Humble, Texas-If you had told

me 20 years ago that you could

have so much fun driving a four

cylinder automobile I would not

have believed you. But after

testing the all new Hyundai

Elantra GT we now understand.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.8

liter DOHC four-cylinder engine

with 148 horses and 131-lbs per

foot of torque. This engine is

mated to a six-speed automatic

transmission with shiftronic. It

allows you manually shift when

you like or simply hit D and

drive normally.

While going up to Humble for

the North Forest playoff football

game Dr. Victor Keys and I

enjoyed the ride. The sporty

looking GT has some all new

freshly done line and it actually

turned a few heads as we drove

into Turner Stadium.

Economy plays a big role in

deciding on a vehicle these days

and the Elantra GT comes with

an average of 30 miles per gal-

lon. More than 95% Korean, the

transmission and engine both are

Korean built and the final

assembly point is Ulsan, Korea.

Highly regarded when it comes

to safety, this Hyundai has a five

star rating for overall vehicle

score by the NHTSA. Frontal

crash rating is five-star for driver

and 4-star for front passengers

with a four-star rating for front

seat riders in side crashes while

a five-star rating for rear seat

riders, plus a four-star rating in

rollovers.

Advanced safety technology

including such features as knee

bars and side impact curtain.

Let’s not forget we are talking

about a vehicle that barely cost

$25,000.

Inside the new Elantra GT you

have a jazzed interior with up to

date gauges and a good looking

instrument cluster. Good air

cushion seats normally found in

models that costs a great deal

more. The steering wheel has

selectable modes and controls

buttons and has four spokes for

easy and comfortable fit.

Sounds come from an

AM/FM/Sirius XM/CD/MP3

audio system with six speakers

that really put out. With iPod

and USB with auxiliary jacks

and Bluetooth hands free system

with voice recognition, this unit

came fully equipped. Again

don’t forget this is all standard

equipment.

Warranties for the new Elantra

GT is five-year/60,000 miles

new vehicle warranty along with

10-year/100,000 miles power

train warrant along with seven-

year/unlimited anti-perforation

warranty. You throw in five-

year/unlimited mile roadside

assistance.

Optional equipments include a

style package with 17 inch Alloy

wheels and P 215/45R 17 tires

and sport tuned suspension.

There is a panoramic Sunroof

and side mirror mounted turn

signal indicators, leather seating

surfaces, with leather wrapped

steering wheel and gear shift

knob. There is a rearview cam-

era and driver power seat with

lumbar support along with alu-

minum pedal to give the unit a

racecar like feel.

Through all of this the model

has ample enough of trunk space

and the overall styling really

caught the eyes of locals during

our week long test period.

In closing please allow me to

add a free tank of gas comes

when you buy one of these out-

standing product lines!

A KING-SIZE VIEWThe 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT

After nearly six years of waiting

and wondering and guessing,

KCOH AM 1430 radio station

has been sold. Reports are La

Promesa Foundation based in

Midland purchased the station

for a reported $2.1 million dol-

lars. With plans of adding it to

the Catholic-oriented Guadalupe

Radio Network which would

certainly mean changes are in

order. Starting out in 1953 the

station moved to Almeda in

1963 and has programmed an

urban-format and is partly

African American owned.

Word is the GRN would only

take the licenses so they can use

it to bring souls back to Christ.

If that is the case there will no

longer be a need for the building

that sits on Almeda nor will

there be a need to hold on the all

the people who are currently

employed at the station. The late

Michael Petrizzo, who passed

away in January 2012, was the

majority owner and his family is

taking the lead with the sale we

are told.

This means longtime talk show

host Michael Harris with 37

years at the station would be

removed and that along would

create a stir in the community.

Fact is Ralph Cooper longtime

sport caster would also be

removed among others. One of

the city’s more popular disc

jockeys in the original D S (Don

Samuel) would also be out of

there as well the legendary Wash

Allen and many other part

timers.

Every since KYOK AM 1590

was sold in the 80s we have

made KCOH our flag ship sta-

tion and worked on several proj-

ects with the station and certain-

ly will miss working with them.

In the coming weeks A King-

Size View will look into the situ-

ation and try to gather some

information as to how this could

happen? Fact is $2.1 million is

not a great deal of money and

one has to wonder why no one

in our community stepped up to

the plate and tried to pool some

resources to get the funding to

buy the station. Let the record

show no one asked me to help in

any way form or fashion.

Whispers are coming out that

minority owner Travis Gardner

and Judson Robinson Jr. knew of

the lowered price and didn’t

bother to tell the community.

Some view this as unfair since it

didn’t give them a fair shake, if

they in fact thought the cost

would have been more. Fact is

the lowest price I heard was $3.8

million dollars and that was dur-

ing the summer months.

At any rate the station that we

have known to love is all but

gone in the coming weeks.

Some word is that the communi-

ty has a chance to try and keep

the call letters and open a station

in the same location, but some-

how that doesn’t seem likely.

But one thing is for sure if what

is been said and written is true

it’s going to be interesting to say

the least!

Dallas, Texas-On the first week-

end of the month of November

Darryl Bellamy and I made the

trip to Big D. We were truly

impressed with the small sedan

we drove. Man with the power-

ful and yet fuel efficient 2.4

Liter engine cranking out 29

miles per gallon on the highway

and 25 in the city. We also

noted the vehicle lived up to its

billing in the category. With con-

tinuously variable transmission

added to this setup we are talk-

ing about smooth sailing to say

the least. Estimates are roughly

4.0 gallons of fuel is used for

each 100 miles driven.

Keep in mind we are talking

about a complete Japanese vehi-

cle with 99% of its part from

Japan. Both the engine and

transmission are built in Japan

and the final assembly point is

Kurashiki, Japan.

The warranties for the Lancer

SE are 10-year/100,000 mile

power train and five-year/60,000

new vehicle limited warranty

with seven year/100,000 miles

anti-corrosion perforation and

five year/ unlimited road side

assistance. Those numbers are

top in class and stacks up well

against any vehicle built any-

where in the world.

Performance and handling are

enhanced by all wheel control

with drive mode-selector

(2WD/4WD/Lock), front

Macpherson struts and real

multi-link suspension. Anti-lock-

ing brakes with electronic brake

distribution plus front stabilizer

bar completes the good handling

packages. Small sedans have

really come of age and they are

so well put together these days

and are excellent buys when you

take a good long look at them.

Once you are behind the wheel

of the new Lancer you get a real

since of feeling pretty safe and

comfortable. Driver side five-

way adjustable power seat as

well as driver seat back pockets

and center arm rest are just some

of the comforts.

The advanced dual front air bags

with front seat mounted side

airbags and side curtain airbags

and yes it even has driver side

knee airbags. Keep in mind we

are talking about a vehicle that

comes with a price tag just over

$22,000. The Lancer also has a

crumple zone as well as engine

immobilizer and tire monitoring

system to name a few more fea-

tures. An interior layout that’s

solid with clear and easy to read

gauges and pretty driver friendly

as well.

A long list of standard features

includes steering wheel controls

for climate and audio controls as

well and height adjustable steer-

ing column.

Sound provided by an optional

710 Watt Max Rockford Fosgate

punch premium sound system

with nine speakers including a

10 inch subwoofer. A Sirius

Satellite radio with three months

free from the date of the sale,

complete with 5CD/MP3 in dash

unit.

In closing please allow me to

add the new Lancer SE gets a

four-star overall rating from the

NHTSA with five-star rating for

driver in frontal crashes with

front passenger four-star rating.

In side crashes front seat gets

five-star rating but the rear seat

rating drops to three-star while

the rollover gets a four-star rat-

ing.

Our King-Size Mover and

Shaker for the month of

November is Coach Michael T.

Haggerty. Coach Haggerty was

the Assistant Head Coach for the

Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team

and former Head Coach of the

Boys’ Junior Varsity Basketball

Team. Currently, he is the Head

Coach of the Eisenhower Sr.

High Co-ed Golf team. Coach

Haggerty also teaches I.B.

History and has taught at the

Middle School level. He is the

father of two children Gabrial

and Kennedy. According to

Tameka his wife of 12 years; he

is a great father and husband. As

a young man growing up, Coach

Haggerty stated that “he always

felt that he could be a great

leader and motivator”. He can be

seen out in the Aldine communi-

ty working with parents, tutoring

young students and encouraging

them to be the very best that

they can be.

While coaching, he is always

calm; his demeanor is pleasant

even in the heat of a Match Play.

Coach Haggerty is a wonderful

role model for his students and

the players on his teams. He is

extremely professional and is

always willing to go well

beyond the call of duty.

I asked Coach Haggerty what

was his proudest moment as a

coach and he said without any

hesitation; “it was the announce-

ment that two of my golfers,

Mariesha Keys and Brandon

Reed were 1st Place Medalists

for the Aldine Independent

School District. This is the first

time in the history of

Eisenhower H.S. that both

golfers won their divisions and

moved on the Regional Finals”.

Coach Haggerty is truly an asset

to the Aldine Independent

School District, Eisenhower

H.S., and the field of Education,

that’s why he is our Mover and

Shaker for November.

Economics is the name of the

game these days and the Honda

Fit Sport is high on that list.

Recently we had the opportunity

to test drive the 2012 Honda Fit

Sport and found the little 5 door

sedan to be interesting to say the

least. Powered by a peppy little

1.5 Liter SOHC 16-valve 4

cylinder engine that produces

117 horsepower, the Fit Sport

also has I-VTEC. Our test vehi-

cle with a manual 5-speed trans-

mission delivers 27 miles per

gallon in the city and 33 on the

highway. Power hits the pave-

ment on P185/55R 16 alloy

wheels circulated with all-season

tires.

With a MSRP of just under 17

Grand this small sedan is 65 per

cent Japanese with both the

engine and transmission being

built in Japan as well. The final

assembly point is Sayamia,

Saitama, Japan and it has 0 parts

content from the U.S. and

Canada.

Rack and pinion steering makes

for solid handling in a small

sedan and the five door setup

allows for many different

arrangement with the rear seats

folding forward increasing the

cargo space.

