I trust you enjoy the scheduling of these different times of fellowship during the summer months for those “summer-faithful” who remain in Tucson. Let me encourage those who are traveling this summer to stay current with our summer series in the book of Jeremiah. You can, of course, do so via the church website. But, if you are a tablet or a smart-phone user, it is even easier to stay current through our VCC App. (cont on page 2)

A Few Things of Note from Pastor Kevin Redig

The pictures here illustrate for you that we had a very enjoyable time of fellowship around God’s Word during our first Bible and Breakfast gathering on Friday the 17th of June. We had an exceptional turnout, and I am very grateful to the team who prepared such a marvelous breakfast. We did manage to make it through the book of 1 Peter in the time allotted, and look forward to a follow-up session in August to investigate 2 Peter.

And if you are thinking, “What about July?” We plan to get together on Friday night July 22nd for a time of dessert and a video from this year’s Lamb & Lion Prophecy Conference.

You can find instructions on how to load the App on the Church’s website homepage (right hand side at the bottom). The sound-room has done a great job of improving audio quality, so you should have no problem listening on your mobile device.

Lastly, I would like to encourage you to invite someone to our upcoming service on July 3rd. I think this service has the potential to be a great blessing for a number of reasons. First, how often have you thought to yourself, “What can I do for my country?” What can I do to stop our decline?” I hope to answer that question during the service, and in fact we are going to set aside time to pray for three very Biblical and practical considerations that I trust we will carry forward and ap-ply daily. In addition, as the first Sunday of the month we will be celebrating communion together, and I believe it will be a special time for our fellowship. In short, if you are in town, you will be blessed by joining us over the holiday weekend, so invite a friend who might be encouraged by sharing in that same time of wor-ship and fellowship around the things of the Lord.

In His grace, Kevin

Richard and Tricia Wagner: Last month Richard was able to spend a few days in Tucson. Flight delays prevented him from speaking as

planned at the Wednesday evening service on May 18. During the Sunday fellowship on the 22nd Richard gave a very informative presentation on the Flying-H Youth Ranch, and the ministry to which he and Tricia have been called. During his visit, Richard toured the SIL / Wycliffe facility in Catalina with Director George Hires (pictured left), and was blessed to learn that George’s father, Gene, founded the Flying-H Ranch ministry in 1962. The Wagners have acquired adequate

funding to allow them to move to their mission field and were commissioned by their home church, Quail Lakes Baptist in Stockton, California, on June 5th (pictured right). They arrived safely at the Ranch in Naches, Washington, on June 14. Keep the Wagners in prayer as they transition into this new chapter of service to the Lord.

Ken and Thurleen Bain traveled by motorhome from their home in Illinois to Hikiwan on the Tohono O’odham reservation early this year.

They were permitted to stay on the Gila River Pima reservation, which is closer to Phoenix, allowing Thurleen greater access to Physical Therapy providers. Ken was able to assist with construction projects in Hikiwan and Gila River. One of the blessings

of this season’s ministry was the Ordination of Felix Juan, who has been serving as Pastor of Christ Fellowship Community Church in Hikiwan. Felix has endured many trials this past year, but has not been deterred from serving and sharing his passion for Christ. Pray

for traveling mercies for the Bains, as they are currently returning to Hikiwan via motorhome, for them to have a time of productive construction and spiritual ministry, for Thurleen’s

continued recovery from her stroke, and for Felix Juan as he shares the Gospel among the Tohono O’odham. (Missions Update cont on page 4)

Wiggles Whew! Even I didn't know that bookworms could sweat--er, ah, perspire. That heat wave at the beginning of June almost made me join my uncle Bookworm; at least he doesn't perspire in his grave. Well, time to change the subject. It's summer time! That means you have lots of time indoors hugging your air conditioners and cuddling into favorite chairs with a good book (now where did that thought come from?). It just happens that I have an idea where you can find that good book! Surprise! The VCC library has more than 1,500 of them, just waiting for your eager perusal (love those fancy words!). And I can personally guarantee each and every one of them is in "good taste." Well, most of them anyway. As I told you a while back, I tried the CDs; nearly broke my teeth (heh, heh, didn't know Wiggles had teeth, did you.). So, what is on those CDs...you will just have to see for yourselves--and I hope you will! I'm lonely in here since all the snowbirds have left (sniff, sniff). I wonder how Uncle Bookworm got through summers. Ah well. Your library friend, Wiggles

Bryan and Diane Wilson with Flying Mission in Zambia are asking us to pray for their special needs teacher Joy Moir. Joy is back here in the USA, getting needed help with some health issues, and is urgently needed back in Zambia.

Fikret and Darlene Bocek would like to thank VCC for our prayers for safety and encourage-ment. Darlene reports that the first Izmir Protestant Church (IPK) Women’s Conference was a great success. Over a dozen ladies attended the week-long conference that focused on Finding Our Sab-bath Rest. Each lesson included an artistic expression activity to reflect the lesson’s intention. A conference highlight was the humble servant attitude of the men from church who volunteered to cook and serve the meals. Please continue to lift the women up as they grow in grace and knowledge of Christ. Please continue in prayer for the Boceks encouragement and protection.

The Missions Committee has approved a Wycliffe Translation Project disbursement. We will help

fund two more Popoloca dialect New Testament Translation dedication ceremonies in Mexico later

this year. A dedication in the village of Atzingo will take place in October, followed shortly thereafter

by a dedication in San Luis. Wycliffe translator Jeanne Austin will attend and participate in both

dedications. The celebrations will be centered on the reading of scriptures in the heart language of

the people, and the dissemination of New Testament Bibles.
