Resilience. Determination. Those

two words accurately describe

Victor Gonzalez’s journey into the

world of NASCAR.

BIO_A native of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, Gonzalez realized

his passion for driving at the early age of 14.   With

unwavering support from his family, his father in

particular, he began competing and gaining recognition

as a road-course ace in Puerto Rico. In 1996, Gonzalez

took a leap of faith and set out to the United States to

fulfill his dream of representing Puerto Rico in

professional competitions and becoming the first

Hispanic driver to compete in NASCAR’s history.

With little knowledge of the complexities of the

professional racecar world, Gonzalez arrived in the U.S

and was able to overcome many adversities including

not having the type of financial backing from major

sponsors that other drivers had.  With loans from family

and friends, Gonzalez was able to raise enough money to

begin his racing career.

At the age of 24, Gonzalez made his dream come true by

representing Puerto Rico in the prestigious NAPA Auto

Parts 2000 race and accomplishing a distinctive 14th

place.

Garnering over 30 wins thus far in his career, Gonzalez

has competed and placed in races such as the CART

Toyota Atlantic Championship, the North American

Touring Car Series and the Barber Dodge Pro Series.
