Regent Secondary SchoolNational Education(Cultivating the Singapore Spirit through
our success stories)
National Education is part of the holistic education we wish to provide for
our pupils.
It aims to develop national cohesion, cultivate the instinct for survival as a nation
and instill in our students confidence in our nation's future. It also aims to
cultivate a sense of belonging and emotional rootedness to Singapore.
MOE has adopted a two-pronged approach in the cultivation of
national instincts among pupils:
1) To develop an awareness of the facts, circumstances and opportunities facing
Singapore, so that they will be able to make decisions for their future with
conviction and realism.
2) To develop a sense of emotional belonging and commitment to the community
and nation. This approach is aptly captured in the phrase "engaging hearts and
minds".
Our NE Vision
A Caring, Global citizen who
remains rooted toSingapore
OurObjectives:
To develop national cohesion, the instinct for survival andconfidence in the future
1) by fostering a sense of identity, pride and self-respect as
Singaporeans;
2) by knowing the Singapore story -- how Singapore

succeeded against the odds to become a nation;
3) by understanding Singapore's unique challenges,
constraints and vulnerabilities, which make us different from
other countries;
and
4) by instilling the core values of our way of life, and the will
to prevail, that ensures our continued success and well-being.
