If anyone has any history information they would like to see posted on the website please con-tact me or any board member. Do you find it difficult to obtain continuing education units (CEUs)? Through this special series, ASPE can help you accumulate the CEUs required for maintaining your Certified in Plumbing Design

I hope you all had a chance to go to the ASPE convention or possibly joint one of the live webinars. The Exposition at the Convention is al-ways a great opportunity to see a

wide array of new products and speak to ven-dors about their products. I always learn about some improved features of products or see something new I can use on a project. It is al-ways a great time and you make some great contacts with people in the industry. In New York City, the 2014 version of their up-dated codes became effective October 1, 2014. Due to overwhelming last minute submissions under the old code there is legislation pending to extend the effective date to December 31, 2014. A list of codes and the General Adminis-trative Provisions are available at the NYC.gov website, as well as the status of the effective date. The 2014 updates were for the Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas and Building codes. Cop-ies of the codes like the 2014 NYC Plumbing Code are also available to order online from the New York CityStore website. The NJ HVACR licensing deadline for grandfa-thered applications has passed, it was Septem-ber 1. Apparently there have been over 3,000

Let’s Get Technical By Ryan Mullen

Once again the October meeting will be held at Dominic’s R-C, 453 Avenel St. Avenel, NJ with cocktail hour at 5:30 and presenta-tion beginning at 6:30. I am encouraging each of the long time attendees to bring one new or returning attendee to

this next meeting. I have not been successful bringing new meeting attendees and I am making it my goal this October to add at least one new mem-ber to the chapter and bring him/her along to the next meeting. I am writing this in between meetings during the 50th Anniversary ASPE Convention and Exposition. After listening to some of the talks I am finding my-self proud to be a member of this society. I think it is important that we do something to help our fellow co-workers to understand the importance of belong-ing to this organization. One of the common themes of this convention is the lack of attendance at local chapter meetings. To me this seems like an easy problem to solve and I plan on doing my best to change this trend for our chapter. I am look-ing for you to help me with this by encouraging at least one new member you know to attend our next meeting in October. The national society of ASPE is working hard and making necessary changes in order to keep up with the times. Some of these changes include: Creating a recognized licensing avenue for Plumb-ing engineers. ASPE committees are working with BIM software developers to improve the modeling software Obtaining approval for technical sessions to be ac-credited for continuing education. Creating a recognized licensing avenue for

Plumbing engineers. ASPE committees are working with BIM soft-

ware developers to improve the modeling soft-ware

We would like to advertise ASPE and try to sign up some new members. Anyone interested in helping out let me know. Please try to attend if possible. I hope everyone takes the time to check out www.new-jersey-aspe.org. If anyone would like to add some information to website contact me or any board member. Our New Jersey Chapter’s Monthly Newsletter posted on our NJ ASPE website. It is up-dated every month. For those who missed the past few monthly newsletters, they are available now on our website As I mention every month, I would just like to put out a request for More ASPE members to attend OUR monthly meetings and share any inter-esting information you may have with others.
