Volkswagen Scramble Sunday, 19 th January 14 teams competed in the Volkswagen Scramble on Sunday, a 4 person Ambrose event where the winning team gains entry to the Regional Final (this year at Koowinda Waters) where the winners go on to compete in the National Final being held at Twin Waters Golf Club on the Sunshine Coast in early May. The winners on Sunday was the team of Garry Train, Errol Munzenberger, Greg Noble and Tony Seamer with a net score of 54.875 after having an 8 under par scratch score. It was a very close competition with Neil Bridge, Norm Redgrove, Ben Bridge and David Matt finishing runner up with their 55.375 score after also having an 8 under par score. Peter Wilton, Mark Moylan, Paul Bush and Dean Fowler finished third with their 55.625 score. I’m sure there will be many stories of missed putts and unlucky bounces, especially significant when you consider only 3 shots separated the first 8 teams. On Saturday the competition round was washed out after the course was inundated with heavy rain—a sight for sore eyes for this dusty, dry course. The rain was most welcome and celebrated—except for the few players who were caught in the storm, although being drenched after our recent hot, dry weather would be a great experience!
