United Methodists will come together to support vital ministry projects and missionaries around the
world on #GivingTuesday as they generously #GiveUMC. (www.umcmission.org/giving-Tuesday)
Giving through The Advance empowers hundreds of dedicated project leaders and missionaries to
share the Love of Christ in meaningful, life-saving ways. As always, 100% of all giving will support
the designated Advance ministry!
How will you #GiveUMC? Find a project you are passionate about and make a donation!
#GivingTuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and kicks off the charitable season,
when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Begin the Holiday season by giving instead of getting and support #GiveUMC to show your Thanks on
#GivingTuesday. This is a great way to connect your passion to God’s mission!
When donating, be sure to write on the memo line of your check the fund # of the project to which your
contribution should be directed. Make checks payable to East Ohio Conference UMC, and mail them
to: East Ohio Conference * PO Box 76019 * Cleveland, OH. 44101-4755

A Call For Unity Of The Church
As the United Methodist Church heads into Special General Conference 2019, we need to heed Jesus Christ’s call for Unity (John 17:21-23). Though we have profound theological disagreements on mat-ters of human sexuality, we should strive “to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3). We are members of the Body of Christ, differently gifted for various functions, yet we are all marked as God’s children. We all need one another as one Body of Christ (Romans 12:4-6). The Church is urged to “Do everything possible to live in peace, so that you do not lose the Unity that the Spirit gave you.” (Ephesians 4:3) Or in the words of John Wesley, “In essentials, unity; in doubtful matters, liberty; in all things, charity.” Though there is much anxiety about how we move forward as a denomination, be committed to the vision and mandate to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the trans-formation of the world.” God’s call to Unity does not depend on our agreement. In that Spirit, we are grateful for the prophetic leadership of the Council of Bishops and the dedicated work of the Commis-sion on the Way Forward for exploring ways that enables the Church to continue to live out this man-date, even in the midst of our differences. A concise summary of the three plans to be considered at the General Conference in February is at-tached. A lot of falsehood surrounding the future of our Church is floating about. Do not be guilty of gossip or cynical thought but instead promote Unity. Guests and observers wishing to attend the Special Session of the General Conference, to be held Feb-ruary 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, may now pre-register online. Guest and observer registration is required to attend the session. There is a suggested badge fee of $7 for early registration and $10 for on-site registration to offset the costs of the credentialing process. Pre-registration is available through January 31, 2019.
Blue Rose Mission works to be the “hands and feet for Jesus” by
providing home repair/maintenance services in Richland County
to home owners unable to financially do so themselves.
Blue Rose Mission receives funding from grants, churches, indi-
vidual donations, and various fund-raising activities. As part of
the 2019 fund-raising efforts the BRM Board of Directors has tak-
en action to participate in Richland Gives which is an online giv-
ing event from November 1 through November 27, 2018.
If BRM can raise $1000 by November 27th, BRM can receive
matching funds. It would be such a blessing to gain an additional
$1000 from the Richland Foundation.
Anyone may donate. Donations made through Richland Gives are
received by Razoo Foundation, a 501c3 organization and then
granted to designated nonprofits. Donations may only be made via
credit or debit card. Checks are not acceptable since this is an
online giving event. Minimum donation is $10. There is no maxi-
mum donation. BRM donation link… https://mtyc.co/j6w1kf
