QUILT SHOW BOUTIQUE

November 1 and 2, 2019 is rapidly approaching and with everyone’s busy plans, it

will be here before you know it! We only have 9 months to create, gather, inven-

tory and price all items for the Boutique at the 2019 Quilt Show. Marcia Davis and

the “Sew Much Fun” friendship group did such an amazing job with the Boutique

for the 2017 Quilt Show... from what I understand the best ever. A very high bar

was set. With your help we can not only match but surpass the 1100 items that

were sold and the over $6000 that was made for Havasu Stitchers. We know that

with the help and support all of our talented Havasu Stitchers members and help

from our many friendship groups, we can not only meet but exceed 1100 items

for sale. Our goal is to have 1500 items available for sale...I know it sounds lofty,

but we can do it! Please join us in this drive to make the 2019 Quilt Show Bou-

tique the best ever. If you’d like to join the Boutique committee, let Kim Proulx or

Cathy Geer know. We’d love to have your help. Please bring your quality items to

be donated, to the Havasu Stitchers monthly meeting starting February 7 @ Qual-

ity Inn, 6:30pm. We will be there to collect them. Pick up a prepared kit or use

your own creative talent We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Here are

some suggestions of simple ideas that you can create....pin cushions, pillowcases,

table runners, quilts, wall hangings, baby quilts, baby items, cell phone holders,

purses, tote bags, beach bags, mesh ruler bags, bowl cozies, wine bags, cord

keepers, needle books, or any other idea that you come up with. If you think it

will be a good seller, bring it in. We’ll love it !

General Meeting Minutes

July 11, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Cathy Geer at 6:33 PM.

Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the June 13, 2019 General Meeting were posted on the website and printed in the July Newsletter. A motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Lisa Mousel; second by Linda Visnaw; no changes to the minutes were presented; motion carried.

A 50/50 raffle was held tonight by Lisa Mousel and Ellie Scamardo. The three winners of the “Queen of Diamonds” were: Kathy Culp, Jelly Roll; Christy Marxsen (2) Jelly Roll and Seam Ripper. The Queen was not drawn and the pot goes to $100 from the origi-nal $50.

Announcements:

Cookbooks are dwindling, make sure to get your books at the next meeting or at the Quilt Show, 63 books remain.

President Geer read the report from out roving reporter Lula Mae and Mini Peal

President Geer went over the results of the Stitcher survey conducted at the June meeting. 42 surveys received of 43:

Room setup 22 liked the round tables, demos to be conducted one at a time.

Favorite part of the meeting is the demos and least is the business. Cutting the business section shorter.

Social activities, one day field trips were the favored and you loved the Coffee’s at members home. We need volun-teers to coordinate the field trips and members to sign up for Coffees

Classes – you want classes, Cathy said you need to sign up and offer to teach. 17 of you were willing to get involved.

1st VP-Education Report: We still need this position filled.

Secretaries Report: Sherri Ashford and Mary Beth Peters; Nothing to report.

Treasurer’s Report: Deanna Pepe reported that we have $26,000 in the bank.

Membership Report: Barb Smith reported that 49 members signed in for tonight’s meeting; we also have 1 new member. The new member was welcomed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Transition House: Dottie Holman shared going well and the Catholic Charities are very appreciative.

Boutique: Kim Proulx thanked members for the donations already received and encouraged additional donations; get free fabric for Boutique projects from Sherri at Copper Canyon.

Quilting at the Lake: Linda Visnaw provided a great slide show on all the teachers.

Quilt Show: Kevin reported that:

We have the volunteer sign up book, check it out

He has the quilt registration forms, pick them up – Quilts in by 10/1 and must have the four (4) forms with the submission. You can turn in the forms ahead of time with a picture of the quilts; you can submit up to 5 quilts only the #1 is guaran-teed to be in the show.

Oodles of Noodles – 26 have signed up they must be submitted to Audrey King by September meeting.

Christmas Party (December 8, 2019): Sherri Ashford reported that brunch tickets will be on sale at the August general meeting.

Tips & Tricks: Sherri Ashford gave us tips on thread. Shredding at the needle, you need a bigger needle and what makes thread better than others “it’s all about the twist”.

Break was held

Demonstrations: “Hexies” was the topic and Phyllis Barton and Geneva Horning gave us a wonderful demonstration on how to make these little jewels!! The presentation was enhanced with Linda Visnaw’s hand held projector showing on the wall so we could all see the demo!!

Adjournment:

A motion to adjourn was made by Susan Austin; second by Ellie Scamardo; motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:01 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Sherri Ashford, Co-Secretary
