Grade 1
Grade one is in full swing! We are working on making
good sentences, guided reading and learning to read
our no excuse words. You will notice a ring of words
come home each night. Practice reading these each
night. Once they can read them all they will move on to
spelling them. In math we are skip counting to 20 by
2’s, the number before and after and counting back-
ward from 20. We are beginning patterns this week.
Thanks to everyone for sending in things for our class-
room basket. Homework will start soon and I will send a
letter explaining how it will work when the time comes.
Please keep reading to your child each day, as it is so
important to help with their own reading.
Grade 4 What a fantastic first month Grade 4 students have had! I am very proud of
their accomplishments in math and literacy so far. In math the stu-
dents have been working on representing numbers in different
ways, and putting numbers in ascending and descending order. The
students are moving on to adding and subtracting numbers to
1000.
In Literacy the students are working on persuasive writing. Ask your
child if they can tell you what a piece of persuasive writing is. They
are also working on their reading and Grade 4 spelling and sight
words.
Keep up the great work Grade 4!!
Miss Giddens

Students participated in the kindness initiative #becca toldmeto in September. They demonstrated how they were going to carry on Becca’s legacy of being kind to one another by sharing something kind that they would do for a loved one or a friend on Sunday September 15th. Students at CICS continue to inspire and motivate one another with their kindness each and every day. Keep up the great work CICS Vikings.
On October 28th, grade 11 and 12 students will be attending Post-Secondary Day in St. Stephen. Students will get an opportunity to discuss their post-secondary plans with recruitment representatives from various universi-ties, colleges and private training institutes. Looking forward to discussing the next step with our seniors as they traverse through their final year at CICS and get ready for all the opportunities the world can bring them.
Boys Soccer Team
Senior Girls Soccer
At the midpoint of the Varsity Girls soccer sea-son, our team hasn't quite gotten the results we were hoping for at the beginning, but it's not for a lack of great skill and determination. Our veter-ans have been leading the way with chance after chance, but the breaks just aren't coming our way. Our younger core have been learning on the fly, excelling when their opportunity comes up. Close losses in our league games have us optimistic for the upcoming matches. Four games remain on the regular season, with our final home game coming on Oc-tober 8th against SJDA. Go Vikings!
