PROGRESS REPORT AT NIVR
DANG THI THANH SON-NIVR

PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I. National Action Plan on AMU and AMR
II. Progress of the livestock component of the NAP at NIVR
III. Future activities

1.
New Veterinary Law has
been effective since 01
July 2016.
4.
Decision No. 2625/QĐ-BNN-TY,
signed by MARD, 21/6/2017 on
National Action Plan for the Control
of Antimicrobial Use and
Antimicrobial Resistance in
livestock production and
aquaculture (2017-2020)
2.
5.
New Degree 39/2017/ND-
CP dated 4/4/2017 on
animal feeds with addition
of antibiotics which will be
totally eliminated in 2020.
MARD issued 11 Circulars
on disease control, AMU and
AMR; more than 20 official
letters to direct and enforce
controlling AMU, AMR
3.
6.
FAO supported Vietnam
to develop the NAP
since 2016
Developed and implemented the
national programme for strictly
control of the use of antibiotic
raw materials in veterinary
medicine production
I. NAP FOR THE CONTROL OF AMU AND AMR IN LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION AND AQUACULTURE (2017- 2020)
4
Mitigate the risk of antibiotic resistance in public health through controlling the antibiotic
usage in livestock production and aquaculture in Vietnam.
3. Implement good treatment and husbandry practices in livestock production and
aquaculture
1. Review and enforce policy and governance related to AMR and AMU in livestock
production and aquaculture
4. Monitor AMR, AMU and antimicrobial residues in food and agriculture
2. Increase awareness of AMU and AMR among livestock and aquaculture
professionals, producers and consumers
5. Facilitate inter-sectoral collaboration in management of
the risk of AMR.
OBJECTIVES OF NAP
Overall objective:
Specific objective:
5
MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF NAP
3. Enforce the regulations and technical guidelines in place;
1. Strengthen/consolidate the state management of AMU and AMR;
4. Increase awareness of AMU and the risks of AMR;
2. Improve the legal basis for AMU and AMR management;
5. Implement good treatment and husbandry practices in livestock
feed manufacturing and livestock production and aquaculture;

pig-farmers, and chicken, in 7 provinces in Vietnam,
sponsored by FAO, DANIDA – Focusing AMR in enteric
bacteria (E. coli and Salmonella spp)
2. Studying on AMR (phenotype and improtant
