OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITY:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE USER

this appliance may only be installed by a registered LP Gas installer. All registered installers are issued with a card carrying their registration number. Ask to be shown the card before allowing the installation work to commence and make a note of installer QCC number. upon completion of the installation the installer is required to explain the operational details of the appliance together with the safety instruction. You will be asked to sign acceptance of the installation and be provided with a completion certificate.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE INSTALLER

The installer must be registered with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association of Southern Africa. the appliance must be installed in accordance with SAnS 10087-1 requirements and any local fire department regulations and/or local bylaws.

INSTALLATION:

1. Before leaving the factory, unit has been fully assembled and undergone final tests.

2. this unit must be installed in a well ventilated area.

3. Unit must be installed on a fire proof surface complying with local fire department regulations. Surface must be level .

4. Remove plastic material protecting the stainless steel panels.

5. A gas valve must be incorporated in the supply pipe and fitted close to the unit. A gas regulator/governor (complying with SAnS 1237) set at the correct pressure must also be fitted close to the unit.

6. Before connecting the gas supply,check the serial plate and ensure that the unit is suitable for the type of gas being used. After connecting the gas supply,check carefully for leaks. As there may be air in the system,it will take several minutes to evacuate after turning the control on to light the pilot.

OPERATION:

1. Make sure that the gas is open at the main gas supply.

2. the pilot valve is located on the right hand side of front panel. turn the pilot valve to vertical position to open. (see figure 1)

3. Light pilot through the aperture on front panel on the right hand side of panel with a long match or long nose lighter. note there is a panel behind the front panel that acts as a fire wall, the pilot is located behind this panel.

4. turn burners on, working from right hand side towards the left side of unit by turning the burner valve handles to a vertical position(fully open). turn burners off by turning valve handles back to the horizontal position.

CLEANING:

1. Ensure unit is turned off before cleaning.

2. Clean when unit is still warm.

3. Wipe surface with soapy damp cloth.

4. use a soft sponge and warm soapy water when cleaning.

5. never use soda, steel wool,green 3M scouring pad or any other harsh abrasive to clean the unit.

6. to gain access to burners, the boiler plate is simply removed by lifting it off the unit, or by removing the front panel by undoing the securing screws. Please note that the boiler plate is difficult to physically handle due to its weight and size, remove with caution.

7. the unit has a removable drip tray at the bottom of unit which should be cleaned after use on a daily basis.

Method to check for gas leakage is as follows: • Ensure the area is well ventilated.

• Confirm that control knob is in OFF position.

• Mix up a solution of soap and water to a 50/50 ratio.

• Open the main gas control valve.

• Methodically brush the solution onto all the gas system joints, including all the valve connections, hose connections, and regulator connections.

• The formation of bubbles indicates a gas leak.

• Turn off the gas supply and re-tighten all joints where there are bubbles.

• Repeat the test.

• If bubbles appear again do not use the unit. Contact your supplier or service agent for assistance.

• Never use an open flame to test for gas leaks at any time.

WARNINGThis is an un-vented gas appliance. It uses air (oxygen) from the room in

which it is installed. Provisions for adequate ventilation must be provided.

SAFETY :

1. Always ensure that the pilot is lit before opening the gas valves. 2. Do not leave the unit unattended whilst lit.3. Do not move the appliance whilst lit.4. Do not place or use flammable materials near unit.5. Do not tamper with any parts sealed by manufacturer. Any modification of this

appliance is dangerous and will nullify any warranty. All repairs or adjustments should be made by a qualified technician.

6. turn off the gas supply at the main gas supply after use.7. this appliance consumes oxygen and is dangerous to the health and safety of

humans. use only in properly ventilated area.8. Gas leak testing should be done annually and/or whenever the unit is reconnected to

the main gas supply.9. Always inspect the hose for cuts,cracks,or excessive wear before use. Damaged

hoses must be replaced with suitable type which meets the national standards for the country of use(South Africa: SAnS 1156-2 or BS3212. the length of the hose shall not exceed 1.5M.

10. use gloves when handling hot containers11. If you smell gas turn off gas supply at the main gas supply (bottle ect.) Extinguish all naked flames Do not operate any electrical appliances Ventilate the area Check for leaks as detailed in this manual If odour persists call dealer or gas supplier immediately12. Burn back (fire in burner tube or chamber) In the event of burn back, where flame burns back to the jet, immediately turn off the

gas supply at the control valve on the panel. After ensuring the flame is extinguished, relight the appliance in the normal manner. Should the unit again burn back, close the control valve & call a technician. Do not use again until the technician has the unit declared safe to do so.

13. this appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless overseen and supervised by trained personnel.

14. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
