About Orbit
Orbit takes audiences to the moments in our lives that happen right before the moment; when
the choices have been made and the results lie around the corner, but haven’t arrived quite yet.
Whether you’re anticipating the triumph of your dreams coming true, or watching your boat slowly sink
into the sea, the cast of Vienna Juvenile returns for their third revue to ask this simple question: “What
do we do while we’re waiting?”
About Vienna Juvenile Sketch Comedy
Vienna Juvenile Sketch Comedy strives to create emotionally driven comedy revues that focus
on the common human experiences we share but so rarely talk about—shedding light on anxieties, joys
and fears that we often keep to ourselves. Formed in October 2013 by Layne Dixon, Anthony Smith and
Hank Greene, the group has since gone on to write two full length sketch revues together: Who Do I
Give This Money To at Gorilla Tango in Bucktown and Journey Into Hindsight at Stage 773, that latter of
which was called “a joy to watch… and hilarious” by The Sketch Review. Their work has been featured at
Chicago Sketchfest, at the Green Mill as a part of The Paper Machete, and most recently as a headlining
act at the 2015 Indiana University Campus Comedy Festival.
Who We Are
Sophie Blumberg (Director) is thrilled to return to Vienne Juvenile for Orbit. Her work with
them was last seen on their premiere show Who Do I Give This Money To. She recently completed the
Directing Internship at Actors Theatre of Louisville in the 2014/2015 Season. Regional Theatre Credits:
Director for Don't Leave Me Here Okay, The Q&A, Elsewhere, and The Rulers of All Worlds: A [Cos]Play at
Actors Theatre of Louisville with the Apprentice/Intern Company. Assistant Dramaturg for Smokefall,
The Upstairs Concierge, Feathers and Teeth, and Buzzer at the Goodman Theatre. Chicago Theatre:
Director at Chicago Writers Bloc, The Women's Theatre Alliance, Fury Theatre, Vienna Juvenile, and Cold
Basement Dramatics. Additional Credits: She directed the world premiere of Jason Lindner’s The Half-‐
Life of Memory through an In the Works Grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and
Special Events. Former Artistic Director and Company Member with Cold Basement Dramatics.
Blumberg received her B.A from Kenyon College.
Layne Dixon (Writer/Ensemble) has appeared with Vienna Juvenile in the original revues
Journey Into Hindsight and Who Do I Give This Money To, and was also recently seen in The Second City
Conservatory show, Comedy Train. Other credits include Strapped In at the Annoyance Theatre,
independent improv group Dinner for Yesterday and The Second City’s student writing 6 show, Love,
Security and Other Mythical Creatures. Originally from Atlanta, Layne is a graduate of the Second City
Conservatory and previous member of Indiana University’s Awkward Silence Comedy. When she's not
reading The Giving Tree or unsuccessfully trying to swaddle her dog you can find her taking photographs
of people around town. She is incredibly excited and grateful to be part of such an amazing show.