With a green house front view

the new Honda Fit is easy to

navigate and the driver had plen-

ty of glass surrounding you for

some of the clearest viewing one

could ask for.

More and more small sedans and

hatchbacks are coming equipped

with safety features such as side

impact airbags and side curtain

along with the normal dual stage

setup up front. For this sport

model anti-locking brakes are

another standard feature as well.

Side impact door beams are also

standard and the list goes on and

on.

When you want to jam a 150

watt AM/FM/CD Audio system

with 8 speakers as well as

MP3/WMA playback is also

standard equipment.

The rear seats are 60/40 with

folding feature and the passen-

ger seats have back pockets. A

rear under seat hidden storage

box helps with long trips in this

well built small sedan.

A rear roofline spoiler helps to

add the sporty look of this vehi-

cle and body-colored power

door mirror kind of gives it a

racecar like flare.

In closing please allow me to

add the fog lights and exhaust

finishers just kind of gives you a

real sporty look that fits just

about anyone.

Ed Welburn was named vice

president of GM Design North

America on October 1, 2003,

becoming the sixth Design

leader in GM history. On March

1, 2005, Welburn was named to

the newly created position of

GM vice president, Global

Design, and the first to lead all

of the company’s Global Design

Centers. Welburn also serves on

the company’s Executive

Operations Committee.

As vice president of Global

Design, Welburn has created a

network of ten Design Centers

in seven countries around the

world. He and his team of over

1,900 men and women are

responsible for the design devel-

opment of every GM concept

and production car and truck

globally. The Design Centers are

located in the United States,

Germany, Korea, China,

Australia, Brazil and India.

Under Welburn’s leadership,

GM designed and developed the

revolutionary Chevrolet Volt, an

electric vehicle with extended

range capability that provides

peace of mind by eliminating

range anxiety. At the 2011

North American International

Auto Show, the Volt captured

North American Car of the Year

honors to go along with numer-

ous other accolades, including

Motor Trend Car of the Year.

GM’s Global Design organiza-

tion has been recognized for a

number of other award-winning

designs the last several years,

including:

“Best Concept” for the

Chevrolet MiRay concept car in

the annual Detroit ewsReaders’ Choice Awards at the

2012 North American

International Auto Show.

which was revealed at the 2009

North American International

Auto Show – won the Eyes on

Design Award, Autoweek’s Best

Concept Award and the Detroitews Readers’ Choice Award for

Best Concept.

And in 2008, the Chevrolet

Malibu was named North

American Car of the Year, while

Cadillac captured Motor TrendCar of the Year honors for the

Cadillac CTS and Eyes on

Design awards for both the

CTS-V and CTS Coupe

Concept.

Welburn began his General

Motors career in 1972 as an

associate designer assigned to

the Advanced Design Studios. In

1973, Welburn joined the Buick

Exterior Studio where he worked

on the Buick Riviera and Park

Avenue. In 1975, he was

assigned to the Oldsmobile

Exterior Studio. There he led the

development of a number of

successful production vehicles

and designed the Oldsmobile

Aerotech speed-record vehicle,

which set two world’s records of

more than 257 miles per hour in

1987.

He was named chief designer of

the Oldsmobile Studio in 1989.

Projects there included the

Oldsmobile Antares concept car

and the Oldsmobile Intrigue,

both of which received

AutoWeek magazine awards at

the North American

International Auto Show in

Detroit.

In 1996, Welburn began a two-

year assignment at Saturn, which

led to an overseas assignment in

Germany where he worked on

future global design programs.

Welburn was named director of

GM’s Advanced Design in

Warren, Michigan, in 1998. His

team was responsible for the

development of new and innova-

tive vehicles for all GM brands.

Welburn’s team also led the

development of all GM concept

vehicles, including a new gener-

ation of hydrogen fuel cell con-

cepts.

Welburn was appointed execu-

tive director of design, body-on-

frame architectures, in January

of 2002. In this position, he was

responsible for the three truck

studios at the GM Design Center

in Warren. Projects included the

HUMMER H3, Cadillac

Escalade and the latest genera-

tion of full-size trucks that

reached the market in 2006.

A native of Philadelphia,

Welburn was born on December

14, 1950. He received a bache-

lor’s degree in 1972 from the

College of Fine Arts at Howard

Motors key executive to Howard

University, and was named 2004

Howard University Alumni of

the Year. In 1978, the GM

Foundation, of which Welburn is

a board member, established a

yearly grant award to Howard.

Since then, the total estimated

GM Foundation Grant Fund to

Howard is now well over $1.1

million.

on the board of trustees at the

College for Creative Studies in

Detroit, Michigan.

Welburn has received honors

and special recognition from

Rainbow PUSH and AfricanAmericans on Wheels Magazine. In May 2008, he received the

As the football playoffs begin,

the Studewood Cobras flag team

took to the field and shut out the

Bulldogs 18-0. Quarterback

Mekhi Manley ran 42 yards for

a score to put the game out of

reach early in the fourth period.

Head Coach Clourid Johnson

said after the game his 9-2 team

has a goal of winning the Super

Bowl this year. Johnson is

assisted by Reginald Bell, Teniki

Manuel and Michael Phoenix

and they are on a roll right now.

The Cobras are in their 36th sea-

son and feeling good about their

chances of winning it all. The

most impressive thing about the

Cobras flag team is they actually

threw the football on two occa-

sion and rumor has it they have

even completed some passes this

season. Keep in mind we are

talking about little boys who are

six years and younger on the

flag team.

The Freshmen Cobras under the

leadership of the legendary

Walter Penrice won their game

by the score of 18-0 as Jakobe

Wilkerson led the way with a

big long scoring run. Jakobe a

3rd grader at John F. Kennedy

Elementary School, put on a

show in his runs of more than 30

yards. But he wasn’t alone as

Kameron Waller added a long

run as well for a score. Waller is

a 2nd grader at Lewis

Elementary School and is the

grandson of Michael Phoenix

Senior. They also got good

quality play from Tyree Harris

who is a 3rd grader at Wesley

Elementary School. This year

Coach Penrice is assisted by his

son George Penrice, Everett

Whitaker and Edward Gidrey.

Their squad seems to be jelling

at the right time and could go all

the way as well.

When you look at Cobras who

are doing well on other levels

these young guys have reasons

to look ahead. Former Cobra

John Gibbs connected on 18 of

38 passes for 218 yards and

three touchdowns to help Alcorn

beat Texas Southern University.

Also Craig Loston intercepted a

pass and returned it 100 yards to

help Louisiana State University

turn back Mississippi State.

Loston who played his high

school football at Aldine-

Eisenhower is also a former

Studewood Cobra.

Humble, Texas-The North Forest

Bull dogs are snapping their way

to week 12 action against

Rosenberg-Terry High School

after they turned back Fort Bend

Ridge Point 41-23. The game

played at the all-new Turner

Stadium in Humble on Saturday

night 11/17/12. In talking with

Coach Atkins we learned he has

the upmost respect for Coach

Brett Sniffin who also is from

Iowa and says they were fortu-

nate to come out on top. The

Iowa native went on to say he

knows a little about winning and

won a state championship in his

high school days. “The most

important thing here is the kids

are willing to work hard and the

community is rallying around

this team and we hope to keep

winning to give them something

to be proud of”.

When asked about his success,

Atkins made it clear the weight

room is the key. “My high

school coach taught us to lift

weights and we still hit the

weights three times a week”.

Relating to kids is a big key and

I’d say North Forest probably

had enough talent to win with

them in the past but its impor-

tant to work hard. “We have

been blessed to not have any

serious injuries this season and

we plan to continue to work

hard and build on what we’ve

got going”.

His team jumped out early and

scored 14 points in the first peri-

od and looked as if they were

going to run away with the

game. “I’m use to scoring fast

and scoring early and often but

tonight we just weren’t able to

push them around as much as

we had teams in the past, but

this is the playoffs and we final-

ly got it going and our kids

made some big plays on defense

and we got the win”.

In closing the mild mannered

coach hugged his high school

state championship coach and

went to gather his team up. It’s

been a great while since North

Forest has been this successful

and they plan to add to it when

they face Rosenberg-Terry in the

area round of the Class 4A foot-

ball state playoffs.

Humble, Texas- Fleet footed

Anthony Jones followed his

blocking very well as the

Bulldogs of North Forest beat

Fort Bend Ridge Point 41-23.

The junior tailback didn’t mind

running inside despite his small

statue. “We worked very hard

in practice and I have to give

the credit to my offensive line

because they made it easy for

me to run tonight”. Jones fin-

ished with 96 yards and scored

four touchdowns in only 14 car-

ries on the night.

As we talked more with Jones

we learned he simply was fol-

lowing the blocking and says

when he sees the hole he is

going to hit, “I think we can go

to state and win it all if we keep

following our coach advice”.

It also helped that the Bulldogs

have a big back in Alex

Benjamin and another good jun-

ior in Jarvis Harris to keep

teams honest. It also makes it

hard to key on a certain back.

In closing Jones said the

Bulldogs plan are to keep work-

ing hard and do what they do all

the way to state.

The recent actions by

Historically Black College and

University (HBCU) band mem-

bers have fueled the flames of

traditional, sadistic, hazing ritu-

als of yesteryear usually for

entrance into Kappa Kappa Psi

Band Fraternity and /or Tau Beta

Sigma Band Sorority. These

illegal actions could be fodder

for the extinction of the time-

honored, culturally-entertaining

performances of the black col-

lege band.

Locally, Texas Southern

University handed down sanc-

tions against its famed Ocean of

Soul Marching Band at the end

of September by not allowing

the group to practice or perform

at football games. In the com-

munity, it is a well known fact

that football season at HBCU’s

is the equivalence of a ‘Super

Bowl’ partially for its half-time

performances by the talented

school bands. Half-times are so

popular they are referenced as

“the game and a half.”

TSU’s investigation by its police

department reportedly found that

19 band members from the

trumpet section were involved in

initiation paddlings (beatings)

that severely injured at least one

student who then went to the

school’s administration. After

the investigation, a university-

appointed task force recom-

mended penalties for the student

perpetrators. Reportedly, ten

upperclassmen were suspended

from the university for the

semester along with revocation

of their band scholarships. Nine

freshmen were reprimanded.

