    Pillars of GOOD Character!

Students have been working on being CARING and being RESPONSIBLE which also means, attimes, being RESPECTFUL. Students are still working on being TRUSTWORTHY.

Are you talking to your children about being trustworthy? Are they doing some tasks at home to make them more

    independent and responsible?

WHAT WORLD RELIGIONS ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH?

"DIWALI" - Festival of lights for the Hindus(This started 2 days ago is ends tomorrow)

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivalsfrom South Asia.

It is also an occasion for celebration byJains andSikhs.

The festival of Diwali extends over five days. Because of the lights, fireworks and sweets involved, it's a great favourite with children. The festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darknessand knowledge over ignorance, although the actual legends that go with

the festival are different in different parts of India.

The Times of India summed up the modern meaning of Diwali:

Regardless of the mythological explanation one prefers, what the festivalof lights really stands for today is a reaffirmation of hope, a renewedcommitment to friendship and goodwill, and a religiously sanctioned

celebration of the simple - and some not so simple - joys of life.

    Times of India editorialSource:http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/hinduism/holydays/diwali.shtml

Deepawali or Diwali is certainly the biggest and the brightest of allHindu festivals. It's the festival of lights (deep = light and avali= a rowi.e., a row of lights) that's marked by four days of celebration, whichliterally illumines the country with its brilliance, and dazzles all with its

joy. Each of the four days in the festival of Diwali is separated by adifferent tradition, but what remains true and constant is the celebrationof life, its enjoyment and goodness.
