Dear Stakeholders,
Greetings from VDJS!
With immense delight and gratitude, I share with you the unprecedented result of Classes XII & X Board Examination 2019 of our beloved Jindalites. Our girls have truly made us proud.
Class XII, Rubani Cheema secured the 3rd highest score at All India level and the 2nd highest in the state of Haryana by attaining 497 on 500 making it to a whopping 99.4%. Gracy Singh is not far behind with an aggregate of 99.2% by scoring 496 on 500. Another feather in our cap is the total of 58 centum scores in 10 different subjects out of the 22 subjects we have on offer in Class XII.
Class X, Kumkum Suneja has followed in the footsteps of her seniors and made us proud with a score of 490 on 500, a perfect 98%. Armeen Kaur and Aditi Sharma followed her closely by attaining 97.8% and 97.6%, respectively.
The consistent work by the students, dedicated efforts of the teachers, blessings of the proud parents, and the uncondit ional support and guidance of the School Management Team lead by the dynamic leadership of our Chairperson Mrs Deepika Jindal Ji has been instrumental to this historic success.
My heartfelt compliments to my girls, their parents, and the Staff on the impressive results. While the School rejoices in the glory of the success in Publ ic Examinat ions, VDJS is committed to equipping her girls with the 21st century skills for the larger cause of inspiring the young girls to lead society to new possibilities in a rapidly-changing world.
I am sanguine we'll have many more such moments to celebrate in the years to come.
With warm wishes,
Yours sincerely

Dear Teachers
I don't have words to express my gratitude of how grateful I am to you all. I came in VDJS eight years back and today I can proudly say that my journey at VDJS has been successful.
I never thought that I would top the School and who knew that would bless wahegurume with so much that now it has become difcult to count my blessings. The past few days have been the most beautiful ones of my life be it the newspapers or the radio people interviewing me and playing my favourite song, it's all a big dream for me.
The School has been a beautiful place with amazing people like you all who always supported me. I still remember myself as a chubby little girl laughing with all my teachers and friends.
It has just been a month and we all miss the School already. It feels so good that the batch of 2019 proved their worth and faith which you all bestowed upon us.
And truly the reason is gem like teachers who we got in our journey.
Thank you all once again.
Long Live VDJS!
Regards
Rubani Cheema
Dear Teachers
Today my heart swells with pride to have a glance at the result that our Batch of 2019 has produced. I think it is the outcome of an amalgamation of proper guidance and support of the teachers along with hard-work and dedication of the students.
I still remember how we transformed ourselves from those careless students trying to miss lectures to those serious and obedient children so enthusiastic to grab all that our teachers had to say.
I would like to put on record that the amount of effort all the teachers had put in to make us study is commendable. It was that which helped us score this result. Teachers coming to the hostels, calling us for extra classes, doubt clearing sessions and moreover the motivational speeches were awesome and we are so grateful for that.
Over and above, I am proud of our section "D"( after all Humanities stream). We had all sorts of fun including watching Voot Documentry, Bigg Boss and occasional mass bunks (though faced consequences as well). But jokes apart, I think it was CONSISTENCY and HARDWORK that our batch not only preached but also practised.
All the best Jindalites!

