Two days ago you had no idea who, or what this thing was and now you can't escape it. After receiving millions of views, thousands of shares, and a thought or image that you can't get out of your head you now know that this video/image/article has gone viral. Everyone is talking about. Im not sure about you but Im definitely curious to know why a baby biting his brothers finger is worth 800 million views? Why has a song in a foreign language racked up over 2 billion views, and what is so interesting about a girl repetitively singing Friday? Dont you want to know what it takes to make a viral video, song, picture, or even article? For my 20% project I am hoping to uncover the secret steps, and groundwork that it takes to produce an eye-catching, movement inspiring work of art. With the proper research I believe that it is possible to understand what parts of the video/song/article/picture (multimedia) stand out the most, why people are attracted to it, and how to incorporate it in to your own multimedia piece. For example I know that when viewers have no prior knowledge of information they prefer shorter videos that get straight to the point. This is vital information to keep in mind if I was making, lets say a how to video for YouTube. This is because the average attention span of todays Internet user would require the most amount of information in the least amount of time. For various tips, and a professional outlook I am hoping I can get in contact with various people who have created viral content through the Internet. I am still deciding who I should try reaching out to since many people who create viral content are either famous, or their multimedia has brought them fame. The fact that some celebrities careers started from a video or song that spread around the Internet shows the power, and potential of the viral video. Hopefully in the end I will crack the code to creating viral record breaking content and share with you the secrets to taking over the Internet.
