2013 Pennies 4 Pets Change Campaign!March 9th - 27th

What is Pennies 4 Pets? it is a once a year fund raising campaign put on by the staff and volunteers of the no-kill shelter, the Valley Animal Center, to help support

the best possible care for the up to 500 animals in the shelter! Help homeless animals in our community today by sparing a few pennies.

How To Donate! Stop by your nearest all month long and hand your donation to a teller to go in the Valley Animal Center account.

Come by the Valley Animal Center 7 days a week to drop off your collection.

Follow our month-long calendar of events, and come see us in person around Fresno! Drop off an item from our ‘Wish List’ at www.valleyanimal.org at the CBS47 Collection Drive on March 27. How Your Donations Help! Collecting $25 will feed an animal at the Valley Animal Center for 1 whole month. Collecting $100 will spay or neuter a dog and a cat, which will directly save lives of animals in our community.

Where do your pennies go?

Meet Mars, a young, adult male feline that was brought to us with an untreated upper respiratory infection, which if it had been treated in a timely manner, could have been easily alleviated by the proper care and medical attention. Unfortunately, by the time we got Mars into our care, the infection had already progressed too far. Our veterinarian was forced to perform a surgery to remove the entire eye due to the advanced infection. Mars is now in recovery, being looked after and babied by Valley Animal Center staff.

Meet

Mars.

This young, vibrant cat will have to adjust to the rest of his life without two eyes - but our staff’s quick actions saved his life. This is also in large part due to you, the public, whose generous donations make possible our efforts to help as many homeless animals as possible. Mars is almost ready to go back out into the shelter, and wait for a forever family to find him...and if his playful demeanor is any indication, he will make a wonderful addition to any home! Your willingness to collect change will GREATLY benefit ALL animals that come through our doors.

#13548Dot is a

fun-loving

female pointer mix who just

turned a year old! She loves to

play and run around, and is also

quite intelligent! She did very

well in our dog training class,

and was quick to pick up new

things! She would do best

in a single-dog home.

Meet Dot!

#13474Sydney is a handsome male Manx and Siamese mix who

is two and a half years old. He loves sunning

himself in windows and

playing with dogs. He needs an indoor lifestyle

and a patient family,

because he is a little shy.

Meet Sydney!

#13592Sweete, pronounced

“Sweetie” lives up to her

name! She is a 12-year-old

female dachshund mix who

is great with other dogs and

people of all ages. She has

even been an education and

outreach dog for a class of

100 first graders!

Meet Sweete!

Twin

orange tabby sisters

Minnie (#13661) and

Mollie (#13660) are

female domestic short-haired cats who

are two and a half years old. These

friendly, outgoing girls are hoping to

get a home together, but will need a

family where someone is home most

of the time...as they tend to get into

trouble when left home alone too long!

#13451 Jade is a gorgeous female declawed domestic medium haired cat who is five and a half years old. Unfortunately, declawed cats like Jade often experience emotional and physical trauma as a result of being declawed, so they sometimes have trouble finding a forever home. Jade prefers to keep to herself with other kitties,

but enjoys being petted and scratched behind the ears by her many admirers!

Meet Jade!

male Chihuahua mix who

has been with us since he

was a young puppy, along

with his sister, Tora. They

are both active, playful

pups who enjoy snuggling

with one another and romping around together

with their kennel-mates!

Be the Change! Pledge to Adopt! More than 95,000 animals await their forever homes in Valley shelters each year. Approximately 67%

of these adoptable pets don't find that forever home, and are euthanized. By adopting a pet from a local shelter or rescue group, YOU can make a difference in the lives of shelter animals! If every family in Fresno

adopted one shelter pet, we could bring our region's euthanasia rate down to 9%!

February 1st through September 1st, the Valley Animal Center is asking you to 'be the change', through your 'pledge to adopt!' By taking the pledge online, you'll be kept up to date with our latest adoption promotions

as well as behavior tips, helpful tricks, and fun shelter facts! Did we mention you'll also receive $10 off any service at the Valley Animal Center?

It's time to find your forever friend, the right one is waiting for you at your local shelter!

Page 4

Our combined efforts over the next 6 months will hopefully see a HUGE leap in our number of adoptions, saving more lives, but we need YOUR help. Learn more and TAKE THE PLEDGE TODAY.

What else? When you adopt from our shelter through Sept 1st - you get a free t-shirt to help us spread the word! Campaign made possible by a grant from Pedigree Foundation.

Long-time Valley Animal Center supporter Deja LaMoure is a medical school student and owner of DSL Fitness, LLC. She decided that just climbing Mount Everest was not enough, so she is using this amazing opportunity to give back and raise money for Valley Animal Center, as the adopted animals in her life have given her so much joy! Her climbing partner John is a 6-year veteran of Search and Rescue, a member of the National Ski Patrol for over 15 years and a fellow animal lover. He is also on board to help our shelter!

Please join Deja and John in their cause to raise money for animals in need. Donate a set dollar amount or pledge by elevation climbed on this historic Everest journey! Funds raised through Everest for the Animals also go toward our Pennies for Pets Change Campaign goal. No amount is too small, and all donations go directly to the animals! Donations can be made at our shelter or online.

We are going to be tracking Deja and John’s progress daily as they climb Mount Everest, as well as featuring her blog and photos as she sends them on our website!Check out Deja’s website on your computer or by following the QR code here with your Smart Phone to donate or track this unique, exciting journey!
