GOAL

OBJECTIVES

• To extend assistance to patients who, during their treatment, face social, physical, economic and psychological problems.

• To enable the patients to utilize the facilities under social security and welfare measures provided by the government and non-governmental institutions.

• To assess the psychosocial functioning of patients and families and intervene as necessary. Interventions may include providing psychotherapy, supportive counseling, or grief counseling; connecting patients and families to necessary support systems in the community; or helping a patient to expand and strengthen their network of social supports.

• To disseminate information on health and development themes through pamphlets, newsletters, brochures and booklets.

• To complement the efforts of health care providers in the prevention of disease, after care and social rehabilitation of patients.

ACTIVITIES

•Providing information and guidance to patients and other clients regarding facilities and services of the hospital.

•Counselling services- to the referral cases from clinical departments & Blood Bank.

•Teaching guidance and supervision to MSW and M.Sc(counseling) students.

•Coordinating and Extending outreach activities of the institution-various camps, satellite center, rural clinics and the like. •Coordinating grant in aid programme for Cataract cases.

ACTIVITIES

•Coordination with inter departments for organize and conduct important days and programmes. •Collect and compile reports on patient feedback about satisfaction of services in the hospital.

•Conduct feasibility studies on request from the management as and when required.

•Mobilizing community resources whenever require for rehabilitation of patients.

•. Liaison with local grama panchayaths, departments and NGOs for issue based support.

ACTIVITIES

•Assisting in implementation of national programmes like pulse polio, malaria, filarial, HIV.

•Representing the institution in seminar, workshop, meetings held by the social work and other institutions and departments

•Documentation of camps, programmes and activities conducted in the community and hospital.

•Conduct classes for MBBS(1st Term) and BPT(Final Year).

•Participating as resource persons on specific topics/themes on request from institutions and NGOs.

• Cataract screening camps under Grant in Aid from District Blindness Control Program in selected villages(Ongoing).

• Organization of Kotepura Health care and Development Project together with Community Medicine department(till 2009).

• Organization of Specialty Clinics in Sajipa and Suribail villages((July-Sep2009).

• Patient Pick up service in Kotekar and Belma Pamchayath areas (March-May 2009).

• Organization of Customer Care Campaign together with Marketing & Hospital Administration(April 2011 & 2012).
