• Viral marketing is a selling technique that is most commonly used in the film industry, its purpose is to increase brand awareness of a product, so companies can ultimately achieve their aim of selling more products.

Casino Royale uses viral marketing throughout the film. The way that this is done is by producers placing products within the film, to increase product awareness and make the viewers want to buy the product.Things such as Sony mobile phones were used in the film as well as the beer Heineken.The products also feature on the official website of the film, things such as the James Bond game now being available on PSP as well as other platforms.These are all things to promote products further and companies will pay a lot of money to have there product involved in a massive film like James Bond as it has a global audience and it has the capabilities to be able to attract new customers to the products being shown.

Convergence

Convergence is the interlinking of computing technologies, that is mainly used for media content. Film companies use this because of the rapid growth of the Internet and the ability that they have to reach out to everyone with access to it.An example would be a films website using flash technology to show what awards the film has won.

Convergence that has been used for Casino Royale is things like flash player being used on the official website to advertise the product. As well as this other things are advertise on the site, things such as the official game, mobile apps, the phone that was used in the film, PSP. A lot of these are Sony products, and this is because they can make money off advertising their products with the film and it doesn’t cost them anything to do it.
