Welcome to Public Services at Runshaw College. We prepare our students to work in vocations including the Police, the Fire Service, and the Armed Forces to name three. There are three levels of study (BTEC Level 1, 2 and 3) all of which are designed for those looking to work with the public in a variety of capacities.

At Levels 1 and 2, students receive an introduction to Public Services, and must show an interest in the work of the Public Services over a one-year course. These are ideal for creating a base to progress to employment or on to further study at Level 3 National Diploma, which is a two year course. Level 3 is designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter a career within the uniformed Public Services. The careers include: the Police including PCSO’s, Fire Service, Army, Royal Navy, RAF, Royal Marines Commandos, Prison Service, Ambulance Service and HM Customs and Excise. We also equip you to progress on to a wide range of university courses.

Enrichment is an important part of studying at Runshaw, and with Public Services we offer trips and guest speakers. In terms of trips domestically, we visit the services as well as inviting them in to college as guest speakers. To complement local trips, we also go further afield taking in London and even New York!