They resumed play in October.

The Ocean of Soul’s suspension

came on the heels of the famed

Florida A&M University

(FAMU) Marching 100 band’s

senseless acts of hazing that

included: beatings, bruisings, a

fractured limb and the death of

a drum major. FAMU band’s

infractions lead the administra-

tion to suspend the entire 500-

member band. Unfortunately for

both alumni, fans and the col-

lege musicians, they have been

silenced and are on a year long

suspension.

Black College bands in a nut-

shell are a mainstay within the

Black community. They are

akin to the Black Church, the

cornerstone of the community.

They have performed at top-

notch events from N.F.L. Super

Bowls to U. S. Presidential

Inaugural activities. They have

entertained us and made us

proud for many, many years.

They have taken us on musical

journeys that last a lifetime.

They offer a marching musical

escape from our everyday life

hassles. They can take us way

back with renditions of rhythm

and blues. They can take us to

church with that good old

gospel. They can make us move

our bodies with pop music.

They can give us chills with

beautiful patriotic songs. Or

they can make us reflect on our

heritage with soulful sounds.

Whatever the genre of music,

often times, we live vicariously

through these bandsmen and

bandswomen. And as for the

dance ability, none can compare.

Simply said, “We got rhythm.”

And, yes, we definitely have a

long lasting love affair with our

Black College bands.

Show-stopping, high-stepping

and tintillating, are but a few of

the words that are used to

describe our iconic black college

bands. With nicknames like:

‘Ocean of Soul’, ‘Marching

100’, ‘Marching Thunder’,

‘Human Jukebox’, and ‘Sonic

Boom of the South’, hundreds of

other black college bands have

entertained millions and pro-

duced many successful profes-

sionals in all walks of life. So

when something as antiquated

and unnecessary as injury and/or

death by hazing occurs, we col-

lectively shake our heads, gasp

and say “Oh My God!” or “I

can’t believe it!”

Now that we are over the shock,

we must collectively let the

young college musicians know

that no organization, no group,

no club or band is worth the

injury or death of one collegiate,

future professional. One can’t

ever place a value on a life.

There is no place for barbaric

acts of slapping, punching, kick-

ing, beating, etc. of band mem-

bers in today’s society.

This is a call to action to protect

one of the most precious com-

modities in institutions of higher

learning for Black Americans.

We must mobilize! We have to

meet and get organized. We

have to spread the word, that

this is totally unacceptable.

Stop the violence, no more

Black band on Black band

crime. Get involved. This train-

ing has to begin as early as mid-

dle school and continue on

through college.

This is more than our communi-

ty being under attack from with-

in. Simply put, it’s the sheer

survival of or extinction of the

great entity known as the ‘Black

College Band’. Down through-

out history, these marching

aggregations have been the face

of their respective colleges and

universities. And they simply

must be kept alive to march on

into perpetuity. Ditto to black

college fraternities and sorori-

ties.

Humble, Texas-With their fans

screaming to the top of their

lungs at the newly renovated

Turner Stadium the North Forest

Bulldogs snapped their way past

Fort Bend Ridge Point 41-23.

Known for their big point pro-

duction the Dogs did it on

defense as well. It all started

when J. T. Jakubik caught a pass

over the middle and defensive

back Joc LeBlanc laid him out

on the field. Later in the fourth

it was a blocked punt and line-

backer De Marcus Spurlock

recovered it in the end zone for

a touchdown. But it didn’t end

there as defensive back Tyrus

Jones picked off a pass and

returned it 53 yards for a daz-

zling touchdown to put it out of

reach for good. All night long it

was Anthony Davis, Dataveun

Tubbs, Edmond Bell and Erin

Beatty up front making things

tough for Ridge Point offense.

Roaming around in the defen-

sive back field were the likes of

Marquise Cheatham, ZeMarcus

Green, Tyrus Jones and hard hit-

ting Joc LeBlanc. All night long

the Dogs made key defensive

stops.

The game started quickly as

Anthony Jones went in from 10

yards out to open the scoring.

Ridge Point did answer when

Cameron Townsend stepped in

front of a pitch and went 24

yards with a fumble recovery

score but it would be the only

points of the half for the

Panthers. Jones would score

again on a two yard run fol-

lowed by a 16 yard gallop in the

second period. This produced a

20-7 halftime lead and after a

Jordan Davies 32 yard field goal

for Ridge Point, Jones followed

with an 11 yard run to end the

offensive scoring for the Dogs.

Their other two scores came

from the defensive side of the

ball.

Its Rosenberg Terry next for the

Bulldogs and that should be

another interesting matchup to

say the least.

The Lamar Redskins came from

behind to beat Katy-Seven

Lakes 36-33 in a thriller at

Delmar Stadium. Cedric

Lancaster grabbed a 47 yard

pass from Darrell Colbert to

complete the Redskins come-

back. Right off the bat Bryce

Brown booted a 28 yard field

goal for the Spartans but Lamar

answered when Colbert found

Justin Hollie from one yard out.

But Kyle Postma ran five yard

for a score followed by a

Braeden West 2 yard run and the

Panthers led it 27-14. Darrell

Colbert the senior quarterback

was not to be denied as he

passed for four touchdowns on

14 of 31 for 274 yards including

the game winner with only 54

seconds left. The son of former

Beaumont Westbrook state

champion 1982 team, Colbert

showed his ability to keep a cool

head in leading the Skins to their

11th win of the season against

no defeats.

The Katy Tigers clawed their

way past Westbury 77-7 as

Adam Taylor and Rodney

Anderson took turns running

through the Rebels defense. The

win is the Tigers 11th against no

defeats.

Adrian Seales scored five times

and picked up 436 yards while

leading Stafford past Jack Yates

42-20. The back averaged more

than 14 yards per carry against

the Lions defense. But Yates

actually led it 14-0 before Seales

got loose on them.

Spring Westfield blasted Conroe

77-7 as the Mustangs totaled

nearly 600 yards of offense in

the win.

Deer Park beat Pearland 24-10

as Connor Means ran for a score

and passed for another.

Elsik beat Cypress Falls 38-10

as Caleb Bedford connected on

two long scoring passes for the

Rams.

The Woodlands won over Klein

Collins 66-42 in a shoot out as

Blaine Gillespie connected on

nine of 11 passes for 177 yards

and a touchdown and rushed for

another in the win.

Tyler Stubblefield hit on 18 of

30 for 322 yards and three

touchdowns as Lufkin beat

defending state champ Spring

Dekaney 35-20.

North Shore rolled over

Pasadena Dobie 48-7 Micah

Thomas had two scores in the

air and one on the ground in the

win.

Angleton edged Friendswood in

a barn burner 48-41 while Texas

City whipped Lamar

Consolidated 58-17. Langham

Creek won over Eisenhower 38-

21

Pearland Dawson got the upper

hand on Fort Bend Foster 28-14

as James White did his thing

with 175 yards and two scores.

La Porte Bulldogs got past

Pasadena Memorial 29-21 as

Victor Holmes scored twice and

had 90 yards on only 7 carries.

Alief Taylor whipped Cy-Fair

28-7 and Pflugerville Connally

beat Montgomery 33-8. Barber

Hill rolled over Livingston 31-0.

Fort Bend Travis edged Clear

Springs 37-35 and Cinco Ranch

blasted Bellaire 69-13. Clear

Brook edged Fort Bend Austin

28-24 while Cy-Ranch beat

Nimitz in a thriller 42-36.

49-37 and Crosby beat

Beaumont Ozen 22-15. It was

Subject: Happy Holidays;

OTE DEFIITIOS:

Holiday-1. (n.) A religious fes-

tivity:• feast • pageant • feast

day

For those of us that choose not

to follow traditions and doc-

trines of men, this is not a happy

time of the year, but rather a sad

one. This causes pain and suffer-

ing when so many of our fleshly

family members, and/or those

that profess to be followers of

Christ (Christians), choose to do

so. As true followers of Christ

we cannot, and will not;

(Matt.10:32-39; 2Tim.3:12-17;

1Pet.4:1-7). This hurts our

Fleshly feelings, and it goes

against our Carnal wants, (our

Bellies) (Rom.16:16-19;

2Cor.10:1-7; Gal.5:16-26;

Phil.3:16-21; James4:1-10).

Those striving to follow Christ

(Christians) are commanded by

Christ through his apostles, not

to observe or give heed to

fables, traditions, doctrines, and

commandments of men; for

these things are Idle> (free from

labor, at leisure) (Matt.12:35-

37, 1Tim.1:4, 2Tim.4:3-4,

Titus1: 13-14, Col.2:8-10 and

verses 20-22). The command-

ments of God through Christ and

his apostles, edifies the Spiritual

Mind and strengthens the New

Spiritual man in Christ Jesus,

(Rom.12:1-2; 2Cor.5:14-17;

Eph.4:20-24; Col.3:1-10).

Christians must observe all

things that Christ commanded

his Apostles (Matt.28:20;

John17: 20-21; Acts 1:1-4;

2Pet.3:1-3; 1John4:5-6; Jude

1:16-19). ‘Tis a season that is

full of Vanity, decorations, eat-

ing in a gluttonous manner,

drunkenness and fables; which

are lies. Now let’s look at some

lies that have been put in place

by man, Santa (so-called), riding

in a sleigh pulled by flying rein-

deer, and going down a chimney,

of course we know this is a lie.

“Santa Claus”, Father Christ/mas

and or Kris Kringle, derived

from Christ/Kindle, meaning,

“Christ Child“ this is an abom-

inable LIE. “This began in

Germany, among Protestant

denominations”. How many lies

can one tell, or be a part of and

be right with God? Especially

lies involving and surrounding

God’s Beloved Son: in whom

He is Well pleased: (please hear

God and understand;

Matt.17:1-8). Christians MUST

speak and DO the TRUTH, if

we are of Christ, through his

apostles’ Word, (please hear

Jesus John 17:14-21). Can any-

one prove by the inspired

Word, that there were three wise

men; if we cannot, how can we

know it’s true, we cannot?

