T hese office, will have amp le accommodations for medical exam i- nation of all students in the co l lege and especially those pa r ticipat i ng active ly in ath l etics. Th e main floor of the gymnasium has been designed for three bas k etball practice co u rts . These courts may be combi ned into one for intercollegiate contests. Al- .iowan e bas been made for a seating capadt uf 1,200 . An auxiliary practice room, a trophy room, and offices comp l ete the plan of the main floor. The ground floor will furnish acco mmodation s for visiting teams, a total of 635 lo ker s, four large dressing rooms, showers, and a 70-foot swimming poo l. Plans for Gymnasium Perfected Structure to Be Modern From Every Viewpoint

Blueprin ts fo r t he new gymnasium soon to be erected from funds now being soli ci ted have been completed. The plans wer e drawn after a careful survey of m any gymnasiums throughout the coun­try a nd not only conform t hr oughout to t he be t sta11.riards nf de ig11 and equipmen t , hut ::J l Rn to t h e general type of buildings on t he Wake F orest Campus.

The building will be located on t he western edge of t he campus, convenien t to a ll student and to the Gor e athl eti c fi eld .

The offi ces of a ll athletic departments of the col­lege will be hou ed on the main floo r . These office,

will have ample accommodations for medical exami­nation of all students in the college and especially t hose par ticipating actively in ath letics. Sidney S. Lea and hi wife, Fannie E. Lea- he a ucce · ful business man of Caswell ouutv and she hi chari table in · ~elli gent wife-have .won an ~verl a;sting name in the anna l. of ·w·ake Forest College. About the 'year 1886, Mr. Lea, tr~ngly mfl.uenced by. the w1shes o~ h1s w1fe, responded to the soli citation s of President Taylor and Professor Mill , and gave the money for th_e erect1on of a Che m1str y L a boratory at W ake Fore t College. Th ey wer e both already advan ced in age. Mr. Lea was born 1n 1 810 and died in 1892, without children . Instead of hoarding their mon y, Mr. a nd Mrs. Lea used it to provide for the College. of their beloved denomination the equipment it so mt1ch needed . And they gave with no niggardly hand. When completed m 1888 the Chemi try Laboratory of Wake Forest College was the best in a ll the states south of Baltimo1·e. And wh at a monument of the Leas thi s Labo1·atory i. ! They liYe through imperishable beaut~, of building and service.
