Introduction
IBM SmartCloud Entry (2.2) Test Drive is a new cloud based offering available
through Virtual Loaner Program (VLP) NextGen Program for IBM Business
partners and ISVs.
IBM® SmartCloud Entry (delivered as IBM Starter Kit for Cloud) 2.2 is a self-
service portal for the Cloud end user, that complements IBM Systems Director
VMControl, VMware vSphere, and various other cloud implementations.
IBM SmartCloud Entry is implemented as a lightweight web-based application that
runs as an Open Services Gateway initiative (OSGi) application. SmartCloud Entry
provides an environment that enables cloud users serve themselves, while
maintaining control over the allocation of resources.
The self-service capabilities of IBM SmartCloud Entry simplify the process of
performing many common public or private Cloud operations.
Features of IBM SmartCloud Entry Test Drive are:
• Provisioning (deploying) and de-provisioning servers
• Drafting and cloning workloads
• Taking workloads snapshots
• Starting up and shutting down servers as part of a workload
• Resizing existing servers

Virtual Server
Using IBM SmartCloud Entry:
This document describes how to use IBM SmartCloud Entry through the VLP
NextGen Program.
Getting Started: This document is intended for users who are trying to access VLP NextGen Cloud
based systems.
This document assumes that you have a VLP SCE Test Drive reservation that is in
'ACTIVE' state.
How to create IBM SmartCloud Entry test drive reservation?
� Please visit the VLP web site: www.ibm.com/systems/vlp and request a promo
code (AIX7- IBM SmartCloud Entry Test Drive)
to create “IBM SCE Test Drive” reservation, using “What is a promotional code
and how do I get one?” link on Reservation Management Page
Note: If you are yet to make a VLP SCE Test Drive reservation (which is same as
creating VLP reservation), please visit the following link:

� Once SCE Test Drive reservation is active, please establish VPN connectivity
and access SCE GUI. VPN user id and password details are available on VLP
EUI’s reservation detail page.

� Connect to SCE GUI using the URL
http://172.xx.xx.xx:8080/cloud/web/login.html
E.g: If the IP address for your SCE Test Drive reservation is 172.29.136.98, then
the URL which needs to used is http://172.29.136.98:8080/cloud/web/login.html
� User needs to enter user id and user password from IBM SmartCloud Entry
Test Drive’s reservation detail page.
Note: User will not get root access privileges for IBM SmartCloud Entry
(SCE) Test Drive reservation, like you do on legacy VLP hardware.
� After logging-in to SCE test drive UI, Welcome tab is the default screen
displayed to the user.
� Access appliances using “Appliances” tab.
� By default “Basic” option is used for appliances deployment.
� Once you click on the “Deploy” button, following screen would appear.
� User needs to enter Workload name, Description, select CPU and Memory as
per the requirement. By default project is “Public”
� Status message for the workload would appear on the top section of SCE GUI:
� Depending on the workload deployment state, status will be available in the
“Workload Summary”. So when you deploy new workload, it will be in “In
Transition” state, later it will be in either of the other remaining states.
� “Deploy”, “Save” & “Cancel” appliances are the options available to the user.
� User can create a maximum of 5 workloads using SCE GUI.
� Once workload is created, it will be listed in the “Workload” tab.
� Verify the count in workload summary section. Workloads which are
successfully deployed come under “OK” state with a count 4.
� If you verify in the earlier screen shot, the count was 3.
� To know more about your recently created Virtual Server, click on the
workload.
� Virtual Server details like- which workload is being used, Hypervisor details,
Virtual Server host name, status, IP address with timestamps and logs.
� Remember the IP address 172.29.161.58 for recently added workload.
� User can verify this Virtual Server IP address in IBM Systems Director
portal.
� User should be able to view event log under “Events” tab.
Accessing the Virtual server (workload) using SSH
Accessing the virtual server is done through SSH.
1. Ensure there is VPN connectivity to VLP network (Task performed earlier)
For instructions on how to establish VPN connection, (page 5 to page 11) you may
refer to the connection user guide available on the `How To` column of the VLP
web site. For your reference, you may visit the following web link:

2. Accessing the Virtual Server (Workload):
After ensuring the VPN connectivity, please perform the following steps to access
the Virtual server (workload).
From recently added workload in the SCE Test Drive, you will get Virtual server
IP address details as shown below in the SCE GUI:
By default, the Virtual Server is setup with the following credentials:
User ID: guest
Password: ibm4isv
Accessing the Virtual server using PuTTy Client (if VPN connection is
established):
1. Launch the PuTTy client and enter the IP details of the Virtual server in the host
name or IP address field of the PuTTy client.
At the login screen, enter the userID as “guest” and password as “ibm4isv”.
Note: On a standard Linux/Unix platform, execute the following command:
'ssh [email protected]'
How to connect to IBM System Director to view “Virtual
Server” details?
� To connect to the IBM Systems Director console, expand the 'Cloud
Status' tab and click on the 'Launch Director” link.
� Click on “Navigate Resources” on the left panel to view recently created
Virtual Servers details.
� Select “All Systems” from Groups list
� User will get details about all systems like shown below.
� Recently added workload is – 4910_QA_Workload3 and IP address is –
172.29.161.58
� Click on sce-172-29-161-58 virtual server to know more details.