8If you think that scholars are boring bookworms, toppers are arrogant snobs or that the desire for academic exce l lence means renouncing everything else think again for here we present before you Rubani Cheema CBSE third position holder who secured a staggering 99.4%. The multitalented Rubani was seen everywhere, doing everything that the school offered. Be it sports, debating, theatre and what have you there was nothing that she missed. The life and soul of her House she could be seen mimicking, chatting endlessly and counseling and mentoring juniors. Rubani sure has proved that if your goals are well defined and your strategies in place then there can be no stopping.
Here's Rubani in conversation with the Editorial Board.
You joined the School in Class V. What made your parents choose VDJS as the School for you?
My mother always saw some spark and talent in me which she felt would not be fully explored in a day school. Hence with a strong heart she decided that I should be sent to a residential school. VDJS became the natural choice because of its popularity and reputation as the centre of all round excellence. She was convinced that THIS would be the place where I would nd my wings and indeed it was.
It is believed that if one aspires for high academic grades then one has to give up on many other interests and passions. But you were equally active in the eld of co curricular and sports. How did you balance it all?
I owe immense gratitude to the school for equipping me with the skill of multitasking. I vividly remember Ma’am Mila, my Junior HM, who used to give my name for all the Inter House Competitions be it dance, singing, poetry recitation or fancy shows. Verma ma’am and Bosky ma’am who selected me for almost all the compeering. Rohit Sir who explored my hidden talent of dramatics and Sanjay Sir who encouraged me for Hockey and gave me a chance to represent the school in IPSCs. I would also like to mention Anita Ma’am who has been a constant pillar of support in the last two years of the chool. She Shad immense faith in her XII D which I am happy to have lived upto. Gaurav Sir who pushed me into Documentary making, a zone where I could never ever imagine myself. And how can one forget Santosh sir who instilled the sense of condence in me with just one line that “You can crack UPSC”. It was all because of the faith shown in me and the time invested in me by all my teachers that I could become an all rounder.
You had been working very hard. Had you expected such a phenomenonal result?
Tête-à-Tête
Well, honestly in my wildest dreams I had not expected that I would top the school and to my surprise this is where I am today. This achievement of mine has taught me that if we work with sincerity and honesty of purpose then the outcome can be nothing short of great. And of course after a well earned achievement the joy knows no boundaries. So I would urge you all to work with indefatigable zeal from day 1 as miracles don't happen. It is only hard work which pays off.
The entire VDJS community is proud of you. How does it feel to have created history?
Like I said it still feels like a dream. It felt so surreal to have received messages from Principal ma'am which said that "You have created history and the Batch of 2020 has geared up to break this record considering you as their role model."
Infact it is so heartening to see that the seniors who didn't even know me celebrated my victory and the amazing part was that within a day my Instagram crossed over 400 followers.
Such messages have motivated me all the more to do more things in life and keep the school ag uttering high with pride.
What tips would you like to share with your juniors?
I always feel that each girl has her own unique talent which the others should acknowledge and appreciate. I believe every girl should have faith in herself and work single mindedly towards fullling her goals.
I had set a target of 98% which I pinned on my board. Trust me when I saw that every morning I felt that I have set a tall one but I never looked back and worked systematically towards fullling it.
Nevertheless here are a few tips for the Batch of 2020:
l Solve previous years' papers and do lots of written practice as it helps you to manage time.
l Always prepare a schedule and try to follow it as that will denitely keep the syllabus under control.
Trivial Wake up time: 8:00 a.m : (February
onwards)
l Sleep time: 2:00 a.m. : February onwards)
l Number of study hours per day: Six to eight hours.(February onwards)
l Schedule between study breaks : GOSSIP! GOSSIP! GOSSIP!
l Energy booster during exam break: Coffee! Coffee! Coffee!
l Biggest exam fear: That the examiner wouldn't like my handwriting
l Study partner: Jannat (or wait maybe Chapli partner )
l Feelings on the last day of exam: Top of the world
l First response on seeing your result: Honestly I cried so loud.
9With GratitudeDear VDJS family
I certainly can't express in words how happy I am for my daughter Rubani. It's a moment of great pride and honour for all of us and this has been possible only because of VDJS and the support of her loving teachers.
I still remember my little bubbly Banu who I had sent away from me at such a tender age.
She managed herself so well that at end of her rst year Rubani got three big awards and it became difcult for me to hold them. That is when I realised that I had made the best decision for my daughter.
During her exams, Rubani broke down on the phone many times but everytime she rose up and started working again. She could face the pressure so gracefully because of the girl that she has been moulded into.
It was my birthday on May 3 and this was the best birthday gift that my daughter could have possibly given me.
I feel short of words to express how grateful I am to Ma'am Principal, teachers, dorm parents and didis who took care of my child like a mother.
Thank you all once again!

" Rubani stepped into VDJS in Class V, as a chubby and vibrant girl (which she was till the very end!). She used to sit on the rst bench, ready to help the teacher and classmates alike. She was very punctual with her daily assignments done in beautiful hand.
Back in Class VII, she was given the responsibility of a Class Representative and since then there has been no looking back. Her enthusiasm never dipped low in spite of back to back class or House activities intermingled with exam schedules. From making the display boards to House Wall Magazines, from class assemblies to House assemblies, from Intra-class competitions to House competitions, she would contribute everywhere and leave her mark. Her clarity, condence, honesty and panache earned her the badge of the Vice House Prefect of Kasturba House in the session 2017-18. She was instrumental in winning various Inter-House events and a great support in House matters. But she also knew when to say 'No'. The next year when she was offered the House Prefect badge, Rubani refused very humbly as she wanted to concentrate on her studies in Class XII. Today I feel the refusal was worth it and Rubani proved herself. I have seen her developing from a tiny tot to a young lady who is an all-rounder, a leader, very active, an excellent actor and compere and what not!
Today on he r ou ts tand ing achievement I feel beaming and elated. May God bless her! "

