This play is based on DILLI KA YAADGAR MUSHAIRA by FARHATULLAH BAIG. The Mushaira which forms the basis of this heart warming play was the last of its kind in the Mughal Court.

An unremarkable Rajkumar from a nondescript village has been requested to write a poem for a compilation to be published. If you knew Rajkumar you'd realize the absurdity of the request…

Tunni is a mischievous little girl, smart and clever. This story is about her adventures in the land of colours. Its dreamy, magical, musical & colourful.

Each piece is interjected with a scene in the bar. All the pieces originate here either from a customer, bartender or an incident sparking of the next story. The pieces are “Do Deewaney iss sheher mein”, “lash-ting Impression”, “Daddu Tiwari” And “Ghar ghar”

A story about a trader from Kabul who comes to Hindustan to earn some money. Here he meets a little girl Mini who reminds him of his daughter in Kabul.

A CITY SPEAKS: 150 YEARS OF GOVIND NARAYAN’S MUMBAIMurali Ranganathan & Naresh Fernandes in conversationPEN presents readings from Govind Narayan’s Mumbai, a translation of the first biography of Mumbai, first published in 1863, and a discussion of the original work, the translation, and their multiple social, cultural and political contexts. The title of the Marathi original is Mumbaiche Varnan. Murali Ranganathan’s translation is the first English version of this classic: available from Anthem Press, it also contains a biography of the Govind Narayan and extensive notes on 19th-century Mumbai public figures and institutions.

Murali Ranganathan will be in conversation with Naresh Fernandes, author of Taj Mahal Foxtrot: The Story of Bombay’s Jazz Age, former editor of Time Out Mumbai, and member of the PEN All-India Centre executive committee. Thespo@Prithvi

Somewhat surprisingly, a physics approach has proved successful in answering questions like How do traffic jams form? Can stampedes in crowds be curbed? Interestingly, the unpredictability of human behavior is essential to understand what happens, as is the way humans interact with each other.

About the speaker Prof. Mustansir Barma, the Director of TIFR, is a renowned Statistical Physicist, with a keen interest in Disordered Systems. He was awarded the Padmashri in 2013.

BHRAIMOMAN THEATRE - WHERE OTHELLO SAILS WITH TITANICDirected by Bidyut Kotoky (55 mins)

Where Othello Sails with Titanic’ directed by Bidyut Kotoky follows Assam’s mobile theatre groups as they hop from village to village between September and April every year. The groups set up makeshift auditoriums at each stop and perform plays on every possible subject, from Princess Diana being chased by paparazzi to 9/11.

TANKO BOLE CHHE (THE STITCHES SPEAK)by Nina Sabnani (12 mins)

This animated documentary celebrates the art and passion of Kutch artisans. Through the narrative art of appliqué and embroideries, the artisans articulate their responses to life and events as traumatic as the earthquake and as joyful as flying a kite.

Both the film-makers will be present for a Q&A session.
