On the occasion of 60 th anniversary of establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations and 140 th anniversary of the birth of Pt. Konin Omiya, an exhibition on Brahmi Script titled “An Exhibition of Pt. Konin Omiya’s Brahmi Script Writings- from Indus to You” was organized at the ICC Gallery from 3-7 December. An exhibition titled “Road to India- Art that linked Japan and India” exhibited at The Okura Museum of Art from 6 October to 16 December 2012 in Tokyo. The art showing the connection between India and Japan were exhibited. The exhibition was supported by Embassy.

Swami Medhasananda, President of the Vedanta Society of Japan conducted the monthly discourse on “Sri Bhagavad Geeta” in Japanese language at the ICC Multi-Function Room on December 1. The Vedanta Society of Japan is a branch of “Ramakrishna Mission” in India.

On the occasion of 60th anniversary of establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations and 140 th

anniversary of the birth of Pt. Konin Omiya, an exhibition on Brahmi Script titled “An Exhibition of Pt. Konin Omiya’s Brahmi Script Writings- from Indus to You” was organized at the ICC Gallery from 3-7 December. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ambassador of India. During the opening ceremony a commemorative lecture on Brahmi Script and Pt. Konin Omiya was delivered by the High Priest of the Buddhist Temple followed by Buddhist Mantra Chanting and Indian Classical dance performances. Original, Brahmi Script scrolls, printed material and photographs were exhibited at the exhibition.

July - December 2012 session on ICC classes is concluded on 21 December 2012. Registration for Jan – June 2013 session for all the nine ICC classes on Bharatanatyam, Indian Contemporary Dance, Oddisi, Sambhalpuri Dance, Tabla, Vocal Music, Yoga, Hindi and Bengali language was open from 3 to 21 December.

India IT-Club held a panel discussion/seminar at the ICC Multi-Function Room on 6 December. The IT Club

seminars are supported by Embassy of India, Tokyo. More than 65 members attended the event.

As part of the celebration to mark the 60 th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations, an Indian classic movie “Umrao Jaan” was screened at the ICC Auditorium on 10 Dec. More than 100 Japanese and Indian people enjoyed the movie.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relation, a fusion Indian classical music and Bharatnatyam, Kathak and Odissi dance performance by Ms. Uma Dogra & her 6-member group was organized at the ICC Auditorium on 12 Dec. Invitation was open to all. The programme was very well appreciated. More than 200 guests attended the show.

An India Fair titled “Isetan Meets India” organized by Isetan Mitsukoshi Co. Ltd in collaboration with Embassy from 12 to 17 Dec was held at the Isetan Department Store in Tokyo as part of the celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of India-Japan diplomatic relations. Apart from Indian Food, Dance and Music, antique jewellery collection from Gem House India was displayed. The fair was inaugurated by Ambassador.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations, a Japanese book titled “60 Secrets of India” was launched by the Ambassador on 14 Dec at the ICC Auditorium. The book has basic information about Indian culture and history and it is published by embassy in collaboration with Indian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

18 Law students along with two Teachers from Tokyo University visited ICC under the regular school visit programme on 20 December. A documentary film on India, produced by XP Division MEA was screened. Power point presentation was made for the participants followed by a question-answer session on India. DCM interacted with the students.

July – December 2012 session on ICC classes was concluded on 21 December. 276 students were enrolled in this session. Nine different classes - Bharatnatyam, Odissi dance, Tabla, Vocal, Yoga, Sambhalpuri folk dance, Contemporary Indian dance, Hindi and Bengali languages were taught in this session. A session conclusion ceremony organized at the ICC Auditorium on 21 December. Certificates of attendance awarded to the students and students from each ICC classes gave 5-min performance. All the ICC students along with their family members and Embassy officials were invited to attend the event.
