    Judy Davies, a 3rd grade teacher at Pine Forest Elementary, has been chosen as a participant in the National Board Certifi-cation Cohort.

    Greentree teacher Natalie Wilkes’ 3rd grade class conducted their own service project, collecting over 1500 food items for H.A.A.M. The Kingwood Observer sent a photographer for a photo of the class with all of the food they collected.

    Riverwood Middle Science Olympiad students, led by teacher Joe Watson, did very well at the Science Olym-piad National Tournament. This competition featured the top 60 schools from almost every State and Territory out of an original field of over 2500 Middle/Junior High Schools from across the nation. This very young team (by SO standards) produced consistently great performances up and down the event schedule, earning 32nd Place overall. That’s 32nd out of 2500+ schools. Nice work, RMS.

    Atascocita High School White House 1 secretary Darlene Thompson announces her May 15 graduation from Houston Community College.

    Pine Forest 5th grade teacher Belinda Borgers com-pleted the Houston Marathon in four hours and seventeen minutes. It was her seventh marathon.

    PFE 3rd grade teacher Becky Norris completed the Princess Half Marathon at Disneyland.

    Greentree teacher Cheryl VanRysdam entered a watercolor done by 5th grader Emily Mitchell in the Texas Elementary Art Meet, (TEAM) contest and she received a first place award and gold medal.

    TEAM is in its second year in the Houston area and is sponsored by the Texas Art Education Association. The program is patterned after UIL events and artwork is evaluated on a standard that is reflective of the Visual Arts TEKS.

    Park Lakes math lab teach-er Leslie Drewett announces the April 29 birth of her son Luke Mason. He weighed 8 lbs., 15 oz. and was 20.5 inches long.

    Pine Forest music teacher Heather Daugherty an-nounces the April 7 birth of her daughter, Lauren Diane Daugherty. She weighed 7 lbs, 15 oz. and was 20 inches long.

    Willow Creek Assistant Prin-cipal Holly Stevens and Hidden Hollow LSSP Brandon Stevens announce the May 10 birth of their son, Finn Grayson Stevens. He weighed 10 lbs., 2 oz. and was 21 inches long.

    AHS math teacher Christine Stoltz announces the March 13 birth of her daughter, Maggie Jean. She weighed 8 lbs., 8 oz. and was 21 inches long.

    PFE Librarian Brooke King announces the May 23 birth of her son, Nathaniel. He weighed 8 lbs, 7 oz.

    Elm Grove 4th grade teacher Valerie Sammon and also PEIMS coordinator Charlotte Thomas announce the Feb. 3 birth of their granddaughter, Lila Mae Harriman. Mom Jessica Sammon Harriman is a 2000 KHS graduate.

  • Bright IdeasPFE Faculty/Staff, Students,

    and Parents participated in a Spring Creek Spirit Night to raise funds for technology. Spring Creek donated 25% of sales that evening to PFE, raising a

    total of $1,733.20! PFE will use this money to purchase technology-

    driven educational materials/ devicesfor classrooms. The four classes with higest participation earned prizes. Jeanne Rudd in 1st grade, Kara Boening in 2nd grade, Kelly Cahill in Kindergarten, and Gabriela Martin in 3rd grade won the "Home Room Contest" for having the highest at-tendance. All volunteers were treated to dinner, a Spring Creek apron, and a $25 gift card.

    Seize the moment....Administration building em-ployees found ways to enjoy a fire alarm this week. Anita Youngblood, Debra Rangel and Keri Fovarque are thank-ful that soccer moms keep camp chairs in their trunks.

    Cook announces her May 8 marriage to Jesse Salinas. The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and are now re-siding in Tomball.

    Pine Forest Elementary special ed. para-educator Kristen Uttenweiler announces her engagement to Jon Eak-man. A March 12 wedding is planned.

    AVID is searching for outstanding tutors for the 2010-2011 school year! Humble ISD employee’s children make the BEST AVID tutors ever!! If your college student is looking for a GREAT job, please have them consider be-coming an AVID tutor. We are looking for successful local college students who are mature, reliable and excellent role models; education majors are especially desirable. Appli-cants must be strong in the areas of math, science and Eng-lish; Pre-AP and AP course experience is recommended, but not mandatory.

    The Houston Symphony Orches-tra is coming to Kingwood Park High School! This summer the Houston Symphony continues its annual “Sounds Like Fun!” series. These free concerts are a relaxed and dynamic experience designed for the whole family, Wednes-day, June 9, 7:30 p.m. at KPHS Per-forming Arts Center.     Symphony at KPHSBenefit Basketball Game

    Students from CMS and RMS raised more than $2,000 last night in the Benefit Basketball Game. As part of a service learning project which supports organizations that provide services to children with autism, students, teachers and administrators from Creekwood and Riverwood middle schools took on a team made up of School Board Trustees, Dr. Sconzo and students. This project was student-driven, with the subject of autism chosen by the students. Pro-ceeds will go to CMS and RMS special services, The Vil-lage Learning Center and Including Kids.