Think about it, children are

taught that lying is wrong;

except in some cases, one being,

of ALL things, the unauthorized

celebrations dealing with our

Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

This is shameful and DEADLY,

to soul salvation. Why would a

Christian teach damnation to

anyone, especially to their

CHILDREN? There are no

examples and or commands for

Christians to observe Christmas;

thereby being unauthorized by

Christ and or his apostles. This

also sends the message to chil-

dren that, participating in, or

being involved with some lies is

ok, especially the ones that

MAN thinks he has involved

Christ in (1John1:1-6); instead

of teaching the TRUTH; that all

liars will have their part in

HELL. “Rev 21:8 But the fear-

ful, and unbelieving, and the

abominable, and murderers, and

whoremongers, and sorcerers,

and idolaters, and all (1)liars,

shall have their part in the lake

which burneth with fire and

brimstone: which is the second

death.” Definition: (1)all

liars-5571 pseudes (psyoo-

dace’); from 5574; untrue, i.e.

erroneous, deceitful, wicked:

KJV— false, liar. Children are

being brought up in the nurture

and admonition of fables/lies,

traditions, doctrines, and com-

mandments of men, rather than

of The Lord (listen Eph.6:1-4).

Remember Christians are to

exhort to godliness, (1Tim 4:6-

16) please note verses 12&13).

It is so sad that so many souls

observe in any manner these

traditions of men, instead of

following the WORD, which is

given to us by God through

Christ, and his apostles. After all

the Word is our MAP to HEAV-

EN and away from HELL!

Here is another ERRONIOUS

statement, “JESUS IS THE

REASON FOR THE SEASON”;

this is a cunningly devised fable,

in other words, “believable

error”. Jesus has never been and

never will be the reason for any

season, because JESUS IS NOT

SEASONAL. Jesus Christ is a

LIFESTYLE that one MUST

strive as a Christian to live 24-

7. Jesus has left instructions on

what Christians MUST remem-

ber about him, and it is not his

birth, but his death (1Cor.11:23-

34). He lived a life of suffering

(Isaiah 53:1-12; Matt.21:1-7;

Luke 9:57-62; John1:9-11;

John12:25-26), then died most

cruelly on the cross for us all.

Remember, His Father for our

sake was pleased to BRUISE

His only begotten Son,

Isa.53:10. Then, after His death,

and the shedding of blood for

the remission of sin: raised Him

up on the third day, thereby giv-

ing us a chance for salvation, IF

we OBEY and follow HIM,

through his apostles, (John 17:8-

23; John 19:34; Acts 22:16;

1Cor.1:30; 6:11; Eph.5:26-27;

Heb.5:5-9; Heb.9:13-28;

James1:21-22; 1Pet.3:21-22;

1Pet.4:1-3; 1John1:6-10).

“KEEP CHRIST IN CHRIST-

MAS”, this is another cunningly

devised fable, in that the word

Christmas cannot be found in

the inspired WORD, (the

Bible). So then God, the ONE

and ONLY HOLY FATHER,

which IS IN HEAVEN, did not

put his precious Son in it. Christ

being the WORD (John1:1-14),

never practiced it himself, and

GOD made it clear in Matt.

the17th chapter, that

Christians MUST hear his

beloved son, in whom He is well

pleased and him ONLY (verse

8). In Matt. 28:18-20 when

Jesus Christ was about to ascend

back into heaven, he made it

clear to his apostles, that all

power in heaven and earth had

been given unto him, from his

Father which is in heaven. Christ

then began to leave them

instructions on what they MUST

do and teach true Christians to

observe. In these instructions

“Christmas”, and the practice of

it, cannot be found. Now, we

believe this should open the

door for some legitimate ques-

tions, for those who want to

know the TRUTH, and escape

error. For we all MUST strive to

escape error, in order to have

eternal LIFE. Who made

“JESUS THE REASON FOR

THE SEASON”? Who put

“CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS”? It

has been proven by the

Apostles’ Doctrine that God the

father did not; neither did Jesus

Christ and his Apostles. Who

else did Christ leave this author-

ity; NO ONE ELSE. According

to scriptures Jesus left his

Apostles the Word (John17:5-

10), so that when we read

(Eph.3:1-7), study (2Tim.2:15)

and strive to obey (2Thes.1:7-9;

James 1:21-25; 2:17-26;

1Pet.4:12-19) the commands of

the apostles (Acts1:1-4;

Acts2:41-42; 2Pet.3:1-2; 1John

4:5-6; Jude 1:16-19), this and

only this makes us all ONE,

right (righteous) with God. Now

let us examine the origin of this

tradition.

Christmas: Date (Dec. 25), was

established in (A.D. 336), by the

Western Church, based at Rome.

The Eastern Orthodox and the

Eastern Rite churches within the

Roman Catholic Church chose

(January 6). There seems to

have been some confusion on

the date of which this day was to

be observed. God is not the

author of confusion (listen

1Cor.14:33), this only happens

with man’s traditions. This is

why Christians MUST observe

all things that Christ has com-

manded the Apostles,

(Matt.28:20). Again you will

not find the word

“Christmas”, or the traditional

practice of it, by Christ nor his

Apostles. So, there is no such

custom in the Church of God

(1Cor.11:16), which he pur-

chased with his blood

(Acts20:28), which is the

Church of and by Christ (Matt.

16:16-18; Eph.3:21; 5:23-33;

Col.1:18). As we can tell by the

dates given, this tradition came

MUCH TOO late to be of Christ

or his apostles. According to

Christ Himself, Christians

MUST believe on Him through

his Apostle’s word, (John17:20-

21) and continue STEADFAST,

in the apostle’s doctrine, as

those before us (Acts2:41-42),

this is SAFE.

The TREE is one of the main

things GLORIFIED in this tradi-

tion, which man has WITHOUT

AUTHORITY; thereby without

success, tried to make Jesus the

reason for. After all, this is

where the so called “GIFTS” are

laid, and so much time is spent

in the DECORATING of it. The

children of Israel were warned

of a similar custom; “Jeremiah

10:1 Hear ye the word which the

LORD speaketh unto you, O

house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the

LORD, Learn not the way of

the heathen, and be not dis-

mayed at the signs of heaven;

for the heathen are dismayed at

them. 3 For the customs of the

people are vain: for one cutteth

a tree out of the forest, the work

of the hands of the workman,

with the axe. 4 They deck it with

silver and with gold; they fasten

it with nails and with hammers

that it move not.” Now man has

introduced the tradition of the

“Christmas Tree”, that many

Professing to be Christians, “fol-

lowers of Christ”, observe. How

can this be, when this tradition

cannot be found in the apostles’

doctrine or in the inspired

WORD of the bible, at all?

Man himself proves the fact that

Jesus is not the reason for the

season, and that he is not in it.

For when the, so-called,

Christmas season starts, what is

truly thought of the most? Is it

Christ or is it the time off, the

vain carnal trees and decora-

tions, the materialistic gifts,

the glutinous foods and drinks,

the carnal games and the flesh-

ly family gatherings? Where is

Christ? Let your conversation be

ONLY about Christ, the scrip-

tures, and soul salvation while at

these gatherings and see how

popular you will be, (Philp.1:27;

1Tim.4:11 -16; 1Pet.1:13-19;

2Pet.3:8-12). Take the carnal,

fleshly wants of man out of the

equation; there would be no

observance of these carnal days

that Christ has not authorized

to those that are his. The proof is

in the pudding; our GOD is truly

our BELLIES Phil 3:16-20,

because it seems nothing can be

done without carnal food. Today,

even buildings that should

OLY be built for worship,

which include the serving of

SPIRITUAL food, for the spiri-

tual edification of the body of

Christ, must have KITCHENS.

Here Jesus made it clear what is

truly needful; Luke 10:38

Now it came to pass, as they

went, that he entered into a cer-

tain village: and a certain

woman named Martha received

him into her house. 39 And she

had a sister called Mary, which

also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard

his word. 40 But Martha was

cumbered about much serving,

and came to him, and said, Lord,

dost thou not care that my sister

hath left me to serve alone? bid

her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said

unto her, Martha, Martha, thou

art careful and troubled about

many things: 42 But one thing

is needful: and Mary hath cho-

sen that good part, which shall

not be taken away from her.

Please read what Jesus told the

multitude; “John 6:26 Jesus

answered them and said, Verily,

verily, I say unto you, Ye seek

me, not because ye saw the mir-

acles, but because ye did eat of

the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat

which perisheth, but for that

meat which endureth unto ever-

lasting life, which the Son of

man shall give unto you: for him

hath God the Father sealed.”

Now here is an example given

by Jesus Christ, for those that

were to be invited to a feast.

Now this is not the so called

GIFT giving as pre-mentioned,

but TRUE GIFT giving, and

Christians MUST be of the

TRUTH, John17:16-17. Note

the definition of GIFT (g¹ft) n.1. Something that is bestowed

voluntarily and without (1)com-

pensation; “Luke 14:12 Then

said he also to him that bade

him, When thou makest a dinner

or a supper, call not thy friends,

nor thy brethren, neither thy

kinsmen, nor thy rich neigh-

bours; lest they also bid thee

again, and a recompence be

made thee. 13 But when thou

makest a feast, call the poor, the

maimed, the lame, the blind: 14

And thou shalt be blessed; for

they cannot (2)recompense thee:

for thou shalt be recompensed

at the resurrection of the just.”

Definitions:(1)com·pen·sates.

—tr. 1. To offset; counterbal-

ance. 2. To make satisfactory

payment or reparation to; recom-

pense or reimburse. (2) for they

cannot recompence thee-468

antapodoma-the thing paid back,

requital; 467 antapodidomi (an-

tap-od-ee’-do-mee): KJV— rec-

ompense, render, repay.

It is of SPECIAL CONCERN,

when those professing to be of

the one body, the church of and

by Christ (Matt.16:13-20;

Eph.3:21), observe such tradi-

tions and doctrines in any man-

ner. For there are those that say,

“We don’t observe these days in

a religious manner, but in a

SECULAR one”; REALLY?

Definition: SEC·U·LAR adj. 1.

