President’s ReportPresident’s Report

Well folks, a change of the guard at the Thunderbirds AGM, which was on the 1st of April this year. Stewart (our past president) unfortunately was unable to continue with the great job he was doing. Still, we hope to see Stewart at a few of the meetings and club runs during the year in between Stewart and Jo’s travels around the country, Stewart…on behalf of the club, we would all like to thank you for a job well done. It certainly was a pleasure having you on the clubs team, and I know everyone has en-joyed the effort you have put into the meetings, and thanks Joanne for lending him to us. Also a special thanks to Darryl Heiner for his historical knowledge in his previous role as our dating officer, being able to explain the process and unravel the layer of paperwork that main roads required was most helpful for first timers registering a club plated car, Darryl has been a long time supporter of the club, and we have been lucky to have had him in this role, many thanks again Darryl. At the AGM Barry Ralph picked up Vice President, with Dennis Williams our new Dating officer, Bill McGregor was kind enough to pick up the secretary role, (Bill’s wonderful attention to detail is a real blessing for this role) and the ever wonderful Merron Rosanoff as club treasurer (a great eye for decimal points) Dave Bain has excepted to continue the chal-lenge to get the skills of editor well and truly under his belt, and Johnny’s love of the computer world has stayed on as Web master and public relations officer (thanks Johnny). We also welcome Ron Birkbeck as merchandising officer. Congratulations to everyone, we have a great team together for the next term and I look forward to an enjoyable year, The Club would also like to welcome new members, Mark McGill , 67’ Mustang, Alan and Linda Hoggart, who are really excited about the new arrival of their 66 Lan-dau, and Chris and Ann Murray currently working on their 65’ hardtop, we hope to see you all soon, on the next available run that you can make. Barry Ralph’s overnight run to Ballina went off really well, 14 people where on the trip and everyone had an entertaining weekend, it was a great spot, very scenic and great!! company. Thanks for organising the run Barry. The next club run is in May to the Full Moon Hotel Sandgate 20th May, it is a great spot overlooking the water across to Redcliffe, come and join us for lunch and catch up, and let us know how your classic has been going. Keep May the 4th - 7th free if you can, the Garter Belts and Gasoline festival is just around the corner, a great themed car show, which is on the Sunday 6th lots of colour and entertainment for all the family, a chance for the girls to dress up and get into the swing of things.

.At the end of the month, there is the Pine Rivers Rodz, Rock and Roll 26th May. Included in the line up are the Delltones (awesome), and a great list of rock bands during the day, and into the evening. Another fun themed show for all the family, last years event was just great. It’s an awesome month, so keep the grease guns handy, oil topped up, grab out those polishing rags, and cruise along to this months events I also take this opportunity to pass on the clubs thoughts and best wish’s to Ron and Barb, Ron had a little set back and ended up in hospital recently, but we are all very glad and extremely happy to say, he has come through with flying colours. Rest up Ron, we look forward to seeing you again very soon. Kind regards to all Keep those cars moving………. Kieran (Club President)

Hey you all out there in Thunderbird World, thanks for your vote to keep me on as Editor, I managed to palm off a couple of other jobs so thank you to Ron who will revitalize the merchandise, and Barry has taken on Vise! Troop-ers Merron, Bill and Johnny have stayed on in their jobs whilst Dennis is doing the Dating. Stewart has done a terrific job but we could not chain him down so it will be up to KC to fill his shoes, as you can see by the El Presidente’s report he’s doin just fine! Even though Daz has retired from Dating I’m sure he will still be Kruisin around. BEST WISHES for a speedy recovery go out to Ron who had a little water pump bypass to keep his V8 going ! STOP PRESS !!! Our best wishes to BILL whom is recovering in hospital hotel after a nasty little incident . Keep on Kruisin , Davo.

Bruce Panton’s Caboolture Cruise, a great reason to hit the bitumen and get on the freeway and give that V8 a chance to stretch its legs, if its been sitting in the garage for too long? then this sort of venue is just the ticket, no entry fee, just show up and

park. Grab a coffee and run into some one you know and often don’t, and have a chat. You just never know when some one is going to know that lost bit of info you’ve been looking for. Our weather at the moment made things a little wet early in the morning, but everything went to plan, people driving by stopped and pulled over and came in for a look around, and there was quite a crowd. There was good coffee available from the mobile coffee vendor, and some fantastic vintage motorbikes. Darryl and Mindy took the flames for a cruise on their T Bird, and Bruce’s Ranchero was looking a treat, and the black beast loved opening up the carby and cruising out some miles. Well done Bruce, great idea. Keep them cars moving… KC

Here’s a quick pic of some of the happy cruisers who came to the AGM barbe-que, after the formalities and meeting were dispensed with, a relaxing after-noon of feasting and mingling was enjoyed by some thirty odd members and guests all afternoon. Congratulations go to Kieran Cusack for stepping up to look after the daunting job of President, while Barry Ralph has taken on the backup roll of Vise ! ! We are once again lucky to have the experience and loyalty of long time members; Merron the Treasurer and Bill the Secretary . While merchandising will be re-vived by Ron Birkbeck, and Dating handled by Dennis Williams the Public Re-lations & Web Admin will continue to be surfed by Johnny. And not to mention, yours truly : Ed.

Willowbank Raceway Queensland Auto Spectacular 2012

Yet another great day out, the Qld weather (as crazy as it is in recent months) produced the sun at the right time to make it an enjoyable Sunday show for all to see. According to Johnny Baxter, “as good a turn out as last year, and the spectators where well up on last year’s” which was really encouraging to hear, it is a really well run show and a

lot of time has gone onto it. So it was off for a wander through the swap meet, then back for morning tea with Stewart and Joanne. We had set up in the club area, so that was next on the to do list to check out the club collections, and have a chat. The cars in the judging area where varied and awesome, and plenty of them to look at, then a mingle in with the trade displays, (the good old Titans had their red “T” bird on show) lots

of questions of the products on sale, with very enthusiastic replies, unfortunately the early drizzle meant the drags where cancelled, but all in all every one was really enjoying themselves, Peter Boyle had his baby bird there, so was Jims Big Gal, Barry Ralph had his new T Bird for sale and Elizabeth drove the mercury, Stew s retractable drew plenty of looks in boot, (how does that roof fit in there??) and the big LTD took up its fair share of parking space, plus I picked myself up a set of rear taillights for the old girl, till next time Happy cruising everyone, Kieran
