The Hamburger Badminton Verband is delighted to invite to the VICTOR Nations Cup 2016 in the free and hanseatic city of Hamburg. The Vice President of the German Badminton Association will be pleased to welcome all players and participating nations in Hamburg.

The VICTOR Nations Cup 2016 is scheduled to be played from June 3 – 5, 2016, Hamburger Badminton Verband e.V., c/o Olympia-Stützpunkt Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein.

The VICTOR Nations Cup 2016 is a team competition between the several invited national teams from all over Europe and will be played in the age groups +40, +45, +50, +55, +60.

A detailed competition prospectus has been worked out and is being distributed herewith.

We are looking very much forward to welcoming all players in Hamburg and seeing badminton sport on its best level,

3. Other Hotels

Due to the situation that most hotels are well booked in Hamburg no further arrangements could be made. However, of course, there are plenty of hotels to book through the well-known online platforms. We would like to recommend other hotels which are located near the Main Train Station ("Hauptbahnhof") area or close to a U1 (blue line) underground station as follows:

As mentioned above, this is just a selection of hotels that are logistically well located. It takes only about 12 minutes to reach the venue by subway from Hauptbahnhof. The organizers have no connection to any of the hotels. But in general Hamburg is a very popular destination on weekends in summer, so please, book ahead.

By the way: The "Hauptbahnhof" area is a very colourful part of the city. Just same as about everywhere... ;-)

II Method of Competition

Teams

Various teams from Europe and a team from Japan has been invited to join the Victor Nations Cup 2016 in Hamburg, Germany.

Teams: a team plays 1 x WD, 1 x MD, 2 x XD in each age group of +40, +45, +50, +55, +60. Each age group must have a minimum of 2 women and 2 men and a maximum of 3 women and 3 men, therefore a team fields with a minimum of 10 women and 10 men and a maximum of 15 women and 15 men. An additional four reserve players are permitted for each team for the event.

All players must have reached the relevant age for the team competition by June 3, 2016.

There will be basically 2 kinds of teams possible:

- Nation's Team:

all players from 1 nation with a maximum of 3 players from a different and not participating nation. Those max. 3 players are a part of the main nation's team and must be registered with the main nation's team, stating their home country. Those teams are considered as coming from 1 nation and only the name of the main nation will be used.

The aim is to help to fill up some „critical“ age groups.

- Joint Teams:

all players may come from a maximum of 4 different nations. Those teams must give themselves a name at the time of registration. It does not matter how many players are coming from a nation, within the Joint Team.

The team will be called: Team………..( name)

All other rules will apply adequately to the Joint teams.

The aim is to give „smaller“ nations also the opportunity to join the prestigious Victor Nations Cup 2016.

III System of Play

System of play will be decided upon the actual number of registered entries:

6 or more nations:The preferred system of play is to divide the nations into 2 groups. Each team will play the other teams in its group, followed by semi-finals, final and playing for all ranks between the 2 different groups.

5 nations or less:The teams will play in 1 group, each team will play all other teams in the group. The group winner will be the winner of the tournament.

IV Tie

A competition between two nations consists of 5 ties, 1 tie per age group +40, +45, +50, +55 and +60. Each tie consists of 4 matches: 1 x MD, 1 x WD and 2 x XD. Therefore the possible results for the ties per competition between Team A and B can be for example: 5:0, 4:1, 3:2 up to 0:5 The result of a competition shall be determined by the greater number of ties won.The result of a tie shall be determined by the greater number of matches won.If a tie in an age group closes with the same number of matches won per nation, the higher number of games won will decide the winner of this tie.If the number of games won per tie are still the same, the higher number of points won by a nation will decide upon the winner of the team competition.Please see appendix I for easier/ better understanding.

The winning nation will be awarded with 2 points for each team competition, with the loosing nation being awarded no points.

A team for each tie shall consist of a minimum of 2 women and 2 men in each age group and a maximum of 3 women and 3 men.

A player shall be entitled to a maximum of 20 minutes rest between matches. Except in exceptional cases, no player may play in more than one age group in a tie, but may play in different age groups in different ties.

