Understanding Myanmar What to consider when working in Myanmar? Intensive two-day training aiming at building intercultural competencies for being successful in Myanmar Objective Participants will deepen their knowledge of the cultural, social and historical framework conditions in Myanmar, and will thus be enabled to successfully deal with every-day situations in Myanmar. If you are planning to move to or work in Myanmar, this training will prepare you to reduce your time for adaptation and allow you to have a head start when settling in, expanding your local network or working in intercultural teams. Who should attend? Private company representatives, potential investors, business consultants, international organization experts and non-profit sector professionals who are destined to work or focus on Myanmar. The training language is in English, good communication skills (understanding and speaking) are a prerequisite. About the TrainersAung Thein Kyaw (ATK)Aung Thein Kyaw (ATK) is a freelance consultant and an established writer based in Myanmar (Burma). ATK has over 30 years of experience as journalist/writer in a formerly isolated country. In addition he has worked with foreign missions, UN agencies and international government and non-government organizations. He has published 35 books in Burmese language, both fiction and non-fiction, focusing on relationships, etiquette and manners, and he has also been facilitating workshops and trainings for different types of audience on different topics ranging from interpersonal communications to dealing with intercultural differences.Dominik WeidertDominik Weidert is an economist, facilitator and trainer working for GIZ on private sector development and investment promotion in Myanmar. In his current position, he is heading a local team and working closely with public and private actors in Myanmar. One of his tasks is to support the identification and reduction of obstacles for foreign and local investors and incoming business people. Before moving to Myanmar, he lived and worked in Thailand (with frequent missions to Myanmar) and P.R. China. He has graduated as an economist from the University of Mainz, Germany and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, P.R. China.

Collaboration with German-Thai Chamber of CommerceThis training will be conducted by GIZ Training Bangkok in cooperation with the German-Thai Chamber of Commerce (GTCC) and Dr. Monika Staerk, Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Myanmar. Member companies of the GTCC will be eligible for a special member fee of 500EUR. GIZ employees will be eligible for the employee rate.
