Some Thoughts on What WSome Thoughts on What WSome Thoughts on What WSome Thoughts on What WSome Thoughts on What We Are About...e Are About...e Are About...e Are About...e Are About...Mission and evangelism, paired as they are in the mission study theme, specifically turn our attention to how we share our passion for mission.Evangelism is telling the story of women in mission. Evangelism is sharingthe Good news. Evangelism is speaking truth, sharing women’s experiencesand advocating for peace and justice in today’s world. Evangelism keepsmission alive.
Striving to live mission (and not simply do mission for one hour, one day,one week) is a challenging Christian discipline.

CSUMC: “A beacon...Living Christ, Teaching Christ, Offering Christ”
Pinched yourself lately? Or nudged theperson sitting next to you in church? Thisis the season for pinches of pride. Springis the season when we seem to recognizeone group after another:• the youth giving their Spring Break for
a mission trip,• the children presenting their musical
(This Sunday − Don’t miss it!),• the seniors graduating from high
school,• the 6th graders completing
confirmation.Then, there is Mothers’ Day
and soon enough the YouthChoir Tour followed by Fathers’ Day.
Certainly, Church Street has a seriousobligation to bear witness to the truth ofChrist in a world that desperately needsa Savior. We continue to provide the SoupKitchen ministry to the homeless. In aworld that settles for whatever the trafficwill bear, we lift up (and measure our lifeby) the standard of Christ. All seriousundertakings for any church.
But, in the spring we remember thatwe are a community of children and
teenagers and working adults and retiredadults, single and married. We are parentsand grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thisis the season to recognize the work andpreparation that have been going on allwinter long. We take seriously ourobligation to raise children and youth intothoughtful, Christian young women andmen. It just seems that spring is the seasonwhen we get to see the fruit of all thatlabor.
All of this prideis the result of acommitment that
we make every timesomeone is baptized. We make acommitment:
We will surround these persons witha community of love and forgiveness, thatthey may grow in their service to others.
We will pray for them, that they maybe true disciples who walk in the way thatleads to life.
This commitment, you see, is thereason every graduation, every musical, every mission trip belongs to the wholechurch family.
