The convention elected from Western PA a new National Jr. Vice who in 2 years will be the National Commander—the first time this has occurred in many years. It is ALSO important to report that the National Delegation (despite the NO vote from PA) voted to raise dues on the Regular Continuous members by $10 per year. The dues increase will begin on 1 Jan 2014. Thus it is very important for continuous members to pay their dues for 2014 before the end of 2013 to avoid the $10 increase. Beginning in Jan 2014 anyone renewing or joining the VFW will see a $10 increase in dues. The dues at Post 764 will rise from $20/year to $30/year with none of the increase going to the Post. This increase does not apply to Life Members, so this might be the time to think about becoming a Life Member. Also, effective next year, anyone joining the VFW, your dues will be on a calendar year basis from the date you joined versus a Jan-Dec period. QUARTERMASTER COMMENTS

VFW Post 764 recently concluded another

annual Golf Outing. With the co-

sponsorship of “The Almanac,” we were

once again successful in raising funds to

assist the VFW Ambulance operations and

the worthwhile organizations in the area.

Many thanks to all who participated,

volunteered, purchased sponsor signs and

donated prizes. It is because of all of you

that this annual event is so successful.

Hope to see all of you again next year.

Congrats to James Andrews (a PTVA

member) who won the 50/50 drawing.

I recently attended the VFW Nat’l

Convention in Louisville, KY. The

convention elected from Western PA a new

National Jr. Vice who in 2 years will be the

National Commander—the first time this

has occurred in many years. It is ALSO

important to report that the National

Delegation (despite the NO vote from PA)

voted to raise dues on the Regular

Continuous members by $10 per year. The

dues increase will begin on 1 Jan 2014.

members to pay their dues for 2014 before

the end of 2013 to avoid the $10 increase.

(Ladies Aux con’t)

or any one of our Sisters know. We will get you there!

Many of our members have purchased a Patriotic Auxiliary

shirt. If you haven’t done so, but would like one, please

contact me. Also, we will soon have VFW wearing apparel

available for purchase in the Post. Be on the lookout!

Marge Klauer and I had the privilege of working the annual

VFW/Almanac Golf Outing held September 9. What a fun

time! If you golf and did not participate in the event this

year, you may want to consider doing so next year. The

event began at 9 a.m., followed by cocktails, late lunch/early

dinner, and prizes. A special thank you to Sandy Roberto for

the great basket she prepared on behalf of the Auxiliary for

the Chinese Auction, and thanks to Nancy Shonsky for her

gift card donation.

October is highway cleanup month. Anyone wishing to

participate, let me know. We clean 1.3 miles from the Post

up West McMurray Road to the gas station, both sides. The

exact date has not yet been set.

We will be holding a Cakeless Bake Sale in the next month

or so. Ladies! Watch the mail!

December will, no doubt, be tree decorating and caroling at

Friendship Village. Particulars will be determined at our

upcoming meetings. Attend the meetings and throw out your

thoughts. December also brings our get-together in the

Canteen for food, drink and camaraderie. This takes place

when we return from caroling as there is no December
