), Colombo Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer [PO], the intern will be expected to provide support for planning and delivery of the Volunteer Management programmes UNV has undertaken. The candidate is expected to work on a daily basis with colleagues in the UNV COT, and regularly with, UNVs, Key Stakeholders, volunteers and the general public. Duties & Responsibilities

    Support/organize Volunteer Management training groups as necessary.

    Support/supervise meetings with volunteers; preparations of briefing kits.

    Answer queries on Volunteer Management

    Support/supervise meetings ensuring necessary arrangements are organized.

    Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all activities and processes with regard to all Volunteer Management programmes.

    Ensure involvement of volunteers into planning, organization, implementation and follow-up of activities.

    Assist in planning and implementing new initiatives

    Assist in the coordination of the V Force

    Assist in the organising and implementation of V Force events

    Respond to queries regarding the UNV programme in general and in Sri Lanka

    Assist the UNV COT with any other duties as maybe assigned Qualifications and Experience

    Pursuing final year / awaiting results of University Degree in the field of communications, public relations, journalism, development or equivalent

    Excellent command of written and spoken English required and proficiency in Sinhala and/or Tamil is an advantage

    Ability to think and work logically and work precisely with attention to detail

    Initiative, sound judgement and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds

    Self-organizer with respect for deadlines

    Team Player

    Excellent writing skills

    Quick learner

    Able to facilitate activities

    Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Illustrator, Photoshop etc.)