Worldly rather than spiritual;

Earthly, earthy, materialistic,

ultra mundane, Temporal,

Terrestrial, Physical, Carnal,

mortal, World. How can those of

the one faith even think about

“secular” DAYS, let alone be

PARTAKERS of them, and then

call Him Lord, Lord. “Luke

6:46 And why call ye me,

Lord, Lord, and do not the

things which I say? See also

Matt 7:21-24. These practices

cause those of the one faith, to

be idolaters; lukewarm, dou-

bled minded enemies of the

CROSS of CHRIST, minding

SECULAR things. Followers of

Christ must reprove those things

that cannot be found in the

Apostles’ doctrine, rather than

participate in them (see Eph. 5:

6-17). We must be the (1)SALT

of the earth, not mind the things

of the earth, thereby being the

(2)LIGHT of the world

(Matt.5:13-16), rather than being

(3)conformed to this world

(Rom.12:1-2).

circumspect, wise, levelheaded,

sound, sensible, reasonable:

applications, including com-

pleteness.

fornicators: 10 Yet not altogeth-

er with the fornicators of this

world, or with the covetous, or

extortioners, or with idolaters;

for then must ye needs go out of

the world. 11 But now I have

written unto you not (1)to keep

company, if any man that is

called a brother be a fornicator,

or covetous, or an idolater, or a

railer, or a drunkard, or an extor-

tioner; with such an one no not

to eat. 12 For what have I to do

to judge them also that are with-

out? do not ye judge them that

are within? 13 But them that are

without God judgeth. Therefore

put away from among your-

selves that wicked person.

Definition: (1)NOT to keep

1 Cor 6:9 Know ye not that the

unrighteous shall not inherit the

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor

drunkards, nor revilers, nor

extortioners, shall inherit the

kingdom of God. 11 And such

were some of you: but ye are

washed, but ye are sanctified,

but ye are justified in the name

of the Lord Jesus, and by the

Spirit of our God. 1 Cor 10: 6

Now these things were our

examples, to the intent we

should not lust after evil things,

as they also lusted. 7 Neither be

ye idolaters, as were some of

them; as it is written, The peo-

ple sat down to eat and drink,

and rose up to play. 1 Cor

10:19 What say I then? that the

idol is any thing, or that which is

offered in sacrifice to idols is

any thing? 20 But I say, that the

things which the (1)Gentiles

sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils,

and not to God: and I would not

that ye should have fellowship

with devils. 21 Ye cannot drink

the cup of the Lord, and the cup

of devils: ye cannot be partak-

ers of the Lord’s table, and of

the table of devils. 22 Do we

provoke the Lord to jealousy?

are we stronger than he? 23 All

things are lawful for me, but all

things are not expedient: all

things are lawful for me, but all

things edify not.

There are many souls involved

in many things that are not of

the Body that Christ is the

HEAD of (Col.1:18). The

Church that Christ is the head

of, MUST be subject unto

Christ in everything; “Eph

5:23 For the husband is the head

of the wife, even as Christ is the

head of the church: and he is the

saviour of the body. 24

Therefore as the church is

(1)subject unto Christ, so let the

wives be to their own husbands

in every thing.” Definition:

(1)Subject unto Christ -5293

hupotasso; to subordinate;

reflexively, to obey: KJV— be

under obedience (obedient), put

under, subdue unto, (be, make)

subject (to, unto), be (put) in

subjection), submit self unto.

WOE unto any man that tries to

put Christ into anything, or

make him the reason for any-

thing! Man is the CREATURE,

Christ is the CREATOR; please

read John1:1-5; Col. 1:12-20.

Christians MUST heed the warn-

ing of the apostle Peter, whom

some erroneously calls the first

“Pope”. This is error simply

because, the word, Pope, can not

be found anywhere in the

inspired scriptures of the Holy

Bible. However, the one GOD

(Eph.4:1-6), which is in heaven,

the Only Holy Father, Jesus the

Only Christ (Matt.23:5-12), and

his Apostles are found in the

bible. Christians MUST remem-

ber that Peter, one of the apos-

tles and one of the elders, warns

the Church that Christ is the

HEAD of, to beware of cunning-

ly devised fables; but first note

what the apostle Paul says, then

the apostle Peter, as they were

guided by The Holy Ghost; “Gal

2:6. But, of these who seemed

to be somewhat, (whatsoever

they were, it maketh no matter

to me: God accepteth no man’s

person:) for they who seemed to

be somewhat in conference

added nothing to me: 7 But

contrariwise, when they saw that

the gospel of the uncircumcision

was committed unto me, as the

gospel of the circumcision was

unto Peter; 8 (For he that

wrought effectually in Peter to

the apostleship of the circumci-

sion, the same was mighty in

me toward the Gentiles:)”(KJV)

Jesus Christ, to the strangers

Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and

Bithynia,(KJV)

among you I exhort, who am

also an elder, and a witness of

the sufferings of Christ, and also

a partaker of the glory that shall

be revealed: (listen to 2Pet.1:1

2 Pet 1:15 Moreover I will

endeavour that ye may be able

after my decease to have these

things always in remembrance.

the power and coming of our

Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-

witnesses of his majesty.

Definitions: (1) ot followed-

ity. (2) Cunningly devised-

fable, an invention, a falsehood

“PEACE O EARTH”

Luke 2:11 For unto you is born

this day in the city of David a

Saviour, which is Christ the

Lord. 12 And this shall be a

sign unto you; Ye shall find the

babe wrapped in swaddling

clothes, lying in a (1)manger.

13 And suddenly there was with

the angel a multitude of the

heavenly host praising God, and

saying, 14 Glory to God in the

highest, and on earth peace,

good will toward men.(KJV)

Definition:(1)manger 5336

phatne (fat’-nay); from pateomai

(to eat); a crib (for fodder),

man·ger (m³n“j…r) n. A trough

or an open box in which feed for

livestock is placed.: KJV—

manager, stall.

This is what the Angels declared

at the LOWLY birth of Jesus

Christ in the flesh. For we must

remember, Jesus was in the

beginning (John1:1-14), but he

became a little lower than

angels, as God sent his Son in

the likeness of sinful flesh

(Rom.8:1-9; Gal.4:4-5;

Heb.2:7-10). This declaration

that was made by the angels is

heard often this time of the year.

Peace on earth can ONLY exist

if ALL men DENY themselves,

and suffer to obey Christ

through his apostles’ word, doc-

trine, traditions and commands;

as God has commanded (Matt.

17:1-8; 28:18-20; John17:15-

24; Acts2:41-42; 2Thes.2:14-

17; 2Pet.3:1-2; 1John 4:5-6).

Christ’s will have always been

good toward men, but man must

first have a change of MIND

(repentance). “2 Pet 3:9 The

Lord is not slack concerning

his promise, as some men count

slackness; but is longsuffering to

us-ward, not willing that any

should perish, but that all

should come to repentance. 10

But the day of the Lord will

come as a thief in the night; in

the which the heavens shall pass

away with a great noise, and the

elements shall melt with fervent

heat, the earth also and the

works that are therein shall be

burned up.11 Seeing then that

all these things shall be dis-

solved, what manner of persons

ought ye to be in all holy con-

versation and godliness,” But

man wants to have it his own

way. He wants to be able to

choose his own way to be right-

eous with God, thereby causing

division, variance and confusion.

According to Christ and His

apostles; because of man’s

SCRIPTURAL ignorance

(Matt.22:29), REBELLIOUS

ways (Luke 6:46-49); and

because man loves his life, the

WORLD and the THINGS that

are IN it (John12:25-26; 1John

2:15-17), there is and there will

be no peace on earth

(Matt.10:32-38; Luke 12:51-

53).

Jesus said he didn’t come to

send peace, but a sword, which

is the WORD. If we are

Christians we MUST believe

what Christ says. Do we not

want to know the truth? “Matt

10:32 Whosoever therefore shall

confess me before men, him will

I confess also before my Father

which is in heaven. 33 But

whosoever shall deny me before

men, him will I also deny before

my Father which is in heaven.

34 Think not that I am come to

send peace on earth: I came not

to send peace, *but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man

at variance against his father,

and the daughter against her

mother, and the daughter in law

against her mother in law. 36

And a man’s foes shall be they

of his own household. 37 He

that loveth father or mother

more than me is not worthy of

me: and he that loveth son or

daughter more than me is not

worthy of me. 38 And he that

taketh not his cross, and fol-

loweth after me, is not worthy

of me” (hear also Luke9:57-

62). “Heb 4: 11 Let us labour

therefore to enter into that rest,

lest any man fall after the same

example of unbelief. 12 For the

word of God is quick, and pow-

erful, and sharper than any

*two-edged sword, piercing

even to the dividing asunder of

soul and spirit, and of the joints

and marrow, and is a discerner

of the thoughts and intents of the

heart” (hear also Eph.6:17).

“Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I

am come to give peace on

earth? I tell you, ay; but

rather division: 52 For from

henceforth there shall be five in

one house divided, three against

two, and two against three. 53

The father shall be divided

against the son, and the son

against the father; the mother

against the daughter, and the

daughter against the mother; the

mother in law against her daugh-

ter in law, and the daughter in

law against her mother in law.”

Because of the insistence of

many on following cunningly

devised fables, rather than the

more sure WORD of prophecy

by the apostles, there is confu-

sion. Since many are resolved to

follow blindly, teachers that are

false, without proving them by

the apostles’ doctrine, there is

variance. Because many have

chosen to follow the traditions

and commandments of men,

rather than those of the apostles,

which would make PEACE and

make us ALL ONE in Christ,

there is, and there MUST be

DIVISION; Please hear: “II Th

3:4 And we have confidence in

the Lord touching you, that ye

both do and will do the things

which we command you. 5 And

the Lord direct your hearts into

the love of God, and into the

patient waiting for Christ. 6

Now we command you,

brethren, in the name of our

Lord Jesus Christ, that ye

(1)withdraw yourselves from

tradition which he received of

us.”

though living in the world, are

ye subject to ordinances, 21

(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

22 Which all are to perish with

the using;) after the command-

ments and doctrines of men? 23

Which things have indeed a

shew of wisdom in will worship,

and humility, and neglecting of

the body; not in any honour to

the satisfying of the flesh.

