• Send your flight details if you have not already! (We cannot arrange to pick you up from the airport in Ho Chi Minh City if we don’t know on what flight you’re arriving.)
• Leave the attached Emergency Contact Information with family.
• Register with the State Department: https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/ The Habitat GV Dept. strongly advises registering with the State Dept. so that they know you are there in case of any emergency.
• We must pay for the Mekong Floating Market trip (Sunday, January 9th) in advance. Please send a check for $45 per person to Linda before December 24th. Address: 23 Commonwealth Road Watertown, MA 02472
• Pack your suitcase! Be aware that you are limited to 50 lbs. international and for those going to Hanoi, the limit is 20 kg (approx. 44 lbs.) Everyone received a packing list with newsletter #2 (and on our website)– USE IT – it’s a great guide on what to bring.

Team meetings/daily reflections Wewillmeetmostdaysasateamtodebriefaboutourday,gooverthescheduleforthefollowingday(s),andreflectonourexperiences.Weareaskingforteammemberstoparticipatebyleadingadailyreflectionforthegroup(optionalofcourse).Inthepast,peoplehavebroughtwiththemapoem,story,pictureoraquotetheywanttoshare.We’llalsohaveadailyjournalthatwewillaskeveryonetocontributetoduringthebuild.Afterwegethome,itwillbetranscribedandsharedwiththeteam.Thisgiveseveryoneanopportunitytoexperiencedifferentpiecesofthebuildthroughsomeoneelse’seyesandisawonderfulremembranceofthetripandexperience.Additional items to consider bringing: Manyteammemberswanttoknowwhattobringasgifts.Wediscouragebringingcandyortoys,unlessyouwanttopackasoccerballorFrisbeetoplaywiththechildren.Rememberthatyoucannotgivethesetoanyonechildoritwillcausejealousyandfights.Butthesethingscreatewonderfulplaytimeactivities.Andpleasedonotgivemoneytobeggars,includingchildren.Ifyouwanttoleaveextramoneyforthecommunity,theHabitataffiliateknowswhoisinmostneed.
• Ifyouwouldliketobringsomethingtooffer,wewillbevisitingaschoolandtheyalwaysneedschoolsupplies:notebooks,pencils,etc.Wewillgivethemtotheprincipaloftheschoolfordistribution.
• Inaddition,weareaverylargeteamandtheaffiliateisdoingtheirbesttobesurethereareenoughtoolsonsite.Ifsomeofyoucouldpacktrowels,hammers,levels,ormeasuringtapes(besureitincludesmetric),theywillbeveryhandyandwecanleavethemwiththeaffiliateforfutureteams.Andwealwaysneedadditionalworkgloves!
• Ifyouwanttopacksomeadditionalclothesthatyouwanttogiveaway,theaffiliatewillbehappytocollectanddistributetheseaswell.OftenteammembersleavebehindT‐shirts,jeans,shoes,etc.thattheydon’twanttobringback.