VI Registeration

Each team must place the registration not later than March 31, 2016 with the following email adress: klaus.badminton@functex.de

Nations/ Joint Team Entry after March 31, 2016 might be possible, subject of capacity and approval of organizer.

Each registeration must include the following information:

• Nation or Joint Team Name

• Team Captain`s Name, contact details, email, tel. no. and Deputy Team Captain

• Players list with name, birthday, sex, BE players ID (if available), home country of player

Players list might be adjusted until May 15, 2016

VII Laws

The laws as adopted by the BWF in May 2006 apply. All matches will be the best of 3 games to 21 points with rally point scoring. Intervals will be allowed of a maximum of 1 minute at 11 points in each game, and a maximum of 2 minutes between games.

Coaching will be permitted in accordance with the laws.

VIII Shuttles

VICTOR Gold Champion will be used in the team competition. Shuttles are provided on complimentary basis by the organizer.

IX Format

Each competition between nations will be played on a minimum of 4 courts.

X Schedule

Will be advised after team registration.

XI Regulations

Each country shall appoint a team captain and deputy team captain with the registration of the nation's team.The team captain must register his/her complete team by March 31, 2016. Changes to the players list can be made up to May 15, 2016.Final adjustments of the players list because of injuries, illness etc. can be made until and not later than June 3, 2016 8:00 am.The team captain must present his/her full team in accordance with regulation IV/ Tie to the referee 30 minutes before the scheduled start of play for each team competition. At this time the order of play will be agreed by the referee and the two team captains.

XII Group Ranking

• The winning nation in a competition of two teams will be awarded with 2 points, with the loosing nation being awarded no points.

• The ranking of a group shall be decided by: (in this order)• The team with the most competition points (i.e. ties won)• If two teams are equal the winner of the competition between those two teams will

decide.• If there is no winner, or more that 2 teams are equal, the team with the greatest number

of ties won in all its group competition shall be the winner• If 2 teams are still equal the winner of the competition between them will decide• If there is no winner, or more that 2 teams are equal, the team with the greatest number

of matches won in all its group competition shall be the winner• If 2 teams are still equal the winner of the competition between them will decide

• If there is no winner the highest difference between games won minus games lost over all group plays will decide

• If 2 teams are still equal the winner of the competition between them will decide• If there is still no winner the highest difference between points won minus points lost

over all competition will decide• If 2 teams are still equal the winner of the competition between them will decide

XI Substitutions

No substitutions shall be permitted once playing a match has started. A substitute may play in any subsequent match in that tie subject to the general rules on participation.

If a match is not completed, the existing score of the defaulting team shall stand and the opponents will be credited with the number of games and points required to win.

XII Referee

The referee is in overall charge of the competition. The referee together with the team captains shall form a committee to decide any policy matters related to the competition which may arise.

XIII Social Program

Get Together Drink

In the evening of Thursday, June 2, 2016 starting from 19:30 we have made a formless reservation at

for a get together drink. All drinks and food are subject to the individual person, it is meant to be the place where we all can meet, enjoy, relax, drink & eat……

This place is next to the hall and within walking distance to the venue.

Players Night

We have planned a players' reception on Saturday, 4th of June from 20:00h. It is open to all players and guests associated with the Victor Nations Cup.

We will board the MS Hanseatic in the famous harbour of Hamburg at the "Überseebrücke" and enjoy a cruise with a dinner buffet and disco.

Price: € 49,00/ Person

The price includes the boat tour, buffet dinner, music and a life vest (hahaha….!!!). Drinks are on individual’s accounts.

Reservations must be made until March 31, 2016 with the team registration.

Meeting time 19:30 o`clock

Finish time: 24:00 midnight

Of course, the tournament will respect the players night time schedule and play on Saturday evening will finish by 18:00 o`clock, in order to allow all players to participate.

FYI: Hamburg Subway System is working all night long on a Friday and Saturday Night/ Sunday Morning

Venue

We will have a cafeteria in the hall, including suitable meals for lunch, and all the goodies we need & like……

However, NO alcohol is allowed at all inside the hall, we consider having a grill and beer booth outside in front of the hall, subject to weather condition and acceptance by the authorities managing the venue facilities.

Appendix:

Example for competition between two teams and the meaning of ties
