Figuring Stackback on Drapes
Stackback is the amount of wall space needed if open panels are to clear the glass completely. This
dimension, added to the window opening, gives you the proper rod length.
Begin by measuring the window opening, and then consult the Stackback chart. Find your opening
measurement and read across the right rod length.
This chart is based on average pleating and medium weight fabric. Deduct 7” from rod length if you are
using a one-way draw.
If using bulky fabric add to stackback accordingly It can vary 10% to 20%.
You will have to add returns and overlaps to drapery coverage.
This chart is based on average pleating and medium weight fabric.

DRAPES
ALL ½ WIDTHS ARE CHARGED AS WHOLE WIDTHS.
Virginia Quilting uses a 4” double bottom hem as standard however we will automatically use single bottom hem in
lined drapes if short of fabric at no extra charge to customer. If you do not want to have single bottom hem if shortage
occurs please specify on your order.
SHEER fabrics- Face width times fullness divided by 36” =yardage
Widths are figured on 48”.
In order to railroad, length of drape cannot exceed 100”. We do not recommend trims or banding on sheer fabric.
KRINKLE fabrics- Require an upcharge and length cannot be guaranteed. These fabrics tend not to hang straight.
HEAVY WEIGHT fabrics- Require an upcharge. If pleated we cannot use a three prong pleat, and will require hand bonis.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING BLACKOUT LINING ON LIGHT COLOR FABRIC DUE TO THE BLACKOUT
SHOWING THRU AS SPOTS WHEN SEWN.
If you do not see product listed please contact us or send in picture for quote.

Figuring trim on swags and cascades
Formula to figure trim on cascades
Trim needed for slanted edge
Face width + long point x 1.5 (formula is for one cascade)
If trim is applied to short point add length of short point to above
Formula to figure trim on swags – per swag
Swag face + drop of swag x 1.5
Pricing Calculation Formulas
(when fractional footage is required we round up to nearest whole board foot or square foot)
Square foot Example Finished width x finished length = total inches 42” x 63”=2646” divided by 144” = 18.37 sq. ft.
Total inches are divided by 144” = Square footage You will be charged 19 square feet
Board foot Example Finished width divided by 12” = board foot 42” divided by12”= 3.5 feet
You will charged for 4 board feet
