Innovation Playground - Curriculum Ideas for Paper CircuitsLeadership Academy 2017 – Patti Weeg and Technology Coaches
Primary:
PreK and Kdgn: Writing: Students create a paper circuit to show any types of weather. They write a sentence to tell about the weather.
Sample:
Grade 2: Math and Reading: Students create solid figures with nets cut from a Silhouette machine (in some schools) and add a paper circuit. They discuss the attributes of the solid shape by counting faces, vertices, and edges. In Grade 2 the essential questions for their reading Unit 3, Around Town, are: How do people in communities depend on each other? How are communities alike and different?
Grade 1: Unit 4: Our EarthStudents create a pop-up information card with a paper circuit representing any of the following environments:
Tundra/Greenland Underwater Ocean Rainforest Desert
Sample: The Great Kapok Tree
Students create a pop-up card and illuminate it with LED lights from behind the mountains. This card can accompany a written explanation of the essentail question, “What role do I play in the environment?”
This card was created by Karen Apolenis.

Elementary:
Grades 3, 4, and 5: Students illustrate a word and include a paper circuit. In the sample below they can write to explain how they collaborated with a partner during a specific task.
Grades 3, 4, and 5: Publishing with illumination. Students can write a Haiku or paragraph and add a paper circuit to “electrify” their writing.
Grade 4: Unit 4 – Nature: Friend and FoeGrade 5: Unit 1: Nature's Fury
Students can create a paper foldable that will accompany the Dynamic Earth Content Reader, "A Day in the Life of Lava". Each paper foldable will include a parallel circuit.
The card below was created by Karen Apolenis.
Grade 3: Unit 2: Celebrating Traditions FablesStudents can create a display that shares about a favorite family celebration, activity, memory or tradition. Each display will include a parallel circuit and may be designed using cardstock, shoeboxes, or other repurposed materials. Example- My family always takes a trip to New York City each summer. We love to see the city lit up at nighttime. The card below was created by Karen Apolenis.