1Thes 5:21 Prove all things;

hold fast that which is good. 22

Abstain from all appearance of

evil.(KJV)

II Th 2:13 But we are bound to

give thanks alway to God for

you, brethren beloved of the

Lord, because God hath from the

beginning chosen you to salva-

tion through sanctification of the

Spirit and belief of the truth:

14 Whereunto he called you by

our gospel, to the obtaining of

the glory of our Lord Jesus

Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren,

stand fast, and hold the tradi-

tions which ye have been taught,

whether by word, or our epis-

tle.(KJV)

2 Tim 3:14 But continue thou

in the things which thou hast

learned and hast been assured of,

knowing of whom thou hast

learned them; 15 And that

from a child thou hast known

the holy scriptures, which are

able to make thee wise unto sal-

vation through faith which is in

Christ Jesus.(KJV)

Titus 1:13 This witness is true.

Wherefore rebuke them sharply,

that they may be sound in the

faith; 14 Not giving heed to

Jewish fables, and command-

ments of men, that turn from the

truth.

2 Pet 1:17 For he received from

God the Father honour and

glory, when there came such a

voice to him from the excellent

glory, This is my beloved Son,

in whom I am well pleased. 18

And this voice which came from

heaven we heard, when we were

with him in the holy mount. 19

We have also a more sure word

of prophecy; whereunto ye do

well that ye take heed, as unto

a light that shineth in a dark

place, until the day dawn, and

the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no

prophecy of the scripture is of

any private interpretation. 21

For the prophecy came not in

old time by the will of man: but

holy men of God spake as they

were moved by the Holy

Ghost.(KJV)

2 Pet 3:1 This second epistle,

beloved, I now write unto you;

in both which I stir up your pure

minds by way of remembrance:

2 That ye may be mindful of the

words which were spoken before

by the holy prophets, and of the

commandment of us the apos-

tles of the Lord and

Saviour:(KJV)

I Jn 4:5 They are of the world:

therefore speak they of the

world, and the world heareth

them. 6 We are of God: he that

knoweth God heareth us; he

that is not of God heareth not

us. Hereby know we the spirit of

truth, and the spirit of

error.(KJV)

Note the apostle Paul as he

admonished the Church in

Corinth, Philippi and

Thessalonica, as he and they, the

apostles were guided by The

Holy Ghost: “1 Cor 11:1 Be ye

followers of me, even as I also

am of Christ. 2 Now I praise

you, brethren, that ye remember

me in all things, and keep the

ordinances, as I delivered them

to you. 3 But I would have you

know, that the head of every

man is Christ; and the head of

the woman is the man; and the

head of Christ is God.” “Phil

4:9 Those things, which ye

have both learned, and received,

and heard, and seen in me, do:

and the God of peace shall be

with you.” “II Th 3:4 And we

have confidence in the Lord

touching you, that ye both do

and will do the things which we

command you. 5 And the Lord

direct your hearts into the love

of God, and into the patient

waiting for Christ.”(KJV)

Our hope is, that all striving to

be Christians, according to the

apostles’ doctrine (Acts1:1-4;

Acts2:41-42), will become in the

future, SPIRITUALLY MIND-

ED and not the SECULARLY

MINDED ones that WE ARE.

Please hear; “ Rom 6:1 What

shall we say then? Shall we con-

tinue in sin, that grace may

abound? 2 God forbid. How

shall we, that are dead to sin,

live any longer therein? 3 Know

ye not, that so many of us as

were baptized into Jesus Christ

were baptized into his death? 4

Therefore we are buried with

him by baptism into death: that

like as Christ was raised up from

the dead by the glory of the

Father, even so we also should

walk in newness of life. 5 For

if we have been planted together

in the likeness of his death, we

shall be also in the likeness of

his resurrection: 6 Knowing

this, that our old man is cruci-

fied with him, that the body of

sin might be destroyed, that

henceforth we should not serve

sin.” “Rom 8:5 For they that

are after the flesh do mind the

things of the flesh; but they that

are after the Spirit the things of

the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally

minded is death; but to be spiri-

tually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is

enmity against God: for it is

not subject to the law of God,

neither indeed can be. 8 So then

they that are in the flesh cannot

please God. 9 But ye are not in

the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so

be that the Spirit of God dwell

in you. ow if any man have

not the Spirit of Christ, he is

none of his.” “2 Cor 5:16

Wherefore henceforth know we

no man after the flesh: yea,

though we have known Christ

after the flesh, yet now hence-

forth know we him no more. 17

Therefore if any man be in

Christ, he is a new creature:

old things are passed away;

behold, all things are become

new.” “Eph 4:10 He that

descended is the same also that

ascended up far above all heav-

ens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles;

and some, prophets; and some,

evangelists; and some, pastors

and teachers; 12 For the per-

fecting of the saints, for the

work of the ministry, for the

edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity

of the faith, and of the knowl-

edge of the Son of God, unto a

perfect man, unto the measure of

the stature of the fulness of

Christ: 14 That we henceforth

be no more children, tossed to

and fro, and carried about with

every wind of doctrine, by the

sleight of men, and cunning

craftiness, whereby they lie in

wait to deceive; 15 But speak-

ing the truth in love, may grow

up into him in all things, which

is the head, even Christ: 16

From whom the whole body

fitly joined together and com-

pacted by that which every joint

supplieth, according to the effec-

tual working in the measure of

every part, maketh increase of

the body unto the edifying of

itself in love. 17 This I say

therefore, and testify in the

Lord, that ye henceforth walk

not as other Gentiles walk, in

the vanity of their mind, 18

Having the understanding dark-

ened, being alienated from the

life of God through the igno-

rance that is in them, because of

the blindness of their heart: 19

Who being past feeling have

given themselves over unto las-

civiousness, to work all unclean-

ness with greediness. 20 But ye

have not so learned Christ; 21

If so be that ye have heard him,

and have been taught by him, as

the truth is in Jesus: 22 That

ye put off concerning the former

conversation the old man,

which is corrupt according to the

deceitful (1)lusts; 23 And be

renewed in the spirit of your

mind; 24 And that ye put on

the new man, which after God

is created in righteousness and

true holiness.” “Col 3:1 If ye

then be risen with Christ, seek

those things which are above,

where Christ sitteth on the

right hand of God. 2 (2)Set

your affection on things above,

not on things on the earth. 3

For ye are dead, and your life is

hid with Christ in God. 4 When

Christ, who is our life, shall

appear, then shall ye also appear

with him in glory. 5 (3)Mortify

therefore your members which

are upon the earth; fornication,

uncleanness, inordinate affec-

tion, evil concupiscence, and

covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things’ sake the

wrath of God cometh on the

children of disobedience: 7 In

the which ye also walked some

time, when ye lived in them. 8

But now ye also put off all

these; anger, wrath, malice, blas-

phemy, filthy communication

out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one

to another, seeing that ye have

put off the old man with his

deeds; 10 And have put on the

new man, which is renewed in

knowledge after the image of

him that created him: 11 Where

there is neither Greek nor Jew,

circumcision nor uncircumci-

sion, Barbarian, Scythian, bond

nor free: but Christ is all, and in

all.” (KJV)

Definitions:(1)deceitful lusts-

1939 epithumia (ep-ee-thoo-

mee’-ah); from 1937; a longing,

craving (especially for what is

forbidden): KJV— concupis-

cence, desire, lust (after).

(2)Set your affection on things

above, NOT on things on the

earth -5426 phroneo (fron-eh’-

o); from 5424; to exercise the

mind, i.e. entertain or have a

sentiment or opinion; by impli-

cation, to be (mentally) dis-

posed, to interest oneself in

(with concern or obedience), to

feel, to think c) to be of the

same mind, that is, agreed

together, to cherish the same

views, to be harmonious 3) to

direct one’s mind to a thing, to

seek, to strive for: KJV— set the

affection on, (be like-, + be of

one, + be of the same, mind (-

ed), regard, savour, think.

(3)Mortify therefore your mem-

bers which are upon the earth-

3499 nekroo (nek-ro’-o); from

3498; to deaden, i.e. (figurative-

ly) to subdue, 1) to make dead,

to put to death, to slay 3) to

deprive of power, to destroy the

strength of: KJV— be dead,

mortify.

When one professes to belong to

Christ (Christian), and chooses

NOT to be doers of the Word

and work, (James 1:21-25) but

chooses to be spotted with the

world (James1:27) and chooses

to love the world and the things

that are in it, this makes one not

of the Father (1John2:15-17).

According to scripture, this also

makes one an adulterer or an

adulteress, choosing to be a

friend of this world (James4:4-

10). Again, according to scrip-

ture, one that chooses to love

their life in this world, shall lose

their life (eternally) John12:23-

26. Remember, if one, because

of his/her own BELLY, chooses

to mind earthly things, including

the traditions of men, according

to scripture this makes one the

enemy of the Cross of Christ

(Phil.3:16-20)! This then

according to SCRIPTURE,

makes one a DENIER of Christ

and the Father rather than a

DENIER of oneself (Luke 9:22-

26). This also makes one an

ATICHRIST 1John2:22-23!

James 1:26 If any man among

you seem to be religious, and

bridleth not his tongue, but

deceiveth his own heart, this

man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure

religion and undefiled before

God and the Father is this, To

visit the fatherless and widows

in their affliction, and to keep

himself (1)unspotted from the

world. (KJV)

Definitions: (1) keep himself

unspotted 784 aspilos (as’-pee-

los); from 1 (as a negative parti-

cle) and 4695; unblemished

(physically or morally) 1) spot-

less 2) metaphorically, a) free

from censure, irreproachable b)

free from vice, unsullied: KJV—

without spot, unspotted.

(2)from the world 2889 kosmos

(kos’-mos); 6) the ungodly mul-

titude; the whole mass of men

alienated from God, and there-

fore hostile to the cause of

Christ 7) world affairs, the

aggregate of things earthly the

whole circle of earthly goods,

endowments riches, advantages,

pleasures, etc., which although

hollow and frail and fleeting, stir

desire, seduce from God and are

obstacles to the cause of Christ:

KJV— adorning, world.

