This weekend artists across LoudounCounty open their doors for you! On thisfree, self-guided driving tour, visit the64 participating artists in their studiosand guest spaces. We celebrate our 13thyear of introducing visitors to the amaz-ing wealth of artistic talent located righthere in Loudoun County.
WLAST is one of the only events where the public can seelocal artists where they work, experience one-on-one interaction, and view live art demonstrations with professional and emerging artists.

Carrie Althouse is a local potter and pottery instructor. A former
art teacher, now stay at home mom/potter, Carrie creates both
functional and non-functional stoneware pieces. Her work has a
rustic yet elegant style. Each piece is wheel thrown, hand
carved, glazed and fired twice to a stoneware state.
Offering on tour: Functional and sculptural pottery. Surface treatment demonstrations.
Directions: Round Hill Art Center is just beyond Round Hill on Rt. 7 West. We are located in the

Maureen creates wheel thrown and hand-built stoneware pottery that is functional and decorative. She prides herself inproducing pieces that are truly one-of-a-kind. Her work is reflective of non-traditional designs created by using handmade stamps, carvings, and altered forms.

Julie's jewelry features custom glass beading with silver
components. Her glass creations are inspired by images that
move her: waves crashing on the beach, the warm colors of

For Dale, woodturning releases the natural beauty of wood.
Using a lathe and tools, he transforms a piece of tree into a
functional item or artistic creation that can be used and enjoyed
for many years. "Mother Nature has done all of the real work
and my job is to simply reveal it."
Offering on tour: Hand crafted artistic and utilitarian pieces. Over 90% of these items
are made from fallen trees in Loudoun County.
Directions: From Route 50, turn on to St. Louis Rd. (Rt. 611) northbound. Turn left on Foxcroft
Road (Rt. 626). After about 1 mile, turn left on Unison Road, then right on Bloomfield Road. In
about 150 yards, the studio will be on the left. GPS directions to my studio are accurate.

Richard creates a wide variety of high-fired pottery — bowls,
plates, mugs, vases, wine coolers, sake sets, bird houses,
pitchers, oil jars, honey jars, garlic keepers, espresso cups
and more — that are both beautiful and functional.
Offering on tour: Throwing demos. Tours of studio and kiln shed. Refreshments.
Directions: From East Colonial Highway (old Route 7), go south on Canby Road (Route 662)
for about 3/4 of a mile. Sign for #17642 is on the left. Go down a long (almost a quarter mile)
driveway, over a cattle grate, to our restored barn that dates back to the 1840s.

Woodturner Denis Delehanty turns local woods that are
destined for the landfill. Denis creates utilitarian and artistic
pieces that capture the natural beauty of local Virginia
hardwoods, which will be used and treasured for generations
to come.

Geoff works with functional forms, primarily on the wheel. Helikes to alter some of the forms by pushing, pressing, and cutting. A simple manipulation can transform surface andshape. His intent is to have the interactions with his work bevisual, physical, and functional.

Lori is inspired by the beauty of nature and is known for pastel
seascapes that capture the ever-changing light and moods of
the sea and shores of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Lori works

Marilyn Harrington is a weaver and dyer who specializes in colorful and distinctive scarves and shawls of silk, tencel, andwool. Many of her products are hand dyed. Her scarves strike a contemporary note with designs that are intriguing from bothnear and far.

hammer, saw, and torch she combines precious metal, wire,
and stones into wearable pieces of artwork. Meredith's love of
animals and nature are often the inspiration for her pieces.

Karen Hustwaite #34 on mapKaren Hustwaite, Metalsmith - Enamelist

Karen is a metalsmith and enamelist who creates jewelry andsculptures that highlight the beauty and depth of vitreous enamel. Her approach to design uses a contemporary twist onancient techniques. The framework of each piece is fabricatedby hand using copper, fine silver, fine gold or steel and thenfused with enamel during a multi-firing process.
Offering on tour: Small sculptures, enamel wall panels, and avariety of hand fabricated jewelry including earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets.
Directions: Proceeding west through Middleburg on Rt 50, turn left into first drive past the
National Sporting Library & Museum and continue to house at the end of the drive. Heading east
from Upperville on Rt 50, turn right into first driveway past the sign for the Middleburg Library
and just opposite of Reed St and continue to house at the end of the driveway.

Dana creates unique, one-of-a-kind sterling silver or copper
wire wrapped jewelry. Her wearable art is designed to highlight
the flow and personality of the stone chosen. Every item is held
together by the wire wrap frame and embellishments, glue and
solder are never used. According to the artist, each piece
weaves its own story, sometimes with surprising endings.

copper wire and semi-precious stones. Demonstrations

The Catoctin cluster is in the northern part of the county — includingthe Town of Lovettsville and the Village of Lucketts — and features ninetour stops hosting 16 artists. A number of dining options are available inLovettsville.
The Waterford/Leesburg cluster combines the Village of Waterford andTown of Leesburg Studios. It features nine tour stops hosting 15 artists.Leesburg offers many dining options for every appetite.
The Loudoun Valley cluster is centered on Purcellville and featureseleven tour stops hosting more than 20 artists. Purcellville also offers alarge number of dining options for your lunch or dinner during the tour.

which first attracted her to the subject. She enjoys switching

Debbie (and her husband Scott) create wheel thrown and
sculpted wood-fired pottery. They fire their large three chamber
Japanese style kiln and keep the fire burning inside this large
climbing kiln for eight days and nights! The Williamsons rely on
the flame of their wood fire to affect the surface of their wares
resulting in a distinctive organic elegance in their work.

for all levels.

I create one of a kind, sterling silver bracelets, necklaces and
earrings using the art form of chain mail (think Medieval armor).
I have collected gemstones and sterling silver beads for years,
and I strive to find new ways of using them in my designs.

Directions: From Rt 7, exit at Rt 287 and travel south to traffic circle. At the traffic circle, take
the 2nd exit and continue south on Rt 1610 (William Druhan Blvd). At the first stop sign, turn left
and travel south on Lincoln Rd (Rt 722) until it ends at North Fork (Rt 728). Turn right at North
Fork, then right again at Greggsville. 19783 Greggsville is about a half mile on the left- look for
the big red barn!
