How Bacteria reproduce

Binary Fission• Step 1: genetic information

is copied• Step 2: cell membrane

begins to split• Step 3: new cell wall is

formed• Step 4: Two identical

bacteria cells are formed.• Asexual reproduction

exchanging DNA• Conjugation• During

conjugation a plasmid is transferred from one bacteria to another

Characteristics Viruses

• Non-living can not replicate on its own• Made of protein coat and genetic material• Protein coat gives virus its shape• Smaller than bacteria• Do Not perform any life functions• Can only replicate inside a cell