I Jn 2:15 Love not the world,

neither the things that are in the

world. If any man love the

world, the love of the Father is

not in him. 16 For all that is in

the world, the lust of the flesh,

and the lust of the eyes, and the

pride of life, is not of the Father,

but is of the world. 17 And the

world passeth away, and the lust

thereof: but he that doeth the

will of God abideth for ever. 18

Little children, it is the last time:

and as ye have heard that

antichrist shall come, even now

are there many antichrists;

whereby we know that it is the

last time. 19 They went out

from us, but they were not of

us; for if they had been of us,

they would no doubt have con-

tinued with us: but they went

out, that they might be made

manifest that they were not all

of us. 20 But ye have an unction

from the Holy One, and ye know

all things. 21 I have not written

unto you because ye know not

the truth, but because ye know

it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a (1)liar but he that

denieth that Jesus is the Christ?

He is (2)antichrist, that (3)deni-

eth the Father and the Son. 23

Whosoever denieth the Son, the

same hath not the Father: (but)

he that (4)acknowledgeth the

Son hath the Father also. 24 Let

that therefore abide in you,

which ye have heard from the

beginning. If that which ye have

heard from the beginning shall

remain in you, ye also shall con-

tinue in the Son, and in the

Father. 25 And this is the prom-

ise that he hath promised us,

even eternal life. 26 These

things have I written unto you

concerning them that seduce

you.(KJV)

Definitions:(1)Who is a liar-

from 5574; a falsifier, liar 2) one

who breaks faith: KJV— liar.

(2)He is antichrist-500

antichristos (an-tee’-khris-tos);

from 473 and 5547; an opponent

of the Messiah, the adversary of

the Messiah: KJV— antichrist.

473 anti (an-tee’); a primary

particle; opposite, i.e. instead or

because of : KJV— for, in the

room of. Often used in composi-

tion to denote contrast, requital,

substitution, etc. (3)that deni-

eth the Father and the Son-720

arneomai (ar-neh’-om-ahee);

perhaps from 1 (as a negative

particle) and the middle voice of

4483; to contradict, i.e. disavow,

reject, 2) to deny someone, 4)

not to accept, to reject, to refuse

something offered, abnegate:

KJV— deny, refuse.(see reject

and belief John12:44-50;

John17:17-24). (4)he that

acknowledgeth the Son hath the

Father also-3670 homologeo

(hom-ol-og-eh’-o); from a com-

pound of the base of 3674 and

3056; i.e. covenant, acknowl-

edge, 1) to say the same thing as

another, that is, to agree with, to

assent 2) to concede a) not to

refuse b) not to deny: KJV—

con- (pro-) fess, confession is

made, give thanks, promise.

We believe that there are some

that perceive, understand and

even believe these truths; but

because of different reasons, do

not choose to accept them. We

believe that weakness maybe

one reason. We also believe that

such ones might ask these ques-

tions: “How can I tell my wife,

husband, children, or friends?”

“How can I tell my father, moth-

er, or kindred, that these are

truths?” The question should be:

“How can a Christian, i.e. fol-

lower of Christ, not tell the truth

to all (the truth being the

WORD)”, (John17:16-17)?

Followers of Christ through his

apostles MUST tell the TRUTH

at all times, for no lie is of the

truth, and there is no lie in

Christ (James 3:14; 1John 1:5-

10 & 2:21-29). Christians must

be strong in the faith, not in a

faith, and have been instructed

to quit like men. “1 Cor 16:13

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith,

(1)quit you like men, be

strong.” Warning, for being

timid, “fearful”; causes damna-

tion. “Rev 21:8 But the (1)fear-

ful, and unbelieving, and the

abominable, and murderers, and

whoremongers, and sorcerers,

and idolaters, and all liars, shall

have their part in the lake which

burneth with fire and brimstone:

which is the second death.”

Definitions: (1)quit you like

men-407 andrizomai (an-drid’-

zom-ahee);middle voice from

435; to act manly, 2) to show

oneself a man, be brave: KJV—

quit like men. (1)fearful 1169

deilos-timid, fearful

We believe that pride may be

another reason for the refusal of

the truth, in that we don’t like

admitting that we have been

wrong. Jesus said that pride,

among other things is evil, and

defileth the man. Listen: Mark

7:20-23; Mark 9:43-48. This is

true because first of all and most

of all Jesus said it. Secondly,

when it hinders one from saving

his own soul and the souls of

others, by not admitting the truth

by the word, can anything be

more evil? Remember, among

other things the WORD is prof-

itable for correction: 2 Tim

3:16 All scripture is given by

inspiration of God, and is prof-

itable for doctrine, for reproof,

for correction, for instruction in

righteousness: 17 That the man

of God may be perfect, through-

ly furnished unto all good

works. We must not be too

proud to accept the WORD;

after all it is Christ John1:1-18,

and it is what will judge us in

the last day John12:46-50. We

must change our minds and then

our ways if we want to be

SAVED, “Repent” (Mark 9:43-

48; Rom. 12:1-2; 2Pet.3:8-18).

Jesus tells us by scriptures of

the few that chooses not to fol-

low man, but will find and

accept the Word; and the many

that will not accept it (please lis-

ten Matt.7:13-29 and 22:14).

The apostle Paul even speaks of

those that follows not the Word,

because of being blinded by the

god of this world, “the Devil”;

please listen: “2 Cor 4:1

Therefore seeing we have this

ministry, as we have received

mercy, we faint not; 2 But have

renounced the hidden things of

dishonesty, not walking in crafti-

ness, nor handling the word of

God deceitfully; but by manifes-

tation of the truth commending

ourselves to every man’s con-

science in the sight of God. 3

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid

to them that are lost: 4 In whom

the god of this world hath

blinded the minds of them which

believe not, lest the light of the

glorious gospel of Christ, who is

the image of God, should shine

unto them. 5 For we preach not

ourselves, but Christ Jesus the

Lord; and ourselves your ser-

vants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God,

who commanded the light to

shine out of darkness, hath

shined in our hearts, to give the

light of the knowledge of the

glory of God in the face of Jesus

Christ.” (Hear also Luke 4:1-13;

1John5:19-21; Rev.12:9 and

13:6-9)

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come

that judgment must begin at the

house of God: and if it first

begin at us, what shall the end

be of them that obey not the

gospel of God? 18 And if the

(1)righteous (2)scarcely be

saved, where shall the ungodly

and the sinner appear? 19

Wherefore let them that suffer

according to the will of God

commit the keeping of their

souls to him in well doing, as

unto a faithful Creator.

Definitions: (1)righteous-1342

dikaios-righteous, observing

divine laws. (2)scarcely be

saved -3433 molis (mol’-is);

probably by var. for 3425; with

difficulty, 2) not easily, very

rarely: KJV— hardly, scarce (-

ly), + with much work.

Dear reader again, the purpose

of these articles is to seek the

TRUTH according to THE

WORD, thereby exposing

ERROR, for the purpose of sav-

ing our souls. We believe this is

best done by definitions and the

preponderance of scriptures;

which is having superior weight,

force, importance, or influence

of scripture. Again we believe

this allows SCRIPTURE to

INTERPRET SCRIPTURE,

thereby allowing a better under-

standing on that topic. Again,

thank you so much for your

interest in the WORD of

TRUTH; GRACE and Salvation;

John 17:17-21; Acts 20:29-32;

James1:21-25. After all it is our

PRECIOUS is Time. Therefore while you have

time, use it to learn and do Gods Commandments

for at the end of life is pay time and your pay will

be according as your work has been. You will find

in 2 Corinthians 5:10 the following: “For we must

all appear before the judgement seat of Christ,

that everyone may recive the things done in his

body according to that he hath done, whether it

be good or evil.” You will find in John 15:14. “Ye

are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command

you.” Solomon said in Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man

will hear and will increase learning, and a man of

understanding will attain unto wise counsel.”

Now that you are trying new

adventures and checking out

happy hours I'm sure you are

meeting all kinds of new people.

We all have expectations when

we meet new people, but they

should not be limited to:

boy + girl = dating

Step away from Facebook,

Twitter, and Skype. Get back to

the simple basics of meeting

people, maybe with a tasteful

compliment, or just a simple

hello. Get out and have a real

human contact experience, look

someone in their eyes, smell

their perfume.

Sometimes you meet people that

are just great listeners, or have

great information on something

you are interested in. Everyone

does not have to be your poten-

tial mate or BFF. Some people

are meant to be just seat fillers;

you enjoy them for that particu-

lar time. They bring something

to the table but are not meant to

STAY at the table.

If you don't spend your entire

evening wondering where this

relationship is going you will

take the pressure off and relax

and really allow yourself to have

a good time.

Enjoy love affairs and great

companionship!

Hang out with someone from a

different culture and explore the

differences in food and music.

Try a restaurant of a different

ethnicity, and allow your palate

and senses to you take you on a

journey. Learn different styles of

dancing and take your show on

the road to a local club that

caters to that style of dancing

and put those moves to use.

International and cultural festi-

vals are a great way to explore

other cultures, without leaving

your own city. Try learning a

new language and if you are not

up to learning an entire new lan-

guage, learn words that you can

build upon. It often surprises

people when you can greet them

in their native tongue.

It's great to remain in contact

with people you meet along the

way that live or move to other

cities, states and even countries.

It allows you to have friends in

all sorts of places when you

travel, or can even connect your

friends when they travel or

move to other locations.

Remember to reconnect not just

on places but people as well, and

always share freely with others

that can benefit from it.

Note-As we near the end of the

current football season, more

coaches than I can remember on

on the hot seat. This year may

be a record for coaches being

fired and replaced on all levels. I

read this column, looking for

something else and decided to

use it again. Football is such a

wierd game because no matter

how bad the players perform-

coaches always get the complete

blame for it!

Plain and simple, nothing makes

me happier than the end of July.

This means dear readers that

August begins another football

season and hopes and dreams of

success fill the hearts of fans all

across the fruited plains.

