Cover Car _________________________Sharon......I saw your request for pics and stories. Got a couple for you.

1) About 8 years ago I purchased a ‘54 Bel Air two door sedan and a ‘53 210 two door sedan from Wichita, Kansas that had been sitting since 1972. They were both complete, unmolested cars, but the Kansas sun was tough on the exterior paint and interior components. They both had the distributors installed incorrectly and that was the reason they did not run. I got the engines running, redone the entire brake systems, installed new gas tanks and installed rally rims with new tires. They were road worthy, but would require new interiors

and exterior paint if you are not a “patina” fan. I decided to sell both of the cars and look for ‘54 and ‘53 Bel Air two doors that did not require so much work.

About a year ago I purchased a 1954 Bel Air two door hardtop from southern Minnesota (see attached pics). It had been a grandson/grandfather project that involved replacing the frame, putting the body on a rotisserie and replacing the floor panels. The engine was a 235 that was bored out .060 and overhauled. It has Williams headers for dual exhaust and a Fenton intake manifold for dual carburetors, solid lifters and dual master cylinder

______________________Cover Carfor the brakes. It has been converted to 12 volts and the entire front end had been rebuilt. It has a lot of NCAA parts on it. It has wide white Coker tires with the original ‘54 full hubcaps. It has the original 3 speed manual transmission. The only thing that needed immediate attention was the exhaust pipe gaskets and welding the mufflers and tailpipes to eliminate exhaust leaks. I also had to redo how/where the front and rear seats were mounted. It still needs a lot of detailing, but is much better than the ‘54 Bel Air two door sedan I sold.

2) Six months ago I purchased a ‘53 Bel Air two door sedan from Ohio that is all original with

54,000 miles (see attached pic) It has the original 235 with the Powerglide transmission and everything under the hood is original, still 6 volt system. The interior is all original except for floor carpet and I had the driver’s seat back repaired with original fabric from SMS Auto Fabrics in Oregon. The transmission and cylinder head had been rebuilt shortly before my purchase. I put a new set of Coker wide whites on it and plan to install dual exhaust on it some time this winter. It cruises down the road pretty good for it’s age.
