Some Useful Terms The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of a country is defined as the
market value of all final goods and services produced within a country in a given period of time (usually a year)
Revenue (turnover) is an amount of money that a company receives from its activities in a given period (usually a year), mostly from sales of products and/or services to customers
Profit is defined as the residual value gained from business operations in a given period (usually a year)
The Fortune Global 500 is a ranking of the top 500 corporations as measured by revenue. The list is compiled and published annually by Fortune magazine. It differs from the Fortune 500 in that the latter only lists the top US corporations.
