Emergency Evacuation Refuges and Equipment

Location of Refuge Points

The lifts used for general access into and out of each building have a mobility action notice summarising the action to take and the location of the refuges for the building you are in.

Proceed to a Refuge Point

In the event of an emergency evacuation please make your way to a refuge point

Communication Point

Use the refuge point communication system to call the building control point (at the fire alarm panel) and Maxwell Security, to report your position and what support you require, as detailed in your PEEP (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan).

If there is no refuge point communication system, or it has been damaged, please use your mobile phone to contact the emergency number 0161 295 3333 - Maxwell Security Emergency Number. It would be helpful to save the emergency number to your mobile phone for future reference.

The building fire wardens will sweep the refuge points during the evacuation and report your presence to the Building Controller. Please note that they may not be present outside office hours, so always confirm your location to Maxwell Security.

Evacuation

You will not be evacuated from the refuge unless there is a confirmed fire. The refuges are designed to offer protection from fire and are a safe place to wait until the all clear is given or a decision is made to evacuate.
