Vitamin E is found in plants and animals. The best sources are cold-pressed vegetable oils and in raw form, as in salad dressings and sauces rather than cooking which destroys its properties. The primary function of Vitamin E is an antioxidant. It reduces oxidation and prevents breakdown of other nutrients by oxygen, which protects the entire body from free radical damage. It helps stabilize cell membranes and protect the tissues of the skin, eyes, liver, breasts and testes, which are more sensitive to oxidation.