Motivation plays an important role in one's life to scale heights in the eld of one's choice. What kept you motivated during the examinations?
Motivation is indeed the key driving force for achieving success. It was my parents, teachers and friends who kept my spirits high during the examinations. They helped me work on the areas that I was lacking in. Moreover Lokavya, Chinglembi and I wanted to get into the same college so this was another reason to work hard and make this wish come true.
Boarding schools are characterised by their activity packed daily schedule. Didn't you face any paucity of time for the preparation of Boards?
I never felt any paucity of time for my preparations. Actually the School schedule, especially in the months of Jan-March, was planned in such a way that all of us could nd
enough time for studies, sports as well as other recreational activities. This helped us to delegate our time to all the activities and we never felt pressurised due to academics. During the exams we had the freedom to plan our study time according to our respective exam schedules. This helped each one of us to plan our own time-tables and get good grades.
What is your coping mechanism for exam-stress?
Exam pressure was very common during the Board Examinations but whenever I felt low I could go and talk to my teachers and especially my mentor Sir Raza who would always motivate me. Just by talking to the teachers I would feel better and the desire to work hard would enhance. Also talking to my friends, taking small breaks during preparation would help in lessening the pressure.

What message would you like to give for the Batch of 2020?
What helped me achieve such a remarkable result was the consistency and focus from the very beginning. My message for the upcoming batch would be that it is extremely helpful to start preparing from the rst day itself. It was each test or exam that we gave before the Boards which helped us in getting such a great result.
"We are extremely delighted and
proud of the result that our
daughter has generated. We
always had full faith in her and
were confident about her abilities
because of her performance since
the beginning and the faith that
her teachers had shown in her.
We are extremely grateful to the
School and the teachers for their
guidance to our daughter which
made this remarkable result
possible."

" The announcement of Class XII results got us anxiety stricken as we were much
apprehensive about ours. Our seniors had made us proud by performing
exceptionally well and setting a much higher benchmark for us. The expected date of
the announcement felt like a nightmare and even before we could check our
performance, the pulsating heart was pretty much at work and I could feel the head
throbbing.
My eyes kept rolling with the buffering net and there it was. 'Damn' was my rst
impulse and I couldn't help smiling broadly when the screen reected my result. I knew
then that I have made everybody proud indeed and THAT thought made me happier.
I take this opportunity to extend my gratitude towards my teachers, House staff,
parents, friends and above all the Principal who motivated me throughout and helped
me perform my best.
I am sure that this joyous moment would forever stay fresh in my memory and the very
thought of it will continue motivating me to soar higher and yet higher in the years

Congratulations! You scored 99.25 per cent marks. What percentage did you actually expect?
Thank you so much. Honestly speaking, I had never expected this result. I thought it to be 95% (on the higher side) but getting 99.25 % was totally unexpected. Now that I have secured it, I feel absolutely elated and more than that it's nice to see my parents, teachers and friends happy and satised. What else could I have asked for.
What was your schedule/timetable for exam preparation?
The thing I personally followed was giving quality time rather than quantity. Yes, I agree during the last 2-3 months the pressure was more and I devoted almost 8-10 hrs to study. The next important thing that I kept in mind was to give sufcient time to every subject. But of
course, it was important to focus more on the subjects which one felt a little unsure about. I think this worked for me extremely well!
What all would you do during a break from exam preparation or how would you de-stress yourself?
I think the small naps during my break times refreshed me the most. Sometimes I also talked to my friends a bit and listened to music. That's how I used to put myself at ease.
What will be your advice to the present batch of students?
The foremost thing I'll advice my juniors is maintaining consistency throughout the session. It is really important and doing a serious revision while practising the sample papers during the last months will help produce a glorious result. Moreover for me following the tips given by my teachers helped
"After seeing her result we
could not hold our tears and
just couldn't believe the
amazing scores she had
achieved. We checked her
result at least thrice. We feel
very proud of our daughter
who excelled by God's grace.
Thank you so much VDJS."
me a lot. So, try following their advice religiously. And the last but the most important tip is ,always "stay motivated" and "positive". All the best!
What are your plans for your future?
Presently I plan to do my graduation in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi and then take an attempt for I.A.S.
