The wait is over! Naval SupportActivity (NSA) Naples’ Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department (MWR) is excited to announce that the Reel Times 2 Movie Theater, located on the Support Site, will be offering its First Run Overseas Titles (FROST) movies to the local community the same day that they are premiering in the United States. This change is made possible due to the recent switch fromreel-based (analog) film to a new,high-quality digital system thatincludes the ability to show movies sooner and in 3 dimensions (3D).

“I love going to the movies andpreviously had to wait anywhere from one to three weeks later than my friends in the states to see the newest movies in the movie theater here.” said Emily Williams, a frequent patron of the Reel Times 2, “ When I went to see the new James Bond film, Skyfall; I was bragging about it on Facebook before my friends had even had a chance to see it. That was a great feeling!”


In addition to being able to offer brand new films right away, thetheater has recently been able to please patrons with popular 3D titles on a brand new, enlarged screen in the Freedom Auditorium. Some of the big hits have been Wreck it Ralph, Step Up Revolution, ParaNorman andFinding Nemo. 3D glasses are just $3.00 and can be purchased and re-used for future movies. There is no difference in the admission fee for 3D and 2D showings, allowing patrons to keep their entertainment costs down.

“The upgrade to the latest in digital and 3D technology has been veryexciting for us and is just the first step in a plan we have to complete an overall improvement to the theater,” said Michele DeLuca, Reel Times 2 Theater Manager, who has been with MWR for over 27 years. “Thepotential changes to the theater that the community could see this fiscal year and next include a complete remodel of the concession stand,

automated ticketing kiosks and an improvement to the sound system.Our staff is always striving to providecustomers with an amazingmovie-going experience and these changes will make it easier for us to do that. We encourage everyone to come in and check it all out! ”
