SOUTHOLD LITTLE LEAGUE ASSOCIATION is building a ball diamond on Carroll Avenue, Paconic, corner of Peconic Lane. James Rich, Sr., donated about 9 acres and Frank Cichanowicz of Briarcliff Sod Farms donated over 18,000 square feet of sod for the four infields. In this picture, association members were laying the sod. The association president is John Droskoski, Henry Santacroce Is the vice-present and Palmer Schade, secretary-treasurer. GREENPORT HISTORICAL SOCIETY held their annual dinner Saturday night at Porky’s, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hall as special guests, and hearing an interesting account of Greenport’s past history from James Monseil. presen t a combined concert with Sayvillc High School Band on May 12 at 8 p .n i . Admission price is SI and the public is encouraged to support this organizaiton. Tickcts may be p u r chased from any band m e m b er or at the door.
On Thursday . May 15. the French Club and Bicycle Club will sponsor a bicycle race as a part of Spirit Week. The race will be 7 to 8 miles long and will be a relay race with 7 people on cach team . Each team m ust consist of 3 people who have com pleted French 2. 1 person who is currently in or who has been in the bicycle club and any 3 others. On May 8 th e re will be a bike safety lecture followed by inspection of bikes. Inspection will also take placcon May 9 and all bikes m ust pass inspection. T here is a registra tion fee of $1 per person and first prize is a $5 gift certificate for each m em ber of the winning team and second prize is a S3 gift certificate for each m e m b er of the sccond placc t e a m . The race will begin at 3>t,T.m.
The special Spirit W eek issue of Sesquipedalian Repapsw en should be out next week. The s ta ff is currently planning the ir final issue to be on sale in Ju n e .

This y ea r ’s prom will be Saturday. Ju n e 14 at the Southold Legion. The band will be the Linx and the prom will be from 9 to 3. Both the price and them e have not been announced .

Main Road and now of Patchogue, was given a delightful su rp rise luncheon last Tuesday by about 30 o f the ladies of the M ethodist C hurch . M rs. Lund p resen ted the ladies with a beautiful a fghan , which she h ad m ade for the ir su m m er fair.
Mr. and M rs. Sam M arkel and the ir daug h te r , J e a n M arie , visited with fr iends in W ash ing ton , D.C. last week. They also toured Baltimore and Philadelphia.
