Theme: “#NoFilter: Embracing My Identity in Christ | 2 Corinthians 5:17” Summit Workshops: Real or Nah? The PERCEPTION people have of us is their REALITY. How we present ourselves to the world plays a major role in how we are perceived by them. Unfortunately, the way we are viewed as individuals and as the collective body of Christ, in many instances, does not reflect the true essence of what God has intended us to be. In this workshop, we will examine who we are in Christ, and discover whether or not the image of ourselves we actually promote in our usage of social media and our personal interactions with the world lines up with our identity in Christ. Facilitator: Joseph Lightfoot, Assistant Pastor, Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Kankakee I Woke Up Like This, #Flawless Media, social and peer pressures influence the way we see ourselves. Our mental perception of what we look like can become distorted, leading us to engage in risky behaviors when we feel we don’t measure up to the impossible standards set in front of us. Self image issues can lead to eating disorders, drug and alcohol use, cutting, bullying and sexual addictions. In this workshop, we will examine the biblical standard for our existence and challenge each other to see ourselves the way God sees us, so we can all be comfortable in our own skin. I’m Different/#ScandalHow do I honor God through my God given identity when I live in a culture that has been shaped by the world and NOT His Word? We will examine the root causes for the high levels of immorality in our world and the role of pop culture in this decline. The workshop will challenge believers to recognize immoral trends, fads and behavior and make appropriate life decisions accordingly.
