Salt Lake Volleyball hit the court for the last two weeks preparing to see their first round of ac-tion this weekend . After catching up with Head Coach Sue Dulaney she had some insight on this upcoming season .

“The chemistry on this team is different than last year, as coaches we saw it in day one,” coach Dulaney said . “Different doesn’t mean bad, it just was more energized and positive .”

Last season, the Bruins volleyball team finished the season as the No. 9 team in the Nation. SLCC went 27-10 overall and 8-2 in conference play . Salt Lake took the runner-up position at the Region 18 tournament before setting their sights on the National Tournament, where they won the Consolation Bracket . This year, the team is returning six sophomores, four of which were starters, the most out of the region .

“Our current sophomores learned many lessons from last year’s sophomores,” coach Dulaney said . “Our sophomores have to come into our program making an impact both on and off the court . They set the tone of the team and guide our freshman . I think that is one of the biggest lessons we learned from last year .”

The Utah based crew added seven new Utah kids and one lone Texan to the roster .“Our freshmen are athletic and have been like sponges learning and growing,” said coach Du-

laney . The team has all been in Utah for the summer, which has provided them the opportunity to get

comfortable and train with one another .“Since we (as coaches) cannot have contact with them they stepped up and did it together . They

have all worked hard this summer in open gyms and in the weight room and they came back in great shape,” coach Dulaney said .