Everyone has a deep dream that

this is their season; the one that

they have waited for all their

lives. By the first of February,

January and December, pro, col-

lege and high school fans will

watch someone else celebrate

and the tears of disappointment

will occupy the faces of every-

one. Then the long, hard off sea-

son and the wait to August

begins. But our August is here

and happiness is seen on football

fans everywhere. Reading our

pre season magazines hoping to

give our dreams a doze of reality

is the talk at water coolers all

over the country. I was asked by

a fan of the newspaper what I

would do to make my team a

winner. I told him to read the

next edition of A KING SIZE

VIEW and I would provide the

answer. Now first let me say at

each level, the only way to have

a possible winner is to have out-

standing players, a great coach-

ing staff and a support staff that

all have one goal-winning! Now

I must add that even having

those things may increase your

chances of winning but it does-

n’t guarantee it. Great teams

have failed to win champi-

onships. So as stated at the top

of this column, here is the way I

see it.

A quarterback must be in place-

Unlike athletes in key positions

in other sports, a quarterback is

essential to the success/failure of

a team. He is the team leader, a

person everyone counts on when

the game is on the line and a big

play is needed to win. The coach

counts on him to keep everyone

focused on the job at hand and

his leadership is the main key

towards winning.

A defensive leader: middle line-

backer-Simply put this is the

physical leader of the team. He

takes a lot of punishment but

gives even more. He is always

hurt, but he never leaves the

field. He yells at the defense and

offense players. He is a coach on

the field, in the sideline and in

the locker room. A middle line-

backer asks for no sympathy and

he gives none.

A receiver that makes big/small

plays-A great receiver has two

simple roles; make the big catch

every game and yet make the

simple catch that doesn’t make a

lot of conversations but when

you look at the film those catch-

es paid dividends that help seal

the win. He must make key

blocks to help secure first downs

and he must bail out his quarter-

back when the pass rush is about

to wreck havoc on the offense.

A defensive end that seeks and

destroys the quarterback-A great

defensive end has only one role;

rush the pocket and sack the

quarterback. He must attack,

attack, attack all the time. He

must be relentless and simply

put a very mean man. He may

be pound for pound the best

conditioned athlete on the team.

A kicker with no nerves-Watch

the loneliest player on the team

as he sits and waits until his

name is called. He practices with

the holder by himself. He must

be relaxed ready to contribute

when asked. The weather condi-

tions could be sunny, rainy, and

cold with snow and or biting

with gusty wind. Sometimes the

kicker must kick with the game

on the line. He must produce

when he is called. The clock is

about to strike zero. The kick is

in the air……..

A head coach that pushes the

right buttons-A head coach must

be leader, teacher, parent and

enforcer along with other roles

all into one. He doesn’t sleep for

several months at a time, must

be careful regarding is diet and

be very careful with his health.

He must trust his assistant

coaches to develop a top game

plan implement it and be pre-

pared to make changes when

everything is going wrong. He

must be able to go with his

hunches when everyone warns

him it won’t work. He must

know which players to trust and

replace –players that aren’t pro-

ducing. He must face the public

and accept the criticisms for fail-

ures and be humble after wins.

He must have that fire in his

belly to wake up the nest day,

ready to compete.

Trust me there be more to add to

this list. As I stated earlier, noth-

ing is guaranteed for success but

if none of the listed items are

present and this one is not there,

the desire to win, then it won’t

and I repeat won’t happen. Give

me a team that all want to win

and work hard at everything

they do, they’ll win. Maybe not

on the field, but in life itself. I’ll

take life winners every time.

That’s just the way I see it!

Humble, Texas-It was only five

of them on this cool brisk night

but the North Forest

Cheerleaders had themselves a

ball as their team won for the

11th in as many games.

Diamond Holmes the charming

and talented daughter of Denise

and Willie Holmes is a junior

co-captain on the squad and cer-

tainly likes her job. “Oh sir you

can’t believe how much I love

cheering for our team and for

our team to be undefeated and

all our stands are filled with fans

you couldn’t ask for anything

better”.

In the classroom Holmes is a

straight A student and likes

English best because she says

she loves to write as well as l

read poems. “English has

always been interesting to me

ever since I was little; it’s been

my favorite and I’m always

done well in my English class-

es”.

With a desire to go into the med-

ical profession Holmes made it

clear she wants to become a

Pediatrician and simply has a

love for young children. “I

guess it’s because I have some

little nieces and nephews and I

love caring for them”. She also

made it clear she wants to attend

the Prairie View A & M

University School of Medicine

to get started on her profession.

In addition to cheering Diamond

says she had a very special feel-

ing for hair care and thinks hav-

ing a beauty shop could be a

good line of work. “Again I feel

working with hair care is a great

past time for me and it’s defi-

nitely in my future also”.

On Sundays you’ll find the

Holmes family over at Greater

New Caney Missionary Baptist

Church where Diamond praise

dances as well as sings in the

choir.

When asked if she could do any-

thing over in life she said per-

haps the fifth grade. “I truly

believe I could have been more

focused in that grade and

applied myself more”.

On the subject of the 2012

Presidential Election Homes

says she feels President Barack

Obama deserved another term so

he can continue to get the econ-

omy right. “I truly believe dur-

ing his second term the

President will continue to get

our country back on track and

improve our economy”.

Crediting her father (Willie

Holmes) with being her most

driving force in life, Diamond

said he has simply always pro-

vided her with the tools to be

successful. “Everything I’ve

needed in school he has provid-

ed for me and he has always

pushed me to be my best at all

times; he even made sure I did

my homework”.

Describing herself as a very hard

working and respectful young

lady who can get along with

anyone, Diamond is the kind of

person that makes doing this

Fiesta Student of the Week so

wonderful.

In closing we want to commend

Denise and Willie Holmes on

doing a wonderful job with their

daughter. In little or no time

when your child becomes ill you

will be able to take them to Dr.

Diamond Holmes and get them

well again!

Humble, Texas-As the old say-

ing goes a good quarterback

goes a long ways in having a

good offense. That’s certainly

the case for the North Forest

Bulldogs as they whipped Fort

Bend Ridge Point 41-23 at

Turner Stadium in Humble. Yes

senior quarterback Darrell Julian

kept the Panthers defense off

guard all night long. Rushing

for game high 131 yards and hit-

ting on four of five passes for 44

more yards Julian took care of

business. “You know sir at any

level of football the quarterback

has to be the leader on offense

and at the half I talked with our

team and told them to keep their

heads up and keep working hard

because we had another half to

go”. Julian reminded his team-

mates they must keep going to

the weight room and make sure

they stay focused and keep win-

ning football teams. “We can go

to state because all during the

summer we were in the weight

room at 5 o’clock and that went

for everybody”.

Working under Coach Atkins

and his staff has been a pleasure

for Julian and his teammates.

“We respect all our coaches and

especially Coach Atkins because

he makes sure we hit the

weights and you saw our center

played well as did the rest of the

offensive line”. The talented

quarterback who has some very

good runs in the game and the

only incomplete pass he had was

dropped in the end zone for

what would have been a 40 yard

touchdown. “We had a 100%

effort tonight and that’s what it

going to take for us to go to

state”.

Julian credited Ridge Point and

De Marcus Johnson for playing

a great game but the Bulldogs

kept working hard and got the

win. “They have a good back

and they played us hard but in

the end we got the better hand

on them”.

Leadership is the key to the suc-

cess of any football team and

after watching Julian for the sev-

eral times I’m convinced he has

what it takes to take his team

places.

DARRELL JULIAN-NORTH FOREST

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Humble, Texas-Continuing to be

the new kid on the block, the

Bulldogs of North Forest High

School are snapping their way

through the first 11 games.

Beating teams by the 50s going

into the playoffs, they faced a

stubborn Ridge Point High

School group of Panthers who

hang around. But in the end the

Bulldogs wore them down and

got a 41-23 win just in time for

Thanksgiving and earned a berth

in the area round of action.

Thanks mainly to the line play

of David Vasquez and the rest of

offensive front they got the job

done. Anthony Jones scored

three times in the early going

and the Panthers simply could

not catch up. But Vasquez

explained how the Bulldogs

have been so successful this

year. “I tell your sir, it’s hard

work and dedication; that's what

makes this team tick and the

offensive line must work hard

on the weights so we can move

people out the way so our backs

can get yards”. The talented

senior went on to say they cer-

tainly must protect their quarter-

back in order for the offense to

jell. “We’ve got to keep Darrell

(Julian) free to do his thing and

that’s the offensive lines job

first of all”.

As we talked more with

Vasquez we learned he also

feels the coaching staff is anoth-

er key to success for North

Forest.

In closing he added the team has

some real good workouts for the

offensive line and playing the

game is easy after what they go

through in workouts in prepara-

tion.

Humble, Texas-When the game

was on the line the high pow-

ered North Forest Bulldogs

defense came up with the big

plays. One of which was line-

backer De Marcus Spurlock’s

recovery of a blocked punt for a

score to basically put the game

out of reach at 34-17. Then

teammate Tyrus Jones returned

an interception for another score

to make it 41-17 and even

though the Panthers would add

another score at the end for a

41-23 final, the game was basi-

cally over after Spurlock’s score.

We spoke with linebacker De

Marcus Spurlock about his big

play. “We just executed and the

ball came free and I grabbed it

for the score”. The solid line-

backer was all over the field and

the Bulldogs like to swarm to

the football and have a number

of guys on this squad who will

simply hit you. “Our coaches

did a great job of scouting Ridge

Point and we knew what they

wanted to do and stopped them

from doing it”.

As we continued talking with

Spurlock we asked him how the

team handled all the adversity

about the school district. “We

used that as motivation as well

and it actually helped us to

focus on getting ready for the

season”. It was a great answer

to a serious question and it

showed just how focused this

team is and it could help them

not just in the playoffs but the

rest of their lives. “I think we

are just that good because we

worked hard for it and we knew

we had to continue to be a fami-

ly on this team”.

Beating Wheatley 81-14 in the

season finale the Bulldogs were

snapping at the bits to get into

the playoffs and it showed. “We

just wanted people to know

North Forest is for real and

we’ve been working very hard

for this day and I’m proud to be

part of this team”.
