We needCharter to immediately come to the table and negotiate ingood faith with these workers who take great pride in theirjobs and deserve the benefits they’ve worked so hard toearn. FALL SEASON FIRST

by Peter Ross

As the change of seasons and thestart of school for our community’syouth has begun, so to has the Fallseason’s iterations of the First Fri-days Community Social MixerEvents, organized by the KiwanisClub of Sunnyside, for the benefit ofour local food pantries. On Friday,September 1, 2017, the backyard ofIda’s Nearabout, on Queens Boule-vard between 43rd and 44th Streets, became the place to be as a little lessthan two dozen Kiwanians and com-munity members enjoyed a night outof socialization for this good cause. With beautiful weather still in evi-dence, all enjoyed their favorite adult(or not so adult) beverage, and con-versed with old and newly madefriends, while not forgetting the main

reason they were all there, to helptheir neighbors in need. A specialcertificate was presented to Ida’s co-owner Paul Longo who celebratedhis neighbor’s efforts with a cham-pagne toast. Of course fun was hadby all. Continuing this tradition, theOctober event will be held at noneother than the biweekly meeting placeof the Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside, the newly remodeled Sidetracks Res-taurant, located at 45-08 Queens Bou-levard. It is hoped that all who canstop will stop by Sidetracks on Octo-ber 6th between 7 and 10 PM forgood friends, good food, a quick thirstquencher and charitable service. Asalways, visitwww.sunnysidefirstfirdays.org formore information. Looking forwardto seeing YOU there!
