Voting Members needed for Synod Assembly June 13
th - 15
th
This year’s annual Synod Assembly for our SWPA Synod is being held at California University of PA, from June 13th-15
th (Thursday
through Saturday). St. Matthias may send 2 voting members to this year’s assembly (1 male and 1 female voting member). The costs of attending the assembly are covered by St. Matthias. This year includes the bishop’s election. Our current Bishop, Kurt Kusserow, may be re-elected, or a new bishop may be chosen. If you’d like to attend this year’s assembly, please contact Pastor Paul. Also, Pastor Paul will be serving as the chairperson of the elections committee again at this year’s assembly.
Jesus said, “I came that they
may have life, and have it
abundantly. I am the good
shepherd.” John 10:10b-11a
In the gospel passage where Jesus proclaims Himself
as “the Good Shepherd”, He shares His ultimate
purpose with the words “I came that they may have
life, and have it abundantly”.
What is it that you have in abundance, and would
like to offer thanks to God? A home to live in? A
family? Loving friends, neighbors, or co-workers?
A meaningful job? Do you have adequate food,
clothing, and shelter? A car, truck, or van to get
around in? Adequate health care? Access to
technology like a TV, a smart phone, computer, or
internet access? A church family? People who pray
for you? A warm place to sleep at night? A God
who was willing to die for you, and rise from the
dead for you, so that you could have life, and have it
abundantly?
There’s so much we have in abundance, and so much
to be thankful for. As we celebrate Jesus’ death and
resurrection, we remember and give thanks to God
for all that He so abundantly continues to provide.
And we remember that it all comes from our
generous and loving Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ,
our Risen Savior and Lord. Thanks be to God!
In Christ,
Pastor Paul
