STEP UP AND HELP YOUR ORGANIZATION
The Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter is seeking chairmen for two important commit-
tees.
The Outstanding Citizenship Committee works with all the public and private high
schools (14 in total) in Frederick County to recognize an outstanding senior from each
graduating class. Committee activity occurs between March and June. Duties include
sending a form letter to the schools, collecting the responses and presenting the Outstand-
ing Citizenship Awards at the schools year-end awards ceremonies. Many members of the
chapter assist in presenting the awards so the committee chairman does not do them all.
The chapter secretary can assist with preparing the presentation certificates.
The Public Safety Committee works with all Frederick County law enforcement depart-
ments, as well as fire departments and EMS, to identify deserving individuals for three
SAR Awards: The Law Enforcement Commendation Medal, the Fire Safety Commenda-
tion Medal and the Emergency Medical Services Medal. Committee activity includes re-
questing nominations from each department, reviewing the nominations to select the
award winners and passing that information to the Awards Committee chairman. Com-
mittee activity occurs between June and September. The Awards Committee chairman
will procure the proper medals and certificates. Awards are presented at the chapter’s
semi-annual meeting in October.
If you are interested in assuming the chairmanship of either committee please contact
chapter secretary Pat Barron at [email protected].
