On Thursday evening, April 9, 2015 Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce members were treated like royalty at The Bridges Retirement Community. Janet Noah, Community Relations Liaison, and Donna Steiermann, Executive Director of The Bridges hosted this Caribbean themed event outside alongside their lovely pool. Midway into the evening the crowd, with all of their hats, was asked to gather round the ceremonial ring for the 2016 Honorary Mayor of Riverview Kick-Off. 2015 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Christian Beiter of Preservation 1st Financial Group, LLC led the countdown for all of those interested to throw their hats into the ring. When the flourish of excitement was finished, there were four hats in the ring.

These four candidates will begin their fundraising efforts on May 1, 2015 and will continue through until the announcement of a winner at the GRCC Monthly Membership Luncheon on July 28th.

• Iris Rojas-Davis of Iris Tax Service, LLC will be running to raise money for the Davis Rojas Foundation• Dwayne Lewis of EmbroidMe of Brandon will be fundraising on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Riverview• Melissa Hartmann from The Alley At Southshore will be providing money to her Greater Tampa Bowling Association• Jill Andrew of Superior Residences of Brandon Memory Care is campaigning to raise funds for YMCA Camp Cristina

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mothers...past, present, and future. It has been an interesting and busy year so far...we are almost half way there. My mother always said, “Time flies when you’re having fun”. Are you having fun in your business and community?

We have officially kicked off our Mayor’s race. Good luck to all four fabulous candidates. We are looking forward to attending the many fundraisers they have organized.

The Teaching to Excellence event planning team is already working on this year’s breakfast to warmly welcome our community’s new teachers and honor each local school’s 2015 Teacher of the Year. Also, Trick or Treat Street event planning team will begin meeting soon. It takes many hours and months of planning, and many volunteers for all our GREAT events to be successful.
