Hammurabi’s Code was the first uniform law code. However, it was not equal for everyone. Punishments depended on class. For instance, the upper class could pay money to the lower classes, versus lower class if caught stealing, the hand would be cut off. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth is the most popular/well known law.
