Meet the new SAC Director Last month, Nina Delucchi joined the Naples Youth team as the new School Age Care (SAC) Director. She has a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Administration, with an emphasis on Community Recreation, and started working with children through Camp Adventure. In the last four years as Project Coordinator for the summer day camp program, Nina worked at many military bases overseas, not only in Italy, but also in Spain and Japan, to name a few. “Children are the future. To better their lives they need to participate in quality programs,” says Delucchi

when asked why she likes working with children. “When I began working in a park setting with children, I saw the need of strong programs. I’ve seen many different installations and this is one of the better ones.”

Employment Opportunities for teens & adults There are various employment opportunities for teens and adults with the Teen, CDC and Youth Sports divisions. In May, Teens interested in working with MWR in various divisions can register for the Teen Employment Program. This program is open to teens who are 15-18 yrs old US ID cardholders. They must be available the first two weeks of June for the training session and will work from June-August. Currently, Youth Activities is looking for a Child Development Center Director and an Education Specialist (Teen Director). Various flex and part-time positions are also open to adults who enjoy travelling and would like to head up clubs of their choice and interest in the Teen division. Youth Sports also needs outgoing people who like sports, working with children, and being outdoors.

Our Programs The Naples Youth program, which includes SAC for children 6-12 yrs and the Teen Club for 13-18 yrs, has a variety of daily activities which give children the opportunity to be creative and acquire many different skills. Many of these programs are a part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America’s portfolio, such as the Torch Club, Power Hour, Fine Arts Exhibit, Triple Play and more. The SAC program currently has 76 children registered and also accepts children on an hourly basis. There are many teens registered as members of the Teen Club but even those not yet registered can do so if interested in even one specific program. Membership is free. Some of the more popular upcoming youth programs are the Teen ski trips (Feb. 9 and Mar. 2), the MLK March, ImageMakers Photography Program, and Camp Adventure program. Youth Activities also heads up the Easter Eggstravaganza celebration coming soon.
