Call Control eXtensible Markup Language

1 Whereas VoiceXML is designed to provide a Voice User Interface to a

voice browser, CCXML is designed to inform the voice browser how to

handle the telephony control of the voice channel

Speech recognition

1 Speech recognition applications include voice user interfaces such as voice dialling (e.g.

"Call home"), call routing (e.g. "I would like to make a collect call"), domotic appliance

control, search (e.g. find a podcast where particular words were spoken), simple data entry (e.g., entering a Creditcard number), preparation of structured documents (e.g. a radiology report), speech-to-text processing

(e.g., word processors or emails), and aircraft (usually termed Direct Voice Input).

User interface - Types

1 Voice user interfaces, which accept input and provide output by

generating voice prompts. The user input is made by pressing keys or buttons, or responding verbally to

the interface.

Voice Messaging - Voicemail features

1 Simple voicemail systems function as a remote answering machine using touch-tones as the

user interface. More complicated systems may use other input devices such as Voice user

interface|voice or a Graphical user interface|computer interface. Simpler voice-mail systems may play the audio message through the phone,

while more advanced systems may have alternative delivery methods, including email or

text message delivery, message transfer and forwarding options, and multiple mailboxes.

Operating system user interface - Design

1 Most operating system shells fall into one of two categories: command-line and

graphical. Command line shells provide a command-line interface(CLI) to the

operating system, while graphical shells provide a graphical user interface(GUI).

Other possibilities, although not so common, include voice user interface|voice UI and various implementations of a text-

based user interface(TUI) which are not CLI.

Voice browser

1 A 'voice browser' is a software application that presents an interactive voice user

interface to the user in a manner analogous to the functioning of a web browser interpreting Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Dialog documents interpreted by voice browser are often encoded in standards-based markup languages, such as VoiceXML|Voice Dialog Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML), a

standard by the World Wide Web Consortium.

Usability engineering

1 The largest subsets of Usability Engineers work to improve usability of software graphical user interfaces (GUIs), web-based user interfaces, and Voice User Interface|voice user

interfaces (VUIs).

Human-computer interface - Introduction

1 Voice user interfaces (VUI) are used for speech recognition and

synthesising systems, and the emerging multi-modal and gestalt

User Interfaces (gUI) allow humans to engage with embodied character agents in a way that cannot be achieved with other interface

paradigms.

workflow, online tracking, reporting capabilities, electronic invoice user interfaces, supplier

networks, payment services and spend analytics for all invoices.Aberdeen Group: Scott Pezza, W.
